  • 본 논문은 색약자가 웹을 통한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 사용시 정상인이 인지하는 것과 동등한 정보를 인지 할 수 있도록 컴퓨터화된 색약 진단 및 보정이 통합된 시스템의 상용화 개발에 관한 것이다. 개발된 시스템은 인증 및 진단을 하는 CVDWeb 서버와 클라이언트에 다운 로드 되어 보정을 하는 WebAgent 로 구성되어 있어 사용이 쉽고, 서버의 부하를 최소로 줄일 수 있으며, 텍스트, 이미지 및 동영상의 실시간 처리 및 원색 보정이 가능하다.

Mental States in Information Search Process (정보검색과정에서의 정신적 상태)

  • This study examined the differences in a searcher's mental states of a complex information search and retrieval task during information search process between the two groups: participants who were exposed to mental demand manipulation and those not exposed. Data from the experiments and questionnaires were analyzed. Based on qualitative approach and quantitative analyses, the results indicated that the participants exposed to mental demand required more thoughts; addressed negative emotions more often; reduced a searcher's efforts; and interrupted search performance than those not exposed. These results suggest that mental demand contributed to a searcher's perceived thought, emotion, effort, and performance, although these mental states differed in relative contribution of information search process. Significant differences were found between the two groups with respect to the component of mental demand, performance, and frustration of the NASA-TLX subjective cognitive load. These results have implications for search user interface design and information search systems among others.

  • 차량용 증강현실 기술은 운전자의 신체적 인지적 부하를 최소화함으로써 운전자의 안전과 편의를 달성하기 위한 목적으로 차량에서 제공되는 정보를 운전자의 시야에 맞게 운전자 전방 실세계에 정합하여 제공하는 기술이다. 최근 차량의 지능화와 증강현실기술 접목의 다양화 및 디스플레이 기술의 급진한 발전으로 차량용 HUD(Head Up Display)기술 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 특히 최근에는 국내외 자동차 제조사 및 연구기관을 중심으로 AR(Augmented Reality)기술을 차량용 HUD에 접목한 AR-HUD 기술 개발이 진행 중이다. 본고에서는 이러한 배경을 토대로 차량용 HUD 기술 및 차량용 AR 기술의 개발 현황과 관련 이슈에 관하여 살펴보고자 한다.

  • 새로운 한글 자판 배열이 제안되었다. 자판에서 키 선택을 위한 기본적인 원칙들과 유추되는 제안들이 간략하게 설명되었으며, 나아가 이들에 토대한 키 배열이 선택되었다. 가장 중요한 원칙은 한글에 대한 인지모형을 따라서 자음중에서 초성자와 종성자의 구분이 같은 키에서 Shift의 동작의 유무로 이루어지는 점이며, 따라서 2벌식과 3벌식의 중간 형태로 생각될 수 있으므로, 본 자판 배열은 2.5벌식으로 명명하였다. 구체적인 키들의 배열은 최근에 조사된 신빙성있는 현대 한글에 대한 자소 빈도수와 손가락에 대한 부하를 고려해서 결정되었다.

  • Decrease in crew performance is frequently cited as a major causal factor in maritime accidents. Although considerable researches on working hours undertaken by seafarers have been conducted through interviews and record analyses, experimental studies on the effects of factors, such as high workload, shift patterns, stress, sleep deprivation, and disturbance on the cognitive performance of mariners have been limited. Other safety-critical transport industries, such as aviation and rail, have developed fatigue management tools to help managements in the work patterns of their operators. Such tools for mariners would assist shipboard crews, marine pilots, and shore managers for planning and improving work schedules. The overall aim of this paper is to determine a fatigue factor that can be applied to human performance data as a part of a software program that calculates total cognitive performance. This program enables us to establish the levels of cognitive performance in a group of marine pilots in order to test a decision-making task based on radar information. This paper addresses one of the factors that may contribute to the determination of various fatigue factors: the effects of different work patterns on the cognitive performance of a marine pilot.

Main Cause of the Interference between Visual Search and Spatial Working Memory Task (시각 탐색과 공간적 작업기억간 상호 간섭의 원인)

  • Oh and Kim (2004) and Woodman and Lurk (2004) demonstrated that spatial working memory (SWM) load Interfered concurrent visual search and that search process also impaired the maintenance of spatial information implying that visual search and SWM task both require access to the same limited-capacity mechanism. Two obvious possibilities have been suggested about what this shared limited-capacity mechanism is: common demand for attention to the locations where the items f9r the two tasks were presented (spatial attention load hypothesis), and common use of working memory to maintain a record of locations have been processed(SWM load hypothesis). To test these two hypothetical explanations, Experiment 1 replicated the mutual interference between visual search and SWM task in spite of difference of procedure with preceding researches; possible areas where the items for two tasks were presented were not separated. In Experiment 2, we presented the items for visual search either in the same quadrants where the items for SWM task had appeared (same-location rendition) or in the different quadrants (different-location condition). As a result, search efficiency was more impaired in the different-location condition than in the same-location condition. The memory accuracy was worse in the different-location rendition than in the same-location rendition. Overall results of study indicate that the mutual interference between SWM and visual search might be related to the overload of spatial attention, but not to that of SWM.

Load-Aware Cell Selection Method for Efficient Use of Network Resources (효율적 망 자원 이용을 위한 부하 인지 셀 선택 기법)

  • Downlink (DL) data rate for a MS is influenced by not only the signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) but also the amount of radio resources allocated to the MS. Therefore, when a MS uses SINR to select a cell to associate with, it cannot receive the fastest DL data rate all the time if it associates with a congested cell. Moreover, the SINR-based cell selection may result in cell loads unbalance, which decreases the efficiency of a network. To address the issue, we propose a novel cell selection method by considering not only SINR but also a cell load which are combined into two cell selection criteria. One is the maximum achievable data rate and the other is the minimum outage probability. The simulation results show that the cell selection based on the maximum achievable data rate is superior to the SINR-based method and the method using the minimum outage probability in terms of the system efficiency and the fairness in cell loads while the cell selection method based on the minimum outage probability is superior to the others in terms of the outage probability of a MS.

  • Cellular Phone use while driving is one of the critical causes of traffic accident by falling the driver into the improper lookout and inattention situations by disturbing the driving behaviors and by increasing the driver's mental workloads. These days, therefore, governments in many countries are trying to Prohibit the cellular Phone use while driving by the law focused on the hand-held type of cellular phone. This Paper investigated the impacts on the hands-free cellular Phone use while driving to the drivers Performance among normal and two different level of secondary task driving conditions in the urban of Japan. As the results, quantitative differences of drivers eye movement, subjective mental workload, steering wheel angle entropy, and cognitive Performance of secondary tasks were compared between straight and curve (right turn) section for each driving condition.

  • In seeking to improve the workload efficiency and inference capability of context-aware systems, we propose a new framework for an advanced teaming mechanism that uses improved bath propagation (BP) algorithm. Even though a learning mechanism is one of the most important parts in a context-aware system, the existing algorithms focused on facilitating systems by elaborating the learning mechanism with user's context information are rare. BP is the most adaptable algorithm for learning mechanism of context-aware systems. By using the improved BP algorithm, the framework we proposed drastically improves the inference capability so that the overall performance is far better than other systems. Also, using the special system cache, the framework manages the workload efficiently. Experiments show that there is an obvious improvement in overall performanre of the context-awareness systems using the proposed framework.

Implementation of a Vehicle Monitoring System using Multimodal Information (다중 정보를 활용하는 차량 모니터링 시스템의 구현)

  • In order to detect driver's state in a driver safety system, both overt and covert measures such as driving performance, visual attention, physiological arousal and traffic situation should be collected and interpreted in the driving context. In this paper, we suggest a vehicle monitoring system that provides multimodal information on a broad set of measures simultaneously collected from multiple domains including driver, vehicle and road environment using an elaborate timer equipped as a soft synchronization mechanism. Using a master timer that records key values from various modules with the same master time of short and precise interval, the monitoring system provides more accurate context awareness through synchronized data at any given time. This paper also discusses the data collected from nine young drivers performing a cognitive secondary task through this system while driving.
