The Study for Utilization of Pork Bone as Calcium Reinforcement Diet (칼슘 보강식이를 위한 돼지 뼈의 이용에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of boiling with apple vinegar and citric acid on the dissolution of Ca, Mg, and P out of pork rib bone during stew preparation was investigated. As the concentration (0, 1, 2. 4%) of apple vinegar and citric acid increased, the amount of Ca, Mg, and P dissolved out of the rib bone increased compared with the control. The increase in boiling time(3, 6, 9, 12 hour) also showed the same result. Between the two acid condiments citric acid extracted more Ca, Mg, and P than the apple vinegar at the same concentration. The pH of the pork rib bone stew added with the acid condiments increased gradually during the boiling process. Between the two acid condiments the apple vinegar extracted more amino acids and protein than citric acid at the same concentration.

Physicochemical and Sensory Characteristics of Beef-bone Broths Prepared under Atmospheric Pressure and Overpressure (상압과 가압조건에서 제조한 소뼈 용출액의 이화학 및 관능 특성)

  • This study was conducted to compare the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of beef-bone broths prepared under atmospheric pressure (BBAP) and overpressure (BBOP). Beef-bone was boiled in water (bone/water=1:2, w/w) for 1, 2, 4, 6, and 12 h under atmospheric pressure and overpressure ($121^{\circ}C$, 1.25 atm). The BBOP broth samples were found to contain significantly higher amounts of solid, crude protein, crude ash, collagen, and chondroitin sulfate than the BBAP broth samples for a given boiling time (p<0.05). In addition, the Ca and Mg contents in the BBAP samples were higher than those in the BBOP samples, whereas the P, Na, and K contents were higher in BBOP than BBAP. The L value of BBAP was also significantly higher than that of BBOP (p<0.05). Further, as the boiling time increased, turbidity increased in the BBAP samples. In the quantitative descriptive analysis, the BBOP samples exhibited stronger brownness, transparency, meaty off-odor, meaty off-flavor, and sulfuric odor than the BBAP samples.

Fabrication of Mineral Coating for Slow-releasing Action and Characteristic (완효성을 위한 광물질 피복의 제조와 용출특성연구)

  • Porous mineral coating have been fabricated and applied for basic research on their slow release action to a fertilizer. Feldspar was selected as raw mineral for the coating and two different particle sizes of powder were prepared. Slow-release action was estimated by using a potassium sulfate fertilizer. Spherical pellets were prepared with a pan-type pelletizer and then screened into sizes ranging 1.4 to 2.35mm. While the fertilizer pellets were rotated in the pelletizer again, the feldspar powder and 0.5% polyvinyl alcohol solution were simultaneously sprayed on the pellets. The fertilizer pellets coated with feldspar powder were fabricated. The pellets were heated to increase their strength and screened to sort by coating thickness. Potassium releasing tests were conducted for 40 days and the performance for slow-release action was estimated as functions of the heating temperature, coating thickness and raw mineral powder size. The Burst effect caused high initial releasing rate. Releasing kinetics was proportional to concentration of potassium in pellets. The pellet that was fabricated with $27.4{\mu}m$-sized feldspar and heated at $1050^{\circ}C$ showed a releasing rate of 43% on the 40th day.

Calculation of Phosphorus Release Flux from Benthic Sediments in Sookchun Lake (소옥천 호소 저서퇴적물의 인 용출률 산정)

  • This study examined pollution level of sediment in Sookchun lake, and studied dredging validity by examining phosphorous release characteristics on surface polluted soil. Total phosphorous, the principal cause of algal blooms, exceeded dredging assessment standards regarding Daechung lake (1.5 mg/g) at all points. Also at all points, total nitrogen exceeded the dredging assessment standard regarding Paldang Lake (1.1 mg/g), but fell short of the standard regarding Daechung lake (3.0 mg/g). Dredging zone was suggested in this study is Chuso water body (WS-6~WS-12) in Sookchun lake. In relation to sediment pollution levels measured at different depths, LOI tended to decrease as it became deeper. The concentrations of T-N varied depending upon the depth as well as points, but no regular pattern was observed. The depth and site did not significantly influence T-P. From the results of phosphorous release tests, it was shown that total phosphorous release flux was calculated to be $7.2{\sim}15.4mg/m^2/d$ for anaerobic condition, $0.5{\sim}2.0mg/m^2/d$ for aerobic condition and $2.0{\sim}4.1mg/m^2/d$ for facultative condition. Release flux and T-P concentration of surface sediments had positive correlation ($R^2$ 0.7871). And The corelation between release flux and DO condition in reactor had strong negative correlation ($R^2$ 0.8824).

광미/광폐석 처리를 위한 고형화 공정 실증 실험

  • 본 연구에서는 폐광산 주변에 산재되어 있는 광미/광폐석을 처리하기 위하여 고형화 실증 실험을 수행하였다. 고형화 공정에서 흔히 사용하는 포틀랜드 시멘트와 MSG-E, MSG-N을 고화제로 사용하였으며 현장 광미 및 광폐석을 대상으로 고화체를 양생하고 고화체의 압축강도 및 중금속 용출 정도를 측정하였다. 고화체의 물리/화학적 특성을 비교하기 위해 광미/고화제 비율, 배합수/고화제 비율 그리고 고화체 양생기간을 실험인자로 설정하였다. 실험 결과 광미/고화제의 비율 1:1 만을 고려하더라도 중금속 용출의 급격한 감소가 이루어지는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며 광미/고화제의 비율을 3:1 이하로 유지시키는 경우, 고화체의 압축강도가 현행 폐기물 관리법(20조 관련)에서 규정하고 있는 차단형 매립시설 내부막의 압축강도 기준인 $0.21kgf/mm^2$ 보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다양한 pH를 갖는 수용액에 대하여 시간에 따른 고화체의 중금속 용출률을 측정한 결과, 수용액의 pH가 1과 13인 강산/강염기 용액에서 일부 중금속의 용출 농도가 지하수 생활용수 기준치를 초과하였으나, pH와 3 - 11인 경우에는 중금속 용출률이 급격히 감소하여 모두 기준치 이하를 나타내었다. 또한, pH가 1과 13인 수용액의 경우에도 고화체와 반응하는 시간이 증가할수록 고화체의 buffering 효과에 의해 수용액의 pH가 감소하였다. 이러한 결과는 현장에서 접촉수의 pH가 강산이나 강염기라 하여도, 고화체의 buffering 효과에 의해 시간이 지남에 따라 수용액의 pH가 낮아져 고화체로부터의 중금속 용출은 매우 감소할 것임을 의미한다.ss of an active application defined using the model. Modeling of Water Quality with Sediment-Water Interaction at Sea Bottom in Semi-enclosed Coastal Waters - Application to Osaka Bay (폐쇄성 내만에 있어서 수질$\cdot$저질 상호작용 모델링)

  • In this study, we developed a model to simulate the interaction between sediment and the overlying water. The model deals with water-sediment interaction in terms of the sedimentation of organic detritus from the pelagic zone into the benthic zone and the release of nutrients occurring in the reverse direction. The model was tested and verified by comparing the predicted release rates of phosphorus from the sediment in Osaka Bay with actual observed values. The results accurately reproduced the seasonal change in release rates. The results well represented seasonal change of the release rates. A long-term prediction of water and sediment quality was performed for the period from 1950 to 1999. Nutrient loads from land and the boundary conditions of 3-D baroclinic flows were season-adjusted. The model accurately reproduced the changing trends in phosphorus, nitrogen, and COD concentrations in Osaka Bay over a long period of time.

Study of Solidification by Using Portland and MSG(micro silica grouting) Cements for Metal Mine Tailing Treatment (금속 광미 처리를 위한 포틀랜드 시멘트와 MSG(micro silica grouting) 시멘트 고형화 실증 실험 연구)

  • Batch scale experiments to investigate the efficiency of the solidification process for metal mine tailing treatment were performed. Portland and MSG (micro silica pouting) cements were used as solidifier and three kinds of mine tailings (located at Gishi, Daeryang, and Aujeon mine) were mixed with cements to paste solidified matrices. Single axis com-pressible strengths of solidified matrices were measured and their heavy metal extraction ratios were calculated to investigate the solidification efficiency of solidified matrices created in experiments. Solidified matrices ($5cm{\times}5cm{\times}5cm$) were molded from the paste of tailing and cements at various conditions such as different tailing/cement ratio, cement/water ratio, and different cement or tailing types. Compressible strengths of solidified matrices after 7, 14, and 28 day cementation were measured and their strengths ranged from 1 to $2kgf/mm^2$, which were higher than Korean limit of compressible strength for the inside wall of the isolated landfill facility ($0.21kgf/mm^2$). Heavy metal extractions from intact tailings and powdered matrices by using the weak acidic solution were performed. As concentration of extraction solution for the powdered solidified matrix (Portland cement + Gishi tailing at 1:1 w.t. ratio) decreased down to 9.7 mg/L, which was one fifth of As extraction concentration for intact Gishi tailings. Pb extraction concentration of the solidified matrix also decreased to lower than one fourth of intact tailing extraction concentration. Heavy metal extraction batch experiments by using various pH conditions of solution were also performed to investigate the solidification efficiency reducing heavy metal extraction rate from the solidified matrix. With pH 1 and 13 of solution, Zn and Pb concentration of solution were over the groundwater tolerance limit, but at pH $1{\sim}13$ of solution, heavy metal concentrations dramatically decreased and were lower than the groundwater tolerance limit. While the solidified matrix was immerged Into very acidic or basic solution (pH 1 and 13), pH of solution changed to $9{\sim}10$ because of the buffering effect of the matrix. It was suggested that the continuous extraction of heavy metals from the solidified matrix is limited even in the extremely high or low pH of contact water. Results of experiments suggested that the solidification process by using Portland and MSG cements has a great possibility to treat heavy metal contaminated mine tailing.

A Study on the Characteristics of microbial surface for Enhanced Efficiency of Mine Tailings Cleanup (광미 정화의 효율 증진을 위한 미생물 표면 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 충북 단양에 위치한 조일 광산에서 채취한 구리와 아연으로 오염된 광미(광산 폐기물로서 금속 추출 후 남은 찌꺼기)를 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 생물학적 용출기법(bioleaching) 에서 기본 배지 조성(9K medium)을 변화시켜 미생물의 표면 특성을 측정하고 미생물 표면 특성이 용출 효율에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 인을 첨가하지 않았을 때 소수성 값은 62.5%, 질소원 농도가 45mM일 때의 소수성 값은 66.7%로 미생물 표면 특성이 가장 소수성인 특성을 가지고 있었으며, 구리와 아연의 용출 효율도 가장 높게 나타나는 상관 관계를 나타냈다. 또한 광미에 부착된 미생물의 양을 측정해 본 결과, 미생물 표면 특성이 소수성일수록 광미에 부착된 미생물의 양도 많다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Immediate Drug Release Enhancement of Nateglinide Using Fumaric Acid (푸마르산을 이용한 나테글리니드 함유 속방출형 제형의 약물방출 개선에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to improve release rate and bioavailability of nateglinide formulation. Polymorphism selection and particle size control were performed to enhance formulation dissolution rate, and a pH modifier was included in the formulation to overcome pH-dependent solubility of nateglinide. The enhanced dissolution rate was characterized by using a dissolution test. The results showed that H-type raw material had a higher dissolution rate than that of B-type raw material. There was 6.2% difference in dissolution between the two materials at 60 min. With regard to particle size, raw material with a $1.13{\mu}m$ particle size showed a 20% faster release rate than that of raw material with a $2.28{\mu}m$ particle size. Furthermore, fumaric acid was included in formulation as a pH modifier. That addition produced a greater than 50% improvement in dissolution rate. In conclusion, dissolution rate of nateglinide can be enhanced by optimizing its polymorphism and particle size; moreover, a synergistic effect on the enhancement of dissolution rate is obtained by including fumaric acid, a pH modifier, in the formulation.

Effect of Ponded Water on Variation of Redox Potential and Phosphorus Concentration in a Paddy Field (논에서 담수가 토양 산화.환원전위 변화와 인의 용출에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 충북대학교 부속농장에서 2009년 영농기간을 중심으로 담수된 논에서의 산화환원전위(Eh)의 변화와 시비에 따라 영양물질인 인(P)의 농도변화 특성을 파악함으로써, 논으로 부터의 인의 유출제어에 관한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이 연구는 2009년 5월부터 11월까지 논에서 담수의 총인(T-P)과 인산염 인($PO_4$-P)의 농도변화와 토양의 산화환원전위(Eh)와의 관계 특성을 파악하였다. 관개기의 논에서 인은 분얼비 시기에 인성분이 시비되지 않았는데도 불구하고 T-P농도가 0.68 mg/L로 높게 나타났다. 이는 담수의 영향으로 논이 환원상태로 되어, 논바닥에 침전된 철이온에 흡착되어 있던 인이 철이온의 환원으로 함께 용출하기 때문이라고 생각된다. 높은 Eh는 산화경향을, 낮은 Eh는 환원경향을 나타낸다. 본 연구기간 동안의 Eh 값은 연속적으로 담수되었던 7월 중순까지는 74~112 mV 가량 나타냈고, 그 이후에는 담수상태가 아닌 경우가 많아 179~636 mV로 높게 나타났다. 논 담수의 T-P와 $PO_4$-P 농도는 분얼비 직후 1주일후까지 같이 상승하다가 T-P농도는 약 2주일까지 더 상승한 반면 $PO_4$-P 농도는 하강하였는데 이는 논 토양이 환원상태로 되면서 바닥에 있던 입자성 인이 논 표면으로 떠올랐기 때문으로 사료된다. 그 후에는 담수가 끝나는 시점까지인 농도는 낮아졌다. 관개초기에 인의 농도는 비교적 높게 나타났지만, 7월 이후로는 작물의 생장에 필요한 영양물질 섭취 등으로 인 농도가 낮게 나타났는데 이는 7월 이후의 논은 인의 유출을 억제하고 있는 것으로 추정된다. 또한 논 담수위의 증감에 따른 $PO_4$-P 농도와 Eh 값을 회귀분석 한 결과 각각 정의 상관관계와 부의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 논 담수 및 시비에 따른 인의 유출부하 특성과 산화환원전위(Eh)의 변화 특성이 규명된다면, 향후 환경부하가 작은 물관리가 가능해 질 것으로 판단된다.
