In Korea, the enactment of National Health Promotion Act 1995 gradually increased considerable attention on not only the quality of life, but also the desire for health. Health Promoting Behaviors have been considered as significant factors in determining the quality of life. The purpose of this study was to examine health promoting behaviors of conscripted policemen, to analyze the relationship between such behaviors and a sense of self-efficacy, and finally to provide some basic data which can be utilized for developing health promotion programs of conscripted policemen. For this study, a total of 251 conscripted policemen in Daegu city and Kyongbuk Province were sampled. The data were collected for 7 days from August 20 to August 27 2012 by employing a questionnaire. The collected data were then processed by using the SPSS PC 18.0 program for Frequencies, Percentages, Means, Standard Deviations, and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. This study measured 2.52(${\pm}0.28$) points in the health promoting behaviors, and 3.74(${\pm}0.50$) points in the extent of a sense of self-efficacy. Therefore, this study clearly demonstrated that health promoting behaviors are strongly correlated with a sense of self-efficacy in Korean conscripted policemen. Considering the results of this research, it is highly recommended that programs for improving health promoting behaviors of conscripted policemen should be developed.

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationships among college students' life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. A total of 279 college students participated in this study. It was administered a questionnaire consisting of questioned of concerning life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. The correlation analysis and the analysis of mediating effect were conducted on the data. The main results of data analysis showed (1) correlations among life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being, (2) significant mediating effect of self-efficacy between life stress and subjective well-being. The direction of a further study was suggested.
The aim of this study was to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 67 pre-early childhood teachers (36 from the experimental group and 31 from the control group) in Seoul, Kyunggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Pre-early childhood teachers' problem solving ability and self-efficacy was measured three times. Data were analyzed with a $2{\times}3$ ($group{\times}test$) two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures. The change in problem solving and self-efficacy appeared to be dependent on the group and test. Further statistical analysis of the data indicated that the participation of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers was longitudinally effective on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relation of appearance satisfaction, self-efficacy, and school life adaptation of adolescent and to provide basic data for improving appearance satisfaction, self-efficacy, and school life adaptation. The participants were 199 second grade stndents of three high schools in C city. Data were collected from September 21 to September 25, 2012 and by a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient using the SPSS/WIN(ver.20.0). The score of appearance satisfaction, self-efficacy, and school life adaptation were relatively moderate. The study showed significant differences in the score of appearance satisfaction and school life adaptation according to gender and economic status. Appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy had significantly positive correlations-with school life adaptation. Therefore, these results should be considered when developing intervention programs for improving school life adaptation, self-efficacy, and school life adaptation of adolescent.
In this study, a survey was conducted on Chinese students in a university in Busan, in order to investigate the relationship between oral health-related self-efficacy and quality of life according to smoking experience of Chinese students living in South Korea. The results of analyzing collected data with the SPSS 24.0 program showed that students without smoking experience had higher scores in brushing, oral health-related self-efficacy and oral health-related quality of life than those with smoking experience. Brushing self-efficacy was positively correlated with oral health-related self-efficacy, and oral health-related self-efficacy was positively correlated with oral health quality of life, which were all statistically significant. It was found that the presence or absence of smoking experience was associated with oral health promotion and improvement of quality of life in foreign students. Thus, the results of this study are expected to be used as basic data by conveying the necessity of developing oral health promotion programs for healthy living of foreign students.

A self-reprting survey was conducted on 665 adolescents. The research findings are as follows: First, there were significant correlations among aggressiveness, smartphone addiction, self-efficacy. Aggressiveness had positively correlations with smartphone addiction. Aggressiveness had a negative correlation with self-efficacy and smartphone addiction had negatively correlation with self-efficacy. Based on the results of this study, that the improvement of youth self-efficacy influence on the prevention and solution of smartphone addiction was discussed.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effects of the self efficacy promoting program on self efficacy and performance of preventive health behavior of uterine cervical cancer for community nurses. Method: A one group quasi-experimental research with pre and post test design was used. The subjects of the study were consisted of twenty two community nurses in a city in Korea. The whole program was carried out from July to September, 2003. The effect of the program was analyzed at the first week, the fifth week, and the ninth week since the experiment input began. Data were analyzed with repeated ANOVA to determine the effects of program. Results: 1) After the self efficacy promoting program, self efficacy scores were significantly increased compared to those before the program(F=12.029. p=0.005). 2) After the self efficacy promoting program, preventive health behavior scores were significantly increased than those before the program(F=10.431. p=0.006). Conclusions: This 9-week program showed much affirmative effect on the prevention of uterine cervical cancer for community nurses. Thus this program can be recommended to the management of the prevention and early detection of uterine cancer.
Objectives: The purposes of this study were to examine the contribution of each of the Transtheoretical Model components in explaining stages of smoking cessation and to identify factors associated with the smoking cessation behavior among Korean college students. Methods: The participants for this study were 334 undergraduate students who enrolled in general education courses. Self-report surveys were distributed and returned. The survey variables comprised the stages of change for smoking cessation, self-efficacy, decisional balances and processes of change in smoking cessation. Results: Significant differences were noted in the five stages of change for self-efficacy, decisional balance, and the processes of change. The strongest factor associated with the smoking cessation behavior was self-efficacy. Conclusion: Study findings indicate application of the Transtheoretical Model may be useful to enhance future smoking cessation efforts in college students. The strategies to enhance smoking cessation self-eficacy in college students will be an important intervention component in future studies.

This study aimed to identify the factors influencing health education performance of health promoting hospital nurses. The study was conducted with 231 nurses from four health promoting hospitals. Data were collected from May to June, 2013. Health education performance was positively correlated with education level, years of clinical experience, health promotion role recognition, and self efficacy for health education. Health promotion role recognition (${\beta}=.246$, p=.001), self-efficacy for health education (${\beta}=.282$, p <.001), and clinical experiences (${\beta}=.170$, p=.007) were significant predictors of health promoting hospital nurses' health education performance and explained 27.8% of the variance. The strategies to improve health promotion role recognition and self-efficacy for health education should be developed to improve health education performance of health promoting hospital nurses.
