Objectives : Based on the fact that cognitive functions decline known as comorbid symptoms of depression can precede depression, this study seeks to observe the effects of depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms on cognitive function in healthy subjects. Methods : To recruit 50 general populations to evaluate cognitive and clinical symptoms and to find out the effects of clinical symptoms on cognitive functions, Pearson correlation and multivariate regression were conducted. Correlation analysis of subdomain cognitive function was conducted for reliability analysis. Results : Trail making test-B that evaluates the execution function correlates with depressive symptoms (r=0.300, p=0.03) and age (r=0.323, p=0.02). Depressive symptoms (β=0.304, p=0.03) and age (β=0.335, p=0.01) were significantly related to Trail making test -B (Adjusted R2=0.148). Subjective cognitive tests correlates with anxiety symptoms (r=0.434, p=0.002). In the correlation between cognitive functional items, Subjective cognitive tests was found to be correlated with other test except Spotter. Conclusions : In this study, depressive symptoms contribute independently to executive functions in addition to demographic characteristics such as age and duration of education. Given that cognitive decline is a common long-term clinical outcome in depression, we expect active early intervention and evaluation of cognitive function to be helpful.
In the Digital Transformation infrastructure at the addition to research on mental health such as depression and well-being, research on middle-aged health requires a study consisting of specific measures of cognitive health. This study used social, mental, and physical cognitive health as a sub-domain of cognitive health. The purpose of this study was to investigate the positive effects of volunteer activities on cognitive health for middle-aged women. The questionnaire survey was conducted on middle-aged women aged 40 to 59, focusing on the question "How well does cognitive health work for middle-aged women through volunteer activities?" The goal of this study is to examine the effect of volunteer activities on the cognitive health of middle-aged women and to analyze the meaning and influencing factors of volunteer activities needed to maintain the desirable life of middle-aged women and the healthy life of the elderly. This study examined the mental health status (depression, cognitive impairment and dementia) and its association with the related factors in the elderly people who were admitted from long-term care insurance. The study subjects were 1,488 people (male 740, female 748) aged over 70 years of age who had been recognized for long-term care insurance services in the years 2011~2014 from the National Health Insurance Corporation. The data collected from the National Health Insurance Corporation set forth a lifestyle questionnaire, itemized health screening tests, and long-term care as recognition data for research purposes. As a result, depression, cognitive impairment, and dementia of subjects increased significantly with age. As a multiple logistic regression result, the risk ratios of depression, cognitive impairment, and dementia, which indicated the mental health status, were significantly higher in women than in men, in the lower body weight group than in the overweight group, in the smoking group than in the non-smoking group, and in the drinking group than in the non-drinking group. These results suggest that the mental health status (depression, cognitive impairment, and dementia) of subjects decreased with increasing age, particularly the group with poor health related behaviors, such as smoking, drinking, and regular exercise, indicating that the mental health condition is lower than in the good group.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is well known to have a limited response to drug treatment. Many recently published clinical care guidelines recommend trauma-focused psychotherapies such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and prolonged exposure therapy (PE) as first-line treatment and medication such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors and venlafaxine as second-line treatment. Current review introduces the session composition and contents of CPT and presents various CPT studies that show therapeutic effect for civilian and veterans/military with PTSD. In order for clinicians to help effectively patients with PTSD, it is necessary to learn and actively use evidence-based trauma-focused psychotherapies including CPT and PE.
Objectives : This study aimed to investigate quality of life, severity of depression, suicidality, subjective health and subjective stress of depression with subjective cognitive decline in Korean adults. Methods : We used the 7th KNHANES data to enroll 415 participants with a score of 10 or higher on Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), aged 20-64. Depression was divided into two groups based on the presence/absence of subjective cognitive decline. Demographic and psychological characteristics were compared between two groups. Correlation analysis of subjective cognitive decline, quality of life, depression, suicidal idea was carried out. To detect which variables influenced quality of life, a multiple regression analysis was carried out. Results : Among the 415 participants, 98 had depression with subjective cognitive decline. We identified significant differences in age, marital status, education, employment between the two groups. After adjusting for these variables, depression with subjective cognitive decline had lower EuroQol-5D index scores, more severe depressive symptoms without cognition and worse subjective health than depression without cognitive decline. There was a significant correlation between subjective cognitive decline and quality of life (r=-0.236, p<0.001), suicidal idea (r=0.182, p<0.001), depression score without cognition (r=0.108, p=0.028). Through multiple regression analysis, subjective cognitive decline was predictor of reduced quality of life (β=-0.178, p<0.001). Conclusions : Depression with subjective cognitive decline has poor quality of life and severe depression. Cognitive decline should be considered to improve treatment result in depression.

Mental health were positively correlated with ego resilience (r=.450, p<.001), cognitive emotion regulation strategies (r=.408, p<.001), and was negatively correlated with academic stress (r=-.469, p<.001). Regression analysis showed 38.4% of variance in nursing student's the mental health can by experience of dating with age (β=-.171, p=.001), adjustment to college life (β=.223, p<.001), ego resilience (β=.203, p<.001), cognitive emotion regulation strategies (β=.179, p=.001), academic stress (β=-.193, p=.001). The fallow-up survey about various factors influencing nursing student's the mental health increasing program developing are required.
The purpose of this study is to assess the relationships of alcohol consumption patterns to mental distress and self-rated health. Data of 19,856 adult drinkers over 19 years of age and older from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were evaluated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Risks of experiencing perceived high stress, depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts were higher in alcohol use disorder group in male, whereas the risks were higher in both alcohol use disorder and hazardous drinking groups in female, reflecting higher susceptibility to mental distress. In both male and female, former drinkers presented poor self-rated health compared with low-risk drinkers, although no difference was found in the prevalence of mental distress. Specialized mental health management measures for female drinkers are required, and former drinkers are suggested to be assessed separately from never or low-risk drinkers for their physical and mental health status.
This study aimed to examine the predictors of mental health confidence(MHC) among individuals in psychiatric long-term care facilities(PLCF). It further examined whether the predictors and underlying mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization. Sample consisted of 1,742 individuals residing in PLCF who participated in the Survey on PLCF. Structural equational modeling was used to examine the predictors of MHC. Multi-group Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) was used to examine whether the predictors and mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization between those of 10 years or less (n=962) and 10 years and more (n=780). Major findings were as follows. (1) Education, duration of mental illness, and psychiatric symptoms were significantly related to MHC. (2) Duration of mental illness presented significant indirect effects on MHC via its effects on perceived stigma. (3) The predictors and underlying mechanisms differed by the length of hospitalization. Based on the findings, implications and limitations of the research were discussed.

This study was performed to determine the level of physical health(ADL, IADL) and mental health (cognitive impairment, dementia) among centenarians and to find the related factors. The study subjects were 268 centenarians who received medical check-ups from the National Health Insurance Corporation during 2011-2014. From the results, the factors that significantly influenced the ADL of the study subjects were gender, residential area, IADL, cognitive impairment and dementia. ADL and cognitive impairment were selected as the influencing factors of IADL, smoking status, ADL and IADL were selected as the influencing factors of cognitive impairment, and gender and ADL were selected as the influencing factors of dementia. These results suggested that the levels of physical and mental health of the centenarians were significantly affected by socio-demographic characteristics and health-related variables. Especially, the levels of physical and mental health were decreased with the poor group of health-related variables such as smoking, alcohol drinking and regular exercise.
