This study investigated the background of the first and revised editions of the Han-Un Decimal Classification(HUDC), and analyzed their relationships to and influences on other major related classification systems. HUDC was compiled in 1954 and revised in 1981. HUDC was influenced by NDC in most classes of main classes and mnemonic schedules, and influenced by KDCP in the classes Religion, Language and Literature.

The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement KDC 5th ed. as a system. After analyzing and evaluating time & space devices of KDC 5th ed.(including DDC 22th ed. and NDC 9th ed.). such as main schedules, common auxiliary tables, internal tables and notes, suggestions for the improvement were proposed. If above suggestions are adopted, effective literature classification scheme which is suited to domestic circumstances will be certainly prepared.

This study aims to analyze and compare the structures of auxiliary tables regarding places - for example, Korea using several decimal classification systems such as DDC, UDC, KDC and NDC. For each auxiliary table, the codes were described in detail and the special characteristics were discussed. The common characteristics and the different aspects of different decimal classification systems were investigated as well as divisions of Korea in Korean Wikipedia and an administrative district classification system. This study suggests a new basic summary for the expansion of codes of Korea in auxiliary table in DDC with its principles and options and it will be useful for revising process of many decimal classification systems.

The notes of the classification system are to improve the accuracy and consistency of classification by providing useful information on classification numbers and items. Even though, several notes are used in KDC, they are not enough to keep up with rapidly developing and expanding knowledge of nowadays. The purpose of this study is to suggest appropriate types and improvements of the notes in KDC 5th edition. In order to achieve these purposes, transition of notes in KDC was analyzed. Notes of DDC 23rd edition, NDC new 9th edition, and KDC 5th edition were also analyzed. Based upon these comparison and analysis, problem and improvement of notes in KDC were suggested.

The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement of KDC 5th ed. in Jurisprudence Field. The research methods are as follows. First, to analyze academic fields in Jurisprudence, the contents of Jurisprudence introductory books are investigated. Second, to find out the problem of KDC Jurisprudence field, comparative analysis is done on the three classification schemes - KDC, DDC and NDC. Third, curriculum of domestic law schools are reflected. If above suggestions are adopted, effective literature classification scheme which is suited to domestic circumstances will be certainly prepared.

The purposes of this study are to review characteristics and research areas of environmental studies; to compare and analyze environmental studies in research classifications and Korean societies from Korea Research Foundation(KRF) as well as decimal classification systems such as KDC, DDC, NDC and to suggest several modifications for environmental studies in KDC for the next edition. First of all, environmental philosophy, environmental sociology, environmental education, environmental toxicology, environmental architecture, and environmental geography are suggested to add to the main schedule in KDC and -0276 green technology(environmental technology) is suggested to add to Table 1. Standard subdivision. And new classification numbers for environmental law and environmental public administration are suggested in law and public administration.

This study investigated general problems concerning the social welfare field in the KDC 6th edition based comparative analysis academic characteristics and classification system, and suggested on some ideas for the improvements of them. Results of the study are summarized as follows. First, a main field of the social welfare is generally divided into a general social welfare, social works, and social welfare services to special classes and groups including people with disabilities, young people, aged, women, and families. Second, I analyzed on social welfare from the collection database at the National Library of Korea. Based on analysis of the data. the keyword frequency of social welfare policy and management, pensions, care services, and support works for the underprivileged was relatively high. Third, modified classification of items was basically performed through the academic characteristics of the social welfare and the keyword analysis, and maintaining the existing KDC classification system caused less confusion as much as possible.
