  • Recently, the development of practical wearable robot interfaces has resulted in the emergence of wearable robots such as arm prosthetics or lower-limb exoskeletons. In this paper, we propose a novel method of wrist movement intention estimation based on a regression technique using electromyography of human bio-signals. In daily life, changes in user arm position changes cause decreases in performance by modulating EMG signals. Therefore, we propose an estimation method for robust wrist movement intention for arm position changes, combining several movement intention models based on the regression technique trained by different arm positions. In our experimental results, our method estimates wrist movement intention more accurately than previous methods.

  • In this study, radiation doses of major organs in various postures in lower extremity teleography were measured and compared to investigate the utility of the test methods. Ten adult males who underwent lower extremity teleography at a tube voltage of 73 kVp, tube current of 32 mAs, and SID of 180 cm. Using rando phantom, glass dosimeter was attached to the eye lens, thyroid gland, and genital gland to measure the radiation dose in each area 5 times in each anteroposterior posture and posteroanterior posture. The results were compared and analyzed through Paired T-test. The images from the anteroposterior posture and posteroanterior posture were evaluated through the blind test on a scale of 5. As a result, the posteroanterior method could reduce the dose than the anteroposterior posture method: less dose for the eye lens by 6%, thyroid gland by 6%, and genital gland by 26%. Since there was no significant difference in image evaluation, the posteroanterior posture is considered better than the anteroposterior posture in lower extremity teleography.

  • Magnetic disturbance is one of the main factors that deteriorate the accuracy of orientation estimation methods based on inertial/magnetic sensor signals. This paper proposes a parallel Kalman filter(KF) that explicitly detects magnetic disturbances and thus can accurately estimate 3D orientation in magnetically disturbed environments. Due to the parallel nature of the proposed KF, even severe magnetic disturbances only affect yaw estimation, while roll and pitch values remain accurate. Consequently, the proposed KF can be effectively used in various applications that involve magnetically inhomogeneous environments, such as robots, ships, and planes.
