  • A GEO satellite launched by Arian 5 ECA launcher will be located in a transfer orbit where it requires several Apogee burn maneuvers to reach the target orbit. To obtain the required performance of Apogee burn maneuvers, a calibration of gyro drift error needs to be performed before each maneuver. In this paper, a unique gyro calibration scheme which is applied to COMS is described and the calibration error budget analysis is performed.

  • We studied the design of fiber optic gyroscope that enables to sense high rotation by extending the limit of rotation sensibility of fiber optic interferometer. Based on the digital serrodyne modulation technique, the signal processing of fiber optic gyroscope was designed and the prototype fiber optic gyroscope showed the high rotation sensibility up to ${\pm}3000[deg/sec]$ and scale factor performance of about 150[ppm] by the experiments. Accordingly, we confirmed that the design of fiber optic gyroscope was valid for high rotation.

  • Giomer is a recently developed light-cured resin-based material. This study compared compressive strength and microhardness of composite resin, giomer and compomer after 5000 times of thermocycling at $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$. The following results were obtained. 1. Composite resin resulted in the highest compressive strengths both before and after thermocycling, followed by giomer and compomer. There were statistically significant differences between composite resin and giomer/compomer (p<0.05), but no statistically significant differences between giomer and compomer. 2. Both before and after thermocycling, microhardness values appeared in the order of composite resin, giomer and compomer with statistically significant differences in microhardness of composite resin, giomer and compomer (p<0.05). 3. After thermocycling, microhardness of composite resin, giomer and compomer decreased with a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). In conclusion, giomer demonstrates higher microhardness than compomer, but lower compressive strength and microhardness than composite resin. In addition, the decrease in microhardness and compressive strength after thermocycling proves the necessity for a thorough understanding in mechanical properties of restoration materials prior to their clinical application.

  • This study evaluated the fluoride release of alkasite restorative material (ARM) and giomer penetrating the dentin adhesive layer. Twenty specimens were prepared for each restorative material, and dentin adhesive with uniform thickness was applied to half of them. The prepared specimens were placed in a polyethylene tube containing 2.0 mL of deionized water and deposited in a 37.0℃ water bath for the study duration. The amount of fluoride release was measured on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th days after deposition. The dentin adhesive applied to the ARM and giomer could not completely block the fluoride release; however, it significantly reduced its amount. The cumulative amount of fluoride release of the ARM after 28 days was higher than that of the giomer regardless of the application of dentin adhesive.

  • In this paper, we focus on the fault detection and isolation(FDI) method for inertial navigation system with three two-degree of freedom dynamically tuned gyros(DTG) on orthogonal sensor configuration. we propose the FDI method which can detect the fault of each DTGs rather than the fault of each sensing axis. The proposed FDI method is separated into two FDI modules according to the fault magnitude in order to improve the reliability of fault detection information. For large fault detection, only instantaneous DTG measurement is used to detect a fault DTG within a short time. For small fault detection, the integrated value of DTG measurements are used to detect a fault DTG. It takes a more time to detect a fault but it serves more reliable fault detection information. Using the proposed FDI method with consideration of DTG fault characteristic, we could find out a fault DTG successfully.

  • This paper is presented to study the error minimization of angular velocity for AGV(autonomous ground vehicle). The error minimization of angular velocity is related to localization technique which is the most important technique for autonomous vehicle. Accelerometer, yaw gyro and electronic compass have been used to measure angular velocity. And methods for error minimization of angular velocity have been actively studied through probabilistic methods and sensor fusion for AGVs. However, those sensors still occure accumulated error by mathematical error, system characters of each sensor, and computational cost are increased greatly when several sensor are used to correct accumulated error. Therefore, this paper studies about error minimization of angular velocity that just uses encoder and gyro. To experiment, we use autonomous vehicle which is made by ourselves. In experimental result, we verified that the localization error of proposed method has even less than the localization errors which we just used encoder and gyro respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to focus on the social influence of the movie , to review the meaning and symbolism of Koreans living in Japan (ざいにち) and rugby in the movie, and to eventually reveal the messages from the movie. The research method was text analysis. As a result, Koreans living in Japan were represented in 2 ways. Koreans living in Japan were represented as Homo Sacer, the contradictory being, located inside society by Japan's sovereignty but considered as outsiders. Meanwhile, the identity of Koreans living in Japan were represented clearly as Korean and they were acknowledged in Japan as proud and capable. The rugby in the movie has 2 symbolic meanings. First, it was the most important and effective way to prove Korean existence in Japan by representing the struggle for recognition, additionally it also carried an important message about their ideal society.

  • Conventional microgyroscopes of vibrating type require resonant frequency tuning of the driving and sensing modes to achieve high sensitivity. These tuning conditions depend on each fabricated microgyroscopes, even though the microgyroscopes are identically designed. A new micromachined resonator, which is applicable to microgyroscopes with self-toning characteristics, is presented. Since the laterally driven two degrees of freedom (2DOF) resonator was designed as a symmetric structure with identical stiffness in two orthogonal axes, the resonator is applicable to vibrating microgyroscopes, which do not need mode tuning. A dynamic model of the resonator was derived considering gyroscopic application. The dynamic model was evaluated by experimental comparison with fabricated resonators. The microgyroscopes were fabricated using a simple 2-mask-process of a single polysilicon layer deposited on an insulator layer. The feasibility of the resonator as a vibrating microgyroscopes with self-tuning capability is discussed. The fabricated resonators of a particular design have process-induced non-uniformities that cause different resonant frequencies. For several resonators, the standard deviations of the driving and sensing frequencies were as high as 1232Hz and 1214Hz, whereas the experimental average detuning frequency was 91.75Hz. The minimum detuned frequency was 68Hz with $0.034mVsec/^{\circ}$ sensitivity. The sensitivity of the microgyroscopes was low due to process-induced non-uniformity; the angular rate bandwidth, however, was wide. This resonator could be successfully applicable to a vibrating microgyroscopes with high sensitivity, if improvements in uniformity of the fabrication process are achieved. Further developments in improved integrated circuits are expected to lower the noise level even more.
