The Comparison of Deinkability of Domestic, Japanese and Australian Old Newsprint (열화기간에 따른 국내 및 수입 신문고지의 탈묵성 비교)

  • In this paper, to investigate the deinkability of domestic and Australian old newsprint according to aging time, two types of newsprint printed with commercial offset ink in domestic(K; Korean newsprint, C; Canadian newsprint), Japanase(J) and Australian(A) old newsprint were aged naturally for 10, 30, 90, 180 days, and then yield, brightness, fiber length, and physical properties (tensile index, tear index, burst index) were evaluated according to aging time. As the aging time increased, the yield and brightness of respective samples decreased. The brightness and yield were decreased in the order of A, K, J and C. The brightness and strength of newsprint varied according to the ink formulation and kinds of pulp and wood. The decreasing order of strength is subsequently J, K, C and A.

한지의 처리공정에 따른 섬유와 한지의 물성 비교

  • 본 연구에서는 국산닥, 태국닥, 중국닥의 원료를 사용하여 펄핑, 표백, 고해, 초지, 건조의 방식을 변화시켜 총 3500 여장에 이르는 한지를 한지제조 전문가가 일정한 방법에 따라 제 조하였고 그 특정들을 조직적으로 검토하였다. 이러한 연구는 한지의 물성이 닥섬유의 처 리공정에 의해 어떻게 영향을 받는지 연구를 통계적으로 가능하게 하였다. 본 연구에서는 육재펄핑과 일광표백의 효과, 외발뜨기와 쌍발뜨기의 효과, 고해방식의 차이, 먹퍼집성에 대 해 결과들을 보이 고 있다. 육재 펄핑과 일광표백이 한지의 물성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기로 하였다. 현 재는 많은 한지 업자들이 육재펄핑보다는 가성소다 펄핑 (그림에서는 약품펄핑으로 표기), 일광표백보다는 차아염소산 나트륨 (그림에서는 약품표백으로 표기)을 사용하는 것이 보통 이다. 육재펄핑과 일광표백을 실시한 한지는 열단장, 인열강도, 내절도를 약품펄핑이나 약 품표백보다 높이는 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 약품을 사용하는 경우 리그닌의 용출이 더 수윌하므로 백색도는 약품을 사용하는 경우가 더 유리하였다. 국산닥의 경우 육 재펄핑과 일광표백을 한 경우 먹퍼짐성이 약품사용 한지보다 크지 않음을 볼 수 있었다. 한국의 전통적인 외발뜨기 초지방식은 일본의 쌍발뜨기 방식에 비해 많은 물리적 우수성 을 보이고 있다. 외발뜨기가 쌍발뜨기에 비해 열단장, 신장율, 인열지수 및 내절도 모두가 우수함을 잘 보이고 있다. 섬유의 성질과 관련하여 전체적으로 조명해 보면, 열단장, 인열 지수는 국산닥이 가장 높으며, 내절도는 태국닥이 우수하였고, 중국닥의 경우 모두 매우 불 량함을 알 수 있다. 이것은 아마도 처리중에 과도한 표백을 실시하지 아니하였는가 하는 의구심을 들게한다. 열단장과 신장율 역시 국산닥이 우수하였다. 글씨를 쓸 때, 붓이 나가 는 정도를 마찰게수로 짐작해 보았다. 동 마찰계수와 정 마찰계수는 국산닥이 낮은 편이였 다. 마찰계수가 낮다는 사실은 한지의 표면이 더 매끄럽다고 표현될 수 있는데, 역시 국산닥 으로 제조한 한지가 붓이 나가는데 유리하지 않을까 하는 추측을 할 수 있다. 본 실험결과 는 한지 사용자들의 느낌과 상관관계를 얻어내어서 확인해야 할 것이다. 닥방망이로의 고해나 칼비터에 의한 고해나 큰 물성적으로 큰 차이를 보이지는 않고 있 었다. 단지 섬유의 차이가 고해방식의 차이보다 월등히 크다는 사실을 보이고 있다 이러한 점은 섬유장의 길이에서도 볼 수 있다. 칼비터가 섬유를 절단하기만 하고 닥방망이 고해가 섬유장의 변화를 일으키지 않는다면 틀림없이 평균 섬유장의 차이가 생길것이다.

Strength Restoration of The DP Finished Cotton Fabric by Enzymatic Treatment (수지 가공 면직물의 강도 회복을 위한 효소처리 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is restoration for tearing strength of the durable press (DP) finished 100% cotton fabric by enzymatic treatment. Dimethylol Dihydroxy Ethylene Urea (DMDHEU) was used as a DP finish chemical. Enzymes (cellulase, pectinase, protease, lipolase) were selected based on their specific reaction activities. Ideal application of the enzymes for this work was to remove cross-links created by DMDHEU on the surface of the fibers to offer migration property between microstructures of cellulose, yet cross-links that exist inside of the fibers are still remained to impart effect of wrinkle resistance. Physical characteristics (tearing strength, wrinkle recovery, FT-IR) of enzyme treated samples were measured and compared. It was found out that, in case of enzyme treatment, most of enzymes didn't have a great effect on tearing strength, but, in case of Protease, tearing strength increased at DMDHEU 2% treatment. As a result of an experiment on wrinkle recovery of the textiles treated with enzyme making density of DMDHEU different whenever respective experiment was made, it was discovered that density of DMDHEU increased as wrinkle recovery increased and, in the relation to enzyme treatment especially in Lipase enzyme treatment, the lesser density of DMDHEU, the more wrinkle recovery increased.

  • Effect of chlorinated polyethylene(cPE) on the morphology and mechanical properties of isotactic polypropylene(iPP) and nitrile rubber(NBR) blends was investigated. It was found that incorporation of a small amounts of cPE leads to a decrease in domain size of the dispersed phase, and uniform distribution of the dispersed phase in the blends. The PP/NBR/cPE ternary blends showed an improved tensile and tear strength as well as elongation-at-break as compared to binary PP/NBR blends. From the results on morphology and mechanical properties, optimum amount of the cPE is 5-10 wt% with repect to NBR in the blend.

  • Compounding, using such thermoplastic elastomer as styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene (SEBS) blended with polypropylene(PP), oil, and other ingredients, was studied to develop a new material with excellent impact resistance and resilience for the replacement of environmentally toxic PVC sheet. Hardness decreased linearly with oil content in the SEBS/oil blend, and the tensile strength increased with PP content whereas elongation showed no effects over 50 phr of PP in SEBS/oil/PP blend. In the practical SEBS composition, proposed to replace the PVC sheet material, tensile and tear strength, as well as hardness, increased proportionally with PP content, while melt index decreased.

  • It was intended to evaluate whether the primer affects the physical performance of the waterproofing membrane coating. For this end, the physical performance change of the urethane waterproofing membrane coating was evaluated for urethane-based and polymer-based primers. As a result of the evaluation, it was confirmed that the type of primer may affect the physical performance of the waterproofing membrane coating. In particular, a difference in performance of more than 100% was confirmed in tensile strength and percentage elongation. Through these results, it was confirmed that the selection of the primer was important. In the future, follow-up studies on various waterproofing membrane coatings are needed.

  • 신발 및 피혁 제품의 분쇄는 섬유의 길이와 물리적인 특성을 고려하여 3${\sim}$4mm 정도의 섬유 길이로 절단되는 Niagara beater가 우수하였고, 섬유간 접착력을 부여하는 Binder 물질로는 NR latex와 EVA emulsion이 인장, 인열강도가 우수하여 NR latex와 EVA emulsion이 7:3의 비율로 혼합하여 사용하는 것이 가장 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 코팅 처리된 신발 재단 폐기물의 경우 Niagara beater에 Alcalase를 투입하는 것이 분쇄시간의 단축에 유리한 경향을 나타내었고, 건조 공정은 90$^{\circ}C$이하로 유지하는 것이 $^{\triangle}$E값의 변화가 거의 없었고 100$^{\circ}C$에서는 $^{\triangle}$E값이 7.55를 나타내어 황변이 발생하였다.

  • The fracture toughness and crack propagation behaviors of short nylon66 fiber reinforced Chloroprene rubber nave been Investigated as functions of fiber aspect ratio, fiber content and interphase conditions. The J for crack initiation and rupture were determined for short-fiber reinforced rubber. The values of $J_c$ for most reinforced rubbers were low compared that of matrix. But, $J_r$ at rupture showed a higher value than that of matrix. The crack propagation behaviors were analyzed into 3 patterns with increasing fiber aspect ratio and fiber content. The tearing mechanisms of matrix and fiber reinforced rubber were observed by CCD camera focused on the tip of crack and load-displacement graph. Both cases showed a completely different behaviors

  • (2, 3-Dibromopropyl) phenyl phosphate[DPP] was synthesized from 2, 3-dibromopropyl alcohol and chlorophenyl phosphate. Also, (2, 3,-dibromopropyl)phenyl octadecyl phosphate[DPOP] was synthesized from DPP and n-octadecyl chloride. Flame retardants, DPPF and DPOPF, were prepared by blending DPP and DPOP with emulsifier, respectively. The flame retardants prepared were o/w(oil in water) type emulsion flame retardants. As a result of treatments of the flame retardants on various synthetic textiles, DPPF showed only good flame retardancy, but DPOPF showed both good flame retardancy and good softness.

A Study on Shoes for Culinarian Use in the Kitchen Environment (조리 환경에 적합한 기능성 신발(조리화)에 관한 연구)

  • According to Lee In-ja's research into the cooks of Korea, there are more than 1.2 million culinary professionals in Korea. However, it is hard to find studies on their work environment. From this point, this study aims to examine the shoes worn by culinarians in their workplace and facilitate the improved environment to protect culinary professionals against potential dangers such as slips, occupational and industrial injuries and fatigue, on the basis of the shoes they wear. The research was conducted on a representative cross section of safety shoes currently worn by culinary professionals. The four factors to be tested and measured for the study were weight, slip resistance, internal tearing strength and splitting resistance. Findings on inquiry showed that the shoes tested were quite heavy, slippery and readily liable to splitting under low stress - when compared to standardized base figures. In accordance with the results of this experiment, guidelines for four factors of manufacture were suggested. First, chef's shoes should weigh not more than 1% of a wearers weight. Second, they should exhibit more than 0.50 $\mu$ slip resistance. Third, they should withstand at least 50.0 N/mm tearing strength. And finally, they should have upwards of 3.0 kg/cm splitting resistance.
