  • This article addresses considerations, processes of drawing concepts and design approaches in compiling a corporate brochure set in the practice of editorial design. A well-made brochure does not simply refer to listings of the current state of a company and a fantastic visualization of their visions. It necessarily involves the utilization of strategic core keywords appropriate to the industry, proper and classy metaphors that fit the target, a certain harmony between direct and indirect narratives, and bringing all of these aspects under the hat of creative and purposeful design in a single brochure. Thus, it also calls for variety and changes to captivate the eye when leafing through brochures. 1. Does the brochure reflect accurate diagnoses on the position of the market environment, the industry and their needs? 2. Does it offer solutions to given tasks, does it claim to be able to solve problems a company may have, does it satisfy their expectations, and does it cover the topics in an in-depth manner? 3. Referring to questions 1 & 2, does it address existing cases of competitors, leading players and global trends? 4. Does it have an appropriate design language that can communicate intrinsic issues and global trends as well as appropriate rhetorical visual aids that stand out?

A Research for the pattern of the Instrument Panel Design of passenger cars (승용차 인스트루먼트 패널 디자인 유형의 연구)

  • The interior space in a passenger car is consisted with many partial elements, and the instrument panel is the most important part from all of them, which is designate the total image of the interior design and the space variation, drivability and safety of the interior space. ] The instrument panel of a passenger car in the early age had the concept of a wall between the engine room and the passenger cabin on which the instrument for the driver were fitted. Therefore the central mounting of the instruments was the typical feature regardless of the position of a driver seat. As the automobiles became more functional with many equipments, driver oriented instrument panel with energy absorbing materials had been developed, and that was the beginning of the various instrument panel design of these days. The recent instrument panels of passenger car have the tendency of going back to the central instrument mounting as it was at the past on a few cars for the strict safety regulation, a new production technology and for the enhanced drivability. It can be summarized into a few results as these with the analysis of a few recent instrument panels. -minimizing the total volume for the better frontal visibility. -energy absorbing and passive structures for the strict impact regulations. -revival of central instrument mounting for the convenience and safety through minimizing the difference of the focal length of a driver.

  • 현재 자동차 강판 시장에서는 승객들의 안전 확보와 연비 향상을 위하여 자동차 강판의 경량화 및 고장력화가 급속히 진행되고 있다. 더불어 소비자는 더욱 아름답고 멋있는 외관을 추구하면서 정교한 디자인이 가능할 수 있도록 높은 성형성을 갖는 강판에 대한 요구도 또한 증대되고 있다. 따라서 강도와 성형성을 동시에 확보할 수 있는 DP형, TRIP형 등의 다양한 컨셉을 갖는 변태강화형 고장력강에 대한 개발 요구가 점점 심화되고 있으나 이들 고장력강의 상 제어를 위하여 첨가된 Si, Mn등의 성분들이 표면에 안정한 산화물을 형성하기 때문에 이러한 고장력강은 표면 품질이 열위한 것으로 보고 되고 있다. 따라서 기존 연구에서는 열처리중 표면으로 확산되어 올라오는 Si, Mn 산화물의 저감을 위하여 분위기 중 산소농도나 노점등을 조절하거나, 산화전처리, 선도금처리 등을 통하여 Si, Mn 의 표면 선택산화를 제어하여 도금 결함을 최소화하려는 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 연구들은 대부분 강판 표면에서의 산화/환원의 반응에 대한 분위기 요인을 제어하는 연구들이며 실제 Si, Mn등의 산화성 원소들이 어떠한 조건에서 어떠한 경로들을 통해서 이동하여 표면으로 올라오는지에 대한 연구는 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 산화성 원소들의 표면 확산 거동에 대한 고찰을 위하여 다양한 열처리 온도 조건을 통한 표면 도금성 경향, 합급화 경향 및 표면 분석결과를 바탕으로 확산 거동에 대한 경향을 밝히고자 하였다.

Innovation of Engineering Education via Global Automotive Development Project

  • The paper introduces an educational environment for multidisciplinary automotive development project made with other global institutions worldwide. The main objective is to accelerate students design and manufacturing skills, while giving them the experience of global communications for a large scale collaboration. This objective demands the intimate partnership between industrial design and engineering worldwide as well. Not only is the design and manufacturing portion of the project a challenge, but the students must organize the project teams together to incorporate different subsystem designs from other institutions, which, after all, requires constant communication and a truly team-oriented atmosphere for the global innovative engineering education.

Design of In-Wheel Motor for Automobiles Using Parameter Map (파라미터 맵을 이용한 차량용 인휠 전동기의 설계)

  • Electric Vehicle (EV) can be categorized by the driving method into in-wheel and in-line types. In-wheel type EV does not have transmission shaft, differential gear and other parts that are used in conventional cars, which simplifies and lightens the structure resulting in higher efficiency. In this paper, design method for in-wheel motor for automobiles using Parameter Map is proposed, and motor with continuous power of 5 kW is designed, built and its performance is verified. To decide the capacity of the in-wheel motor that meets the automobile's requirement, Vehicle Dynamic Simulation considering the total mass of vehicle, gear efficiency, effective radius of tire, slope ratio and others is performed. Through this step, the motor's capacity is decided and initial design to determine the motor shape and size is performed. Next, the motor parameters that meet the requirement is determined using parametric design that uses parametric map. After the motor parameters are decided using parametric map, optimal design to improve THD of back EMF, cogging torque, torque ripple and other factors is performed. The final design was built, and performance analysis and verification of the proposed method is conducted by performing load test.

Characteristics of Stormwater Runoff with respect to Pavement Types (도로 포장방법에 따른 비점오염물질 유출특성 비교)

  • Due to high imperviousness rates of the roads, various pollutants originated from vehicle activities and air depositions are accumulated on the road surfaces. The washed-off pollutants can deteriorate the water quality and destroy the aqua-ecosystems with their toxicity. Usually the roads are paved with asphalt and concrete, which can affect on the pollutant concentrations with different frictional forces. Therefore, this research is performed to evaluate the influences of different pavement type on discharged concentrations of pollutant. The results shows the first flush phenomenon was occurred on both pavement types. However, peak concentrations are higher in concrete pavement areas than asphalt pavement because concrete pavement has high contact area with vehicles. The EMCs(Event Mean Concentration) also shows high values in concrete paved roads. As a result of this research, it can be concluded the pavement type is also one of the important affecting factors on pollutant emissions from the roads.

  • 수분산 폴리우레탄 수지는 기능성이 뛰어나고 다양한 용도로 쓰임이 많기 때문에, 용제형 폴리우레탄 수지를 이용한 환경문제에 대처할 수 있는 대안으로 그 쓰임이 점차 늘어나고 있다. 그러나 수분산 폴리우레탄 수지는 용제형 폴리우레탄 수지에 비해 물리적 특성이 떨어지는 단점이 있다. 그래서 우수한 물리적 특성을 유지하면서 용제형 폴리우레탄 수지를 대체할 수 있는 환경친화성 폴리우레탄 수지에 대한 연구가 많이 이뤄지고 있다. 최근 산업환경 변화에 순응하는 환경 친화적 소재를 사용하여 자동차, 선박, 철도 등 수송용 인테리어 내장재를 구성하는 기술로서, 난연성 및 기계적 물성 유지 기술, 그리고 실내 쾌적감을 부여하기 위한 감성기술 및 심미적 요소를 부여하는 디자인 기술이 가미된 복합 기능화 기술개발이 요구되고 있다. 기존의 자동차용 시트 제품의 대부분은 습식 PU와 PVC를 사용하고 있고, 제조과정에서 용제와 가소제 사용 등으로 인해 환경적으로 많은 문제점이 있으며, 이를 대체하기 위한 노력이 많은 부분에서 이루어지고 있지만, 마땅히 대체할 소재를 찾지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 Frothing 기법을 이용한 친환경 foam 제조기술은 기존의 습식 PU foam과 PVC foam을 대체할 수 있는 기술로서, PUD foam의 기계적 물성 및 가공성이 보완된다면 상업적 용도로 많은 분야에서 활용될 것으로 판단된다.

  • Strip layout design in progressive die is an important factor that determines the applicability of mass production. In this study, the layout design of bracket strips used fer automobiles was executed. The strip layout design was made in 3D with the use of Cimatron die design, an automation module rather than a 3D modeling module. Blank layout has been optimized through a layer arrangement of the wide run positioning inside carrier (double-row and two-pass type). The 3D CAD/CAM software used was Cimatron Die Design; the strip layout design was completed in ten processes.

A Study on the Characteristics of Architectural Buildings for Car Advertisements based on Three Elements for the Advertising Communication (광고 커뮤니케이션 3요소를 통해 나타나는 자동차 광고 속 건축물 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the connectivity between the preference of architectural buildings and automobile companies as the most widely used background images for automobile advertisements. Based on the familiarity of the brand, the complexity of the message, and the novelty of the advertisement, this research is discovered with preferred images of automobile companies as well as the connectivity by analyzing architectural buildings emerging with various background images of automobile advertisements. After analyzing all three elements for the advertising communication, the conclusions through case investigations of nine automobile companies are the below. Firstly, the familiarity of the brand from nine automobile companies was high ranked satisfaction scores after questionnaire surveys. Secondly, all the aspects for the space, formative, material, height, and utilization related to the complexity of the message are not only matched the preferred images which automobile companies persue but the same preferred design elements after reviewing the most preferred and next most preferred images from the companies. Lastly, the methods for emphasizing the automobile itself which is related to the novelty of the advertisement simplify background images along with preferred artificial structures.

A study on alarm service for providing safety for pedestrian using smartphone: Focused on the effectiveness of depth-based alarming (스마트폰 사용 보행자의 안전성 제공을 위한 알람서비스에 관한 연구 : Depth-based alarming 적용 효과를 중심으로)

  • 스마트폰의 보급률에 맞물려 스마트폰 사용으로 인한 보행자 교통사고가 증가함에 따라 전세계적으로 이에 관한 연구 또한 꾸준히 증가 추세임에도 불구하고 인구대비 스마트폰 보급률이 세계 최고인 국내에서는 이에 대한 연구가 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 보행 중 교통사고 중에서 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 젊은층의 산만 보행에 관해 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 정신과학 분야의 주의 네트워크 연구를 바탕으로 보행자의 안전도 향상은 물론, 스마트폰 이용자의 사용성을 고려한 depth-based alarming 서비스를 제안한다.-본 연구는 스마트폰 애플리케이션을 제작하여 국내 20대 스마트폰 이용자를 대상으로 피험자내 설계로 진행되었고, 보행자의 안전도에 관련한 무선조종 자동차에 대한 반응속도와 충돌여부를 측정하였고, 또한 앱 사용성에 관련한 방해도 및 만족도를 설문을 통해 측정하였다. 본 연구는 위험 상황을 알리는 alarm 을 제공하기 전에 미리 pre-alarm 을 제공하는 depth-based alarming 을 디자인 하였다. 본 연구는 실험을 통해 pre-alarm 제공시 alarm 에 대한 보행자의 반응 속도가 1.446 초 향상됨을 통계적 유의성을 통해 입증함으로써 pre-alarm 을 제공하는 depth-based alarming 서비스의 필요성을 제시한다.
