There are various treatment options such as conventional complete denture, hybrid prosthesis and implant-supported fixed prosthesis for fully edentulous patients. In case of implant-supported fixed prosthesis, compared to removable prosthesis, it is difficult to place the implant in the correct position considering the anatomical contours of the final prosthesis. In this case, a full mouth rehabilitation with implant-supported fixed prosthesis was performed for a patient who required extraction of all remaining teeth due to dental caries and chronic periodontitis. In the implant placement stage, the implant was placed in the desired position using a surgical guide fabricated considering the anatomical contours of the final prosthesis, and the function and esthetics were evaluated through correction and re-fabrication of the fixed provisional restoration. A final restoration of porcelain fused to gold prosthesis was delivered to the patient based on the provisional restoration. To cope with complications such as loosening of screws and fracture of porcelain, a screw-retained type prosthesis was fabricated for the posterior part and a screw-cement-retained type prosthesis for the anterior part. As a result, the patient showed an improved prognosis in terms of functional and esthetics after the final prosthesis was delivered.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and clinical usability of an identification model using deep learning for 79 dental implant types. Materials and Methods: A total of 45396 implant fixture images were collected through panoramic radiographs of patients who received implant treatment from 2001 to 2020 at 30 dental clinics. The collected implant images were 79 types from 18 manufacturers. EfficientNet and Meta Pseudo Labels algorithms were used. For EfficientNet, EfficientNet-B0 and EfficientNet-B4 were used as submodels. For Meta Pseudo Labels, two models were applied according to the widen factor. Top 1 accuracy was measured for EfficientNet and top 1 and top 5 accuracy for Meta Pseudo Labels were measured. Results: EfficientNet-B0 and EfficientNet-B4 showed top 1 accuracy of 89.4. Meta Pseudo Labels 1 showed top 1 accuracy of 87.96, and Meta pseudo labels 2 with increased widen factor showed 88.35. In Top5 Accuracy, the score of Meta Pseudo Labels 1 was 97.90, which was 0.11% higher than 97.79 of Meta Pseudo Labels 2. Conclusion: All four deep learning algorithms used for implant identification in this study showed close to 90% accuracy. In order to increase the clinical applicability of deep learning for implant identification, it will be necessary to collect a wider amount of data and develop a fine-tuned algorithm for implant identification.

In edentulous mandible, implant supported overdenture was considered as a first treatment option. In case of a implant supported telescopic overdenture, sufficient inter-arch space needs for arrangement of artificial teeth and attachment. Passive fit of the implant prosthesis is important factor for preventing mechanical failure. Gold Electroforming System is particularly useful to achieve a passive fit of telescopic attachment and results in precision marginal fit and the small thickness of the coping provides optimal space for narrow inter-arch space. This article presents that application of Gold Electroforming System can provide excellent esthetics and function on four-implant supported telescopic overdenture.

When making conventional removable partial denture for the remaining teeth where the remaining teeth are only on one side, rotation of the denture occurs -in function- on the axis of the connected remaining teeth. If the edentulous portion is long, it becomes harder to obtain retention and stability for the abutment as the importance of the mucous membrane support is elevated. Such movements of denture decrease denture retention and stability, put excessive stress on the abutment, and give bad influence on periodontal health. Therefore, additional implant placement can be of a good choice in gaining additional retention and stability for partial denture. Thus hereby we report this clinical case as successful results were obtained by placing implants symmetrical to the remaining teeth and putting implant-supported surveyed crowns on the implants, allowing the partial denture to be designed to accept varying components and to have suitable path of insertion.

The development of cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT) allows three-dimensional analysis of the patient's anatomy. The surgical guide is a combination of CBCT, computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and implant diagnostics software, which allows well planned prostheses design and ideal implant placement. Guided surgery minimizes possible anatomical damage and allows for more reproducible treatment planning. In this case, the operation time was shortened by using a surgical guide for multiple implants placement in a fully edentulous patient. Immediate loading were performed more easily using preliminary preparation of provisional prosthesis. The patient was satisfied with improved esthetics and chewing function.

Severely absorbed edentulous ridge cannot bear mechanical stress, causes undesired transformation of oral environment and makes patients difficult to adapt to dentures. Nowadays implant overdenture can be a treatment of choice in order to relieve patients' discomfort and improve stability and retention of the denture. Placement of implant on maxilla is difficult because of its bone quality and anatomic structure. It also has wide supportive tissue and convenience of border sealing, which provides sufficient support and stabilization with conventional complete denture. Mandible, on the other hand, is difficult to obtain sufficient support, retention and stabilization with conventional complete denture. Therefore, implant overdenture is recommended on mandible. Locator attachment has been improved for convenience of use and male parts of various retention enabled it to replace ball type attachment clinically. In this study, we restored maxillary arch with conventional denture, and mandibular arch with implant and tissue-supported overdenture and Locator attachment system.
Accurate impression taking for the success of implant prosthesis is a very important process. Methods of taking implant impression include the conventional method using impression coping and impression material, and the digital method using an intraoral scanner and scanbody. However, the impression coping or the scanbody must install after remove healing abutment. Because of this, the dentist must repeat the process of removing and installing the healing abutment, the impression coping or the scanbody several times. In addition, the impression coping or the scanbody rises higher than the occlusal surface, so the patient has the inconvenience of constantly maintaining the open state. Recently, a scannable healing abutment, which can be scanned by a intraoral scanner directly, without the need to remove the healing abutment by applying a scannable part of the scanbody to the healing abutment, was introduced. We present a case of single posterior implant prosthesis using a scannable healing abutment.
Increasing demands for esthetic dental treatment, zirconia, which has high mechanical and esthetic properties, had been applied more and more in clinics. Therefore, assessment of biocompatibility of zirconia is necessary. In this article, a review of in vivo studies of zirconia compatibility was performed. In vivo studies showed zirconia had great biocompatibility both on soft and hard tissue. Studies with various animals and patients reported high biocompatibility of zirconia. In terms of bone synthesis and bone adhesion, zirconia showed similar biocompatible properties to titanium. On the other hand, zirconia could be used as implant. For using as an implant, various methods of Hydroxyapatite (HA) coating had been suggested. Since HA coating on titanium implant showed some problems such as low bonding strength and degeneration of HA, HA-zirconia composite, HA-coated zirconia, and HA-zirconia functionally graded material (FGM) or intermediate layer of alumina had been proposed. These methods showed higher bonding strength and biocompatibility.

Communication and cooperation between dentists and dental technicians are two essential elements for the fabrication of high quality 'custom' prosthesis. For successful communication and cooperation between the two groups, however, dentists and dental technicians must share common understanding about clinical dentistry. Ironically, it is often noticed that they are not really sharing the same clinical knowledge. Although there is a strong association between 'Emergence Profile' of implant prostheses and periodontal health or esthetics, no definite guideline has ever been provided for ideal emergence profile of implant prosthesis in literature. Problems resulted from inherent differences between implants and natural teeth must be acknowledged and shared between dentists and dental technicians so that they can come up with desirable clinical results with implant prostheses.

Maxillary bone defects may follow surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors, trauma, and infection. Palatal defects often lead to problems with swallowing and pronunciation from the leakage of air into the nasal cavity and sinus. Obturators have been commonly used to solve these problems, but long-term use of the device may cause irritation of the oral mucosa or damage to the abutment teeth. Utilizing implants in the edentulous area for the fabrication of the obturators has gained attention. This case report describes a patient, who had undergone partial resection of the maxilla due to adenocarcinoma, in need of a new obturator after losing abutment teeth after long-term use of the previous obturator. Implants were placed in strategic locations, and an implant-retained maxillary obturator was fabricated, showing satisfactory results in the rehabilitation of multiple aspects, including palatal defect, masticatory function, swallowing, pronunciation, and aesthetics.
