Physiological Changes of Aging (노년기의 생리적 특성)

  • 노화는 모든 사람에게 공통적으로 일어나는 자연스러운 현상이다. 그러나 이에 따른 신체적인 변화는 각 개인에 따라, 그리고 한 개인 안에서조차 각종 장기별로 다양한 속도로 진행된다. 노년기의 생리적인 변화는 예비용량(reserve capacity)의 저하에 따라 외부의 스트레스에 대처하여 항상성을 유지하는 능력이 감소되어 나타나게 된다. 안정적 상태에서 기능수준에는 큰 변화가 없으나 활동상태의 기능 수준은 연령증가에 따라 상당히 저하되는 것을 보여준다. 노년기의 생리적 변화에 따라 직병에 대한 감수성은 증가하나 대다수의 만성퇴행성질환은 특정 병리현상에 의해 발생하며 노화가 직접적인 원인으로 작용하지는 않는 것으로 알려지고 있다.

The Effect of Hydrolyzed Jeju Ulva pertusa on the Proliferation and Type I Collagen Synthesis in Replicative Senescent Fibroblasts (제주 구멍갈파래 가수분해물에 의한 노화된 섬유아세포 증식 및 콜라겐 합성증진 효과)

  • Skin dermal fibroblast is the major collagen-producing cell type in human skin. As aging process continues in human skin, collagen production is reduced and fragmentation is increased, which is initiated by matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1). This imbalance of collagen homeostasis impairs the structure and function of dermal collagenous extracellular matrix (ECM), thereby promoting skin aging. Cysteine-rich protein 61 (CCN1), a member of the CCN family, negatively regulates collagen homeostasis in primary human skin dermal fibroblast cells. It is known in aging fibroblast cells that elevated CCN1 expression substantially reduces type I procollagen and concurrently increases MMP-1, which initiates fibrillar collagen degradation. And proliferation rate of aging fibroblast cells is reduced compared to the pre-aging fibroblast cells. In this study, we confirmed that the replicative senescence dermal fibroblast cells increased the expression levels of MMP-1 and decreased the production of type I procollagen. Our results also showed that the replicative senescence dermal fibroblast cells increased in the expression of CCN1 and decreased in the proliferation rate. Hydrolyzed Ulva pertusa extracts are the materials to improve photo-aging by reducing the expression of MMP-1 that was increased by ultraviolet and by promoting the synthesis of new collagen from fibroblast cells. In this study, we also investigated the hydrolyzed U. pertusa extract to see whether it inhibits CCN1 protein expression in the senescence fibroblasts. Results showed that the hydrolyzed U. pertusa extract inhibited the expression of MMP-1 and increased the production of type I procollagen in the aging skin fibroblast cells cultured. In addition, the proteins that regulate collagen homeostasis CCN1 expression were greatly reduced. The hydrolyzed U. pertusa extract increased the proliferation rate of the aging fibroblast cells. These results suggest that replicative senescent fibroblast cells may be used in the study of cosmetic ingredients as a model of the natural aging. In conclusion, the hydrolyzed U. pertusa extract can be used in anti-wrinkle functional cosmetic material to improve the natural aging skin care as well as photo-aging.

A Study of Life about Naturally Aged Nitrocellulose by Storage (자연 노화된 니트로셀룰로오스의 수명에 관한 연구)

  • During the safety inspection of nitrocellulose-made explosive containers stored for more than 10 years, cracks were found in the containers. Therefore, a failure cause analysis test was performed. First, the cause of failure through the failure tree analysis was conducted to select the factors that influenced failure. The changes in the properties of the container caused by the acceleration of the reaction were found to be the cause of the failure by confirming the influence on the environment and internal/external factors that may occur during storage. To confirm this, environmental tests, such as thermal shock test and vacuum thermal stability test, were performed using a naturally aged container to analyze the cause of failure, and an accelerated aging test was performed to reproduce the failure. Through this, the chemical reaction was accelerated by heat and charge, as in the result of the fault tree analysis, and it was confirmed that the physical properties of the container were changed. In addition, the service life of the container was estimated using the Arrhenius model for the storage life due to thermal aging.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an anti-aging health care plan through a literature analysis of the life activity system of Oriental Medicine. The source of normal maintenace, development, and change of the natural world and the human body's life activity process is the dynamical cooperative equilibrium of the internal Shen-Ji's discipline that creates, grows, changes, makes differences and stores(生长化收藏) and external Qi-Li's process of change from birth to growth, maturity to old age and ending of life(生長壯老已). Therefore, it was analyzed that the natural and human life activity processes are normally maintained, developed, and transformed. As a result, when the natural healing power of Genuine-Qi, the source of the human vitality, rises with the 'breathing massage' that combines a static breathing method which is anti-aging health care method applying the lifting entering movement of Qi and a dynamic abdominal massage, and it harmonizes the Shen-Ji which is the life process system and Qi-Li so that it is believed to be helpful in prolonging a healthy lifespan.

  • 노화가 시작되면 체력이 저하되어 면역기능이 떨어져 쉽게 병에 걸리고 환경에 대한 적응력이 떨어진다. 특히 60세 이상이 되면 근육 양과 근력이 급격히 가속화되어 신체적으로 약화되기 시작한다. 노화는 자연스럽게 진행되지만 꾸준한 운동을 통해 근력 저하 속도를 늦출 수 있다. 근력 증강을 위한 다양한 기기 개발에도 불구하고 노인들이 사용하는데 어려움이 있다. 특히 노인 신체적 특성에 맞는 운동기기 개발이 절실하며, 노인의 흥미를 유발시켜 자발적 참여를 유도하는 환경이 제공되어야 한다. 가상현실 기술은 실재하지 않거나 먼 거리에 있는 환경을 가상세계로 생성시켜서, 인간의 오감을 각종 인터페이스 장치를 통해 신호를 전달하여 가상의 현실 환경에 실재하고 있다고 느끼도록 만들어 주고, 가상세계와 상호작용을 통해 의료 진단, 치료, 재활 등에 유용한 도구 및 환경을 제공한다. 이러한 가상현실 기술의 특성 때문에 노인의 운동 참여와 운동 효과를 극대화 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 근력의 특성을 분석하고 노화와 근력과의 관계를 조사하고, 상지근력 증강 운동기와 해당 가상현실 컨텐츠 그리고 관련 컨텐츠 개발 동향에 대해 제시하고자 한다.

A Study of Performance Evaluation of Warm Asphalt Binder Properties using LEADCAP(R) additive (중온화 첨가제(LEADCAP(R))를 사용한 중온 아스팔트 바인더의 특성 평가)

  • The objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of low $CO_2$ asphalt binder properties using LEADCAP$^{(R)}$(Low Energy and Carbon Asphalt Pavement) additive as function of various aging methods such as RTFO(Rolling thin film oven), Ultraviolet(UV) lay. In order to simulate the short-term aging of asphalt binder that occurs during the hot-mixing asphalt process, the Rolling Thin Film Oven(RTFO) was used. Asphalt binder using LEADCAP$^{(R)}$ is prepared by addition of a photoinitiator activated by ultraviolet lay. The mechanical and rheological properties of the asphalt binder were estimated using UTM(Universal Testing Machine) and DSR(Dynamic Shear Rheometer). The test results showed that the asphalt binder using LEADCAP$^{(R)}$ additive was improved the rutting resistance at testing temperature ($70^{\circ}C$) and increased tensile strength at low temperature. Also, Thermal analysis shows that the Melting Point(Tm) of asphalt binder using LEADCAP$^{(R)}$ additive was constant although the asphalt binder was aged by Ultraviolet.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate physical property change of asphalt cement chromatograms (by HP-GPC) were experimentally obtained from 3 types of AC-20 virgin ACs, 5 and 24-hour artificially aged ACs, and naturally aged 4 ACs that were recovered from 4 different roads. Absolute viscosity, kinematic visoosity and penetration were the physical properties tested. THF was used for mobil phase and RI detector was used as a detector for Hp-GPC testing. Correlation between each physical property change and the chromatogram variation was evaluated. Each chromatogram was divided into ten-equal-time slices. The percentage areas of 10 slices and each physical property were used for statistical correlation evaluation. Statistical analysis results showed that eaoh physical property had a strong correlation with the chromatogram characteristics. Aging was identified as a mechanism of change of molecular size distribution - increasing large size molecules and reducing coresponding samll size molecules.

The influence of expectations regarding aging on health-promoting behaviors (노화기대가 성인의 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the current study was to identify expectations regarding aging and health-promoting behaviors and to examine whether expectation regarding aging was associated with health-promoting behaviors among community-residing Korean adults. Data were collected from 233 adults dwelling in the community of Daegu and Kyungpook province. The influence of expectations regarding on health-promoting behaviors was analyzed through hierarchical multiple regression controlling for sociodemographic variables. As a result, the mean score of expectations regarding aging was significantly lower in 40s and 50s than 20s and 30s. The participants had the lowest expectations regarding aging in terms of physical health domain and the highest expectations in terms of mental health domain. No significant differences were found in health-promoting behaviors among different age groups. After controlling for sociodemographic variables, expectations regarding aging were independently associated with health-promoting behaviors in adults in 20s~30s but not in those in 40s~50s. The findings suggest the need for encouraging Korean adults to strive for having positive and active perspective on aging and for getting higher expectations regarding aging, in particular, for 20s and 30s, as a health-promoting strategy.
