  • 임베디드 소프트웨어는 IT기술의 발달과 하드웨어의 다양한 보급 등으로 인해 널리 사용되기 시작했으며, 일반적인 소프트웨어와는 다른 방식으로 제작되며, 절대 표준이 없기 때문에 다양한 방식으로 개발되고 있다. 임베디드 소프트웨어 품질 및 생산성을 위해서는 체계적인 테스팅 방법론이 요구된다. 기존의 테스팅 방법으로는 복잡하고 높은 수준의 임베디드 소프트웨어 기능들을 테스트하는데 한계점이 많다. 본 논문에서는 기존 소프트웨어 테스팅과 임베디드 소프트웨어 테스팅의 차이점을 제시하고 효율적인 임베디드 소프트웨어 테스팅이 가능한 지원도구의 요구사항과 전형적인 방법을 탈피하여 자동화된 테스팅 방법 및 도구인 ESTE(Embedded Software Testing Environments)의 구조와 지원 기능을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Embedded system is tightly coupled with heterogeneous layers such as application, as kernel, device driver, HAL and hardware. Embedded system is customized for the specific purpose and hardware. In addition, the product cycle is so fast that software and hardware, which are developed by several vendors, are integrated together under unstable status. Therefore, there are lots of possibilities of faults in all layers. Because embedded software developers test their codes integrated with faulty layers, they cannot confirm 'whether testing of every aspects was completed, their code was failed, or integrated software/hardware has some problems'. In this paper, we propose an embedded software interface test method and a test tool called Justitia for detecting faults and tracing causes in the interface among heterogeneous layers. The proposed technique is an automated method which improves debugging upto professional testing using an emulator for helping developer.

  • Increasing the importance of Green IT brings low-power consumption requirements for embedded software into relief. This paper focus on the power analysis techniques of embedded software along with the trend. We survey the existing research on the power analysis techniques performed during the last decade, and find out some features or characteristics from the analysis approaches of those techniques. Also we summarize those characteristics into a systematic model, and then apply the model to embedded software development process using spider diagram. Our suggestion gives such benefits as improving the understanding of power analysis techniques, guiding the choice of an appropriate technique to their Power analysis, and forecasting the direction of technology changes in embedded software power analysis.

  • In this paper, we introduce MDA based Development Method for Embedded Software Component. This method applies MDA approach to solve problems about reusability of the heterogeneous embedded software system. With our proposed method, we produce 'Target Independent Meta Model'(TIM) which is transformed into 'Target Specific Model'(TSM) and generate 'Target Dependent Code' (TDC) via TSM. We would like to reuse a meta-model to develop heterogeneous embedded software systems. To achieve this mechanism, we extend xUML to solve unrepresented elements (such as real things about concurrency, and real time, etc) on dynamic modeling of the particular system. We introduce 'MDA based Embedded S/W Modeling Tool' with extended XUML. With this tool, we would like to do more easily modeling embedded or concurrent/real time s/w systems. It contains two examples of heterogeneous imbedded systems which illustrate the proposed approach.

  • 최근 다양한 기능을 구현하는 임베디드 소프트웨어가 포함된 의료기기의 개발이 증가함에 따라 안전성을 보장하기 위한 제 3 자 인증기관에 의한 의료용 임베디드 소프트웨어의 평가의 필요성이 절실하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 평가기준을 제시하는 ISO/IEC 9126을 바탕으로 의료용 임베디드 소프트웨어의 평가 항목을 선정하고, 이에 적절한 가중치를 산출하여 보다 객관적이고 정량적인 평가를 수행할 수 있는 평가 기준을 개발하고자 한다.

  • 2015년 6월 MSC 95차 위원회에서 e-navigation 소프트웨어 품질 보증 가이드라인이 회람문서로 정식 등재되었다. 이 가이드라인은 소프트웨어 개발 라이프사이클에 따라 소프트웨어를 개발하며 필요한 품질 보증 절차 활동과 사용자의 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 제품의 개발을 위한 인간중심설계 절차를 제시한다. 본 논문에서는 e-navigation 소프트웨어 품질보증 가이드라인을 심층분석하여 해양 임베디드 응용 소프트웨어 품질보증을 위한 사용성평가 시험절차 개발에 필요한 연관된 국제표준 및 기존 연구를 조사 분석 후 연구하였다.

Embedded Software Reliability Modeling with COTS Hardware Components (COTS 하드웨어 컴포넌트 기반 임베디드 소프트웨어 신뢰성 모델링)

  • There has recently been a trend that IT industry is united with traditional industries such as military, aviation, automobile, and medical industry. Therefore, embedded software which controls hardware of the system should guarantee the high reliability, availability, and maintainability. To guarantee these properties, there are many attempts to develop the embedded software based on COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) hardware components. However, it can cause additional faults due to software/hardware interactions beside general software faults in this methodology. We called the faults, Linkage Fault. These faults have high severity that makes overall system shutdown although their occurrence frequency is extremely low. In this paper, we propose a new software reliability model which considers those linkage faults in embedded software development with COTS hardware components. We use the Bayesian Analysis and Markov Chain Monte-Cairo method to validate the model. In addition, we analyze real linkage fault data to support the results of the theoretical model.

  • Recently, together with a new advent of embedded processor developed to support specific application area, and it evolution, a new study of software development to support the embedded processor and its commercial use has been revitalized. Specially, In a mobile device that is built-in embedded processor, software management is as important as hardware management for the limited power/energy. In this paper, we suggest that the code generation technique considering the energy dissipation through the verified retargetable compiler backend tool, EXPRESSION. For this goals, we describes the efficient code generation patterns and showed the variable performance results.

  • Computing systems in the modern era are expanding rapidly to include mobile-based businesses that make us of the various convergence distributed business process. This has lead to growing interest in the field of mobile embedded software development methodology, which has in turn lead to the proliferation of the embedded mobility. The use of CBD (Component Based Development) provides reusability, maintainability and portability, all of which are very important and focus issues to the business process. It also comes with the inherent productivity, quality and reliability of CBD. To make efficient use of CBD, though, clarified interface definitions for component integration are necessary. These definitions should be made up of collaborative hierarchical and horizontal architecture layers. Successful definitions should apply an effective framework made up of the architecture and process. In this paper, we describe an interface specification for small grained mobile embedded components(MEC) for the mobile embedded domain to meet maximum user requirements. We build and deploy the reconfigurable design patterns and components (in business domain categories) to make a component hierarchy and business logics for mobile embedded software. Proposed components specification plays a major role in development of the software for handling inconsistency in existing specification. It also includes plenty of specification information, using semantics and modeling based mechanisms to support business processes. We propose a development model of mobile embedded software using CBD for very complex and dynamic mobile business. We can apply it in a plug and play manner to develop the software. We verify that our framework supports very good productivity, quality and maintainability to meet the user's requirements in mobile business.

  • 기존 소프트웨어 테스팅 기법은 개발자가 수동으로 테스트 케이스를 작성해야 하는 비효율성으로 인해 임베디드 소프트웨어의 안정성 확보에 어려움이 있다. Concolic 테스팅 기법은 자동으로 소프트웨어 테스트 케이스를 생성함으로써 기존 소프트웨어 테스팅 기법의 문제를 해결했지만, 임베디드 소프트웨어 테스트에 필수적인 bitwise 연산을 지원하지 않는 등의 문제가 있었다. 본 논문에서는 임베디드 소프트웨어를 위해 bitwise 연산을 지원하는 Concolic 테스팅 개선 방법에 대한 연구를 수행하고 오픈 소스 임베디드 소프트웨어 Busybox에 적용하여 기존 연구와 결과를 비교하였다. Busybox의 10개 유틸리티에 적용한 결과 기존 연구 결과 대비 평균 33%의 분기 커버리지 향상이 있었다.
