  • In Brazil, racism exists without the clear definition of race. In other words, because there is racism without a clear concept of race, racial issues are complicated in Brazil. Racism is not just a social problem. It is, above all, a political problem that arises from economic separation, exclusion, and marginalization. From the enlargement process of European colonialism, racism has been the most profound and efficient way of governance of social, material, psychological and political domination of Brazil. From this perspective, this study seeks to research racism in Brazil as a race politics. In conclusion, racial discrimination and racial inequality exist in Brazil. Thus, to study the racial discrimination and racial inequalities in Brazil, Chapter 2 examines the origins of racial politics in Brazil. Chapter 3 explores the relations of Brazilian society and races. Chapter 4 examines Black's resistance to racism as a black movement in Brazil. The first half of Chapter 5 looks at 'racial inequality in Brazil' and the latter sees 'racism in Brazil'. Chapter 6, as a conclusion, discusses the challenges and limitations of racial politics in Brazil.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine racism in the movie ≪Green Book≫ and to find solutions to racism through discussion with students. Set in 1962 in the United States, this film depicts the process of forming a good bond with the black pianist Dr. Shirley and the driver Tony in a racist society. This study utilized the subject of race, one of the subjects covered in the humanities class in the global era of S University in the second semester of 2021. This is because, since the outbreak of racism, the problem of racism has continued to arise in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. Therefore, the researcher looked at racism and intercultural education as a theoretical background, and looked at cases of racism in movies and cases of racism that have occurred today. The history of racism and discrimination dates back to medieval Europe and was caused by religious conflicts and was attributed to white supremacy. As a solution to this racial discrimination, international organizations suggested intercultural education. And the reason why film was used in this study is because it aims to provoke students' interest and motivation for learning by targeting first-year university students called the digital native generation who were born and grew up with the Internet. In this study, students' solutions to racism were presented using discussion, and then the researcher's solutions were presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of work between Asian Americans and white Americans living with mental illness. Employment is important for recovery of Asian Americans with mental illness. However, little is known about reasons of low participation and completion rates on recovery and employment services for Asian Americans with mental illness. Although few studies have suggested that exploring cultural difference is a key to understand these issues, no study have explored how their culture influences a viewpoint on work. Therefore, a study to explore the meaning of work and influences of culture on work is required. This study used both quantitative and qualitative methods. An Internet version of world of work survey was developed based on results of study by Millner(2015) and cognitive interview. The survey was conducted from May to August 2015 and 91 people living with mental illness completed the survey. T-test was used for analyzing qualitative data and researchers analyzed qualitative data. Asian Americans showed higher preference for employment and have more difficulty at workplace and in receiving recovery and vocational services. The findings from this study can inform the development of recovery-oriented employment for people living with mental illness from diverse ethnic groups.

  • This study examined the perceptions of and attitude towards mixed-race and investigated the factors affecting them and their influence on discriminative behavior. For the study, a survey was conducted with residents residing in Seoul and its suburb. The results showed that the perceptions of and attitudes towards mixed-race, generally, were not so negative and positive in all three types of mixed-race, Caucasian-korean, Asian-korean, and African-korean. In addition, the perceptions of and attitudes toward mixed-race were partly different by the type of mixed race. That is, there were more positive perceptions of and more favorable attitudes towards the Caucasian-korean in Asian-korean and African-korean, and there were less positive perceptions of and less favorable attitudes towards Asian-korean than in African-korean. With regard to the factors affecting the perceptions and attitudes, racism was a factor affecting commonly the perception of and attitudes towards all types of mixed-race. The attitudes towards mixed-race had an influence on the discriminative behavior in all types of mixed-race, and, only in the African-korean, the perception of mixed race affected the discriminative behavior. These results suggest insights for what efforts should be made to improve mixed-race's welfare.

  • With the advent of multicultural society, many countries have come to the point of considering a fundamental revision or review of their previously established national identity and social constitution principles. This situation often generates conflicts and controversies between advocates of tradition and promotors of multiculturalism. In this article we will look at the case of France and Brazil and discuss how these two countries maintain, discard or fundamentally modify their traditional social integration model in the face of the multicultural challenges(racism, racial discrimination and integration/coexistence of immigrants of different cultural backgrounds), and examine the controversial aspects surrounding it. In particular, focusing our eyes on racial/ethnic statistics debates in both countries, we will try to compare the cases between that of adoption of multicultural alternative model(Brazil) and the case of rejection/retention(France) to find out some political meanings imbedded in those cases.
