The Performance Improvement of Cognitive Radio Technology Based on UWB System (UWB 기반의 인지적 무선통신 기술의 성능 개선)

  • Recently, ultra-wideband(UWB) technology based on the transmission of short duration pulses has gained much interest for its application to wireless communications. Various wireless communication and wireless broadcast will require more efficient use of frequency. Cognitive radio technology is an intelligent technology which can sense the spectrum environment and adaptively adjust the parameters for wireless transmission. In this paper, by using Cognitive UWB, the spectrum efficiency of the transmission channels is largely improved, and the interference between the other systems can be effectively avoided.

Selection Based Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio (무선인지시스템을 위한 선택적 협력 스펙트럼 검출 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an effective method for cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radios where cognitive user(CR) with the highest reliability sensing data is only selected and allowed to report its local decision to FC as only decision making node. The proposed scheme enables CR users to implicitly compare their sensing data reliabilities based on their likelihood ratio, without any collaboration among cognitive radio users. Due to the mechanism, the proposed cooperative scheme can achieves a high spectrum sensing performance while only requiring extremely low cooperation resources such as signaling overhead and cooperative time in comparison with other existing methods such as maximum ratio combination (MRC) based, equal gain combination (EGC) based and conventional hard combination based cooperative sensing methods.

  • CR technology is an intelligent technology which can sense the spectrum environment an adaptively adjust the parameters for wireless transmission. In this paper, by using CR-UWB, the spectrum efficiency of the transmission channel is largely improved; Furthermore, the interference to other system can be effectively avoided. In this paper, we propose a solution on interference problem of UWB system using cognitive radio. We use interference temperature model of cognitive radio that has proposed by FCC for estimating interference signal. Calculating channel capacity of UWB system with interference temperature, we suggest how to solve interference problem. We have used genetic algorithm in cognitive engine's calculation precess. The proposed UWB System with cognitive radio shows very efficient in solving interference problem.

  • Many efficient frequency sharing methods are issued in present because of increasing users with various wireless communication terminals. In the satellite communications, the service coverage is generally very wide so frequency sharing with terrestrial system is essentially needed, and the research is progressing dynamically related on this frequency sharing method. But if we adopt the terrestrial system which is commonly used, it can't avoid the interference from terrestrial service to satellite service. Therefore, this paper will introduce methods for reducing the interference from terrestrial station to earth station using cognitive radio system Satellite system is guaranteed with decreasing interference from terrestrial stations using Genetic Algorithm based power control method. Furthermore, terrestrial systems can have increased QoS because the frequency reuse factor in proposed method is higher than existing methods.

  • Cognitive Radio Ad-Hoc Networks (CRAHNs) enable to overcome the shortage of frequency resources due to the increase of radio services. In order to avoid interference with the primary user in CRANH, channel sensing to check the idle channel is required, and when the primary user appears, the time delay due to handover should be minimized through fast idle channel selection. In this paper, throughput was improved by reducing the number of channel sensing and preferentially sensing a channel with a high probability of being idle, using reinforcement learning. In addition, we proposed a multi-channel MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol that can minimize the possibility of collision with the primary user by sensing the channel at the time of data transmission without performing periodic sensing. The performance was compared and analyzed through computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a cognitive engine platform that enables dynamic spectrum access(DSA) based on a spectrum sharing system for the military tactical network environment. The current military tactical wireless communication system is increasing need to secure a supplementary wireless spectrum to ensure that multiple wireless networks for different weapon systems co-exist, so that tactical wireless communication between the same or different systems can be operated effectively. This paper examined policy development and research activities engaged by the U.S. and European countries on wireless spectrum sharing to secure more spectrum. It also introduces the current status of cognitive engine development, which is the core technology of tactical wireless communication for DSA. In addition, based on the investigation performed into the latest trends, we propose a platform structure for a cognitive engine based on a spectrum sharing method where more frequencies can be added for tactical radio communication, so that DSA can be realized, and wireless networks of different weapon systems can co-exist.

  • Wireless devices can communicate between each other without existing infrastructure in mobile Ad-hod network. Ad hoc networks can be used under difficult conditions, where it is difficult to construct infrastructures, such as shadowing areas, disaster areas, war area, and so on. In order to support to considerable and various wireless services, more spectrum resources are needed. However, efficient utilization of the frequency resource is difficult because of spectrum scarcity and the conventional frequency regulation. Ad-hoc networks employing cognitive radio (CR) system that guarantee high spectrum utilization provide effective way to increase the network capacity. In this paper, to improve detection performance of the energy detection which is widely used in CR based ad-hoc network, we propose multiple antenna system for CR based ad-hoc networks.

  • IMT2000이 발표된 후 신문지상을 비롯해 어론에서 수없이 많은 보도가 있고 아직도 정보통신업계의 최대 화두로 자리 잡고 있는 것이 바로 무선인터넷이다. 이에 무선인터넷에 대한 각 부문의 흐름을 각계 전문가를 통해 그 실체에 조금이나마 접근을 해보고자 한다. 차호 계속적인 보도가 있겠지만, 아직도 무선인터넷은 사업자 선정에서부터 난항을 격고 있으며 업계에서는 어떠한 방법으로든 초기에 시장 진입을 용이하기 위해 밤낮없이 뛰고 있는 것이 현실이고 일부에서는 어떠한 방법으로든 초기에 시장 진입을 용이하기 위해 밤낮없이 뛰고 있는 것이 현실이고 일부는 회사의 사활을 걸 만큼 큰 기대를 가지고 움직이기도 한다. 무선인터넷이 '금알을 낳는 거위'가 된다는 확신을 가지고 있는 것이 업계의 전반적인 시각이다. 그렇게 될것인지 안될것인지는 아직 증명이 되지 않았기 때문에 섣부른 판단을 내리기 어렵다. 따라서 업계의 움직임과 대응 방안 등에 관해 각계의 준비를 살펴보고자 한다.

  • We consider the design of opportunistic spectrum access schemes where secondary users can opportunistically access unused spectrum in non-slotted primary systems. Two non-slotted spectrum sensing and access schemes for secondary users are considered. We present experimental results that demonstrate the performance of the considered schemes.

  • 인지 무선(CR: Cognitive Radio) 시스템은 SDR(Software Defined Radio) 기술을 기반으로 주변 환경을 인지하여 가용한 주파수를 선정하고 통신하는 기본적인 기능과 여러 가지 환경 파라미터를 지속적으로 업데이트하는 학습 알고리즘이 합쳐진 기술이다. CR기술은 최근 무선 통신 서비스의 발전으로 주파수의 수요가 증가하면서 사용하지 않는 주파수 자원을 효율적으로 이용하기 위한 기술로써 각광받고 있다. CR시스템을 단말에 적용 및 구현하기 위해 선행되어야 하는 연구 분야는 크게 하드웨어 분야와 소프트웨어 분야로 나누어 생각할 수 있다. 하드웨어 분야에 관련된 연구는 다시 RF 처리부와 디지털 신호 프로세스부로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 CR 시스템을 단말에 적용하기 위해 필요한 선행 기술들을 살펴보고, 실제 단말에 적용 했을 때의 단말 형태에 대해 알아본다.
