  • The safety accident of construction industries occur variously in other industries, including other industries, resulting in significant losses of human and material losses. In particular, General worker represents the highest safety accident rate each year, and the various types of accidents are the ones that show the greatest interest in the field, which is the most interesting job in the field. This study aims to identify trends in safety hazards and to analyze the accident severity for major types and influence factors.

A Study on the Assessment of Standard Wage System for Forestry Workers in Korea (임업기능인 임금조사를 통한 직종별 기준임금 산정에 관한 연구)

  • Working in the forest would require a wide range of skills and experience for specific tasks which involve with a high level of risks to worker's safety. However, there has been a concern on the current standard wage system for forest workers because it does not effectively reflect the characteristics of typical working conditions in the forest. In addition, the current standard wages for forestry workers was estimated based on the construction industry's wage system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to assess a current wage system through the mail survey method and to develop a new wage system for forest worker which effectively reflects skill sets and experience required for successful completion of the work in the forest. We mailed the survey questionnaire consisting of 19 questions to 659 forest workers and received 188 responses resulting in a 28.5% response rate. The results showed that the current average optimal wages of forest worker, special worker and feller were 97,680won/day, 127,559won/day and 152,403won/day, respectively though there were variations depending on the regions. In developing the new standard wage system, this study suggest the current work types(worker, special worker and feller) could be divided into 5 work types (forest-environment workers, forest operations in beginner, forest operations in intermediate, forest operations in advanced and forest equipment operator) reflecting specialty of forest operation thereby stabilizing the new wage system for forest workers.

Long-term Variations of Trophic State and Phosphorus Loading in Lake Andong, Korea (안동호의 장기간의 영양상태와 인부하량)

  • The variation of trophic state was measured in a reservoir (Lake Andong, Korea) from 1993 to 2000. Phosphorus loading from the watershed was estimated by measuring total phosphorus concentration in the main inflowing stream (the Nakdong River). Phosphorus discharge from the pen-type fish farms was estimated from the amount of fish feed and the rate of phosphorus excretion per feed weight. The transparency in summer was about 2.0 m in 1993 and 1994, but it decreased to about 1.2 m in 1997 and 1998, and recovered to about 2.3 m in 1999 and 2000. TP increased from $11-30\;mgP/m^3$ in 1993 to $18-42\;mgP/m^3$ in 1998, but recovered to $8-13\;mgP/m^3$ in 2000, whereas TN decreased slightly from 1.81-2.96 mgN/L in 1993 to 1.17-1.80 mgN/L in 2000. TN/TP ratios decreased from 82-281 in 1993 to 21-143 in 1998, but again increased to 101-209 in 2000 due to the decrease of TP. The average chlorophyll-a concentration in growing season was in the range of $4.8-16.2\;mg/m^3$ from 1993 to 1997, but it decreased to $3.7-5.2\;mg/m^3$ after 1998. Trophic State Index had shown a gradual increase until 1996, and since then it has declined. The major cause of the trophic state recovery is thought to be the removal of fish farms in April 1998.

An Analysis on the Accident Influence Factor and Severity of Construction General Workers (건설 보통인부의 안전재해 영향요인 및 재해강도 분석)

  • General workers who assist various technicians in different fields with their work across the whole construction sites without having a particular skill are at risk of the highest accident rate and their accident form becomes varied. Accordingly, this study was conducted to identify the relationship between form of safety accident and influence factor in general workers and analyze accident severity by influence factor. The followings are the results from this study. First, as a result of analyzing major form of accident and influence factors in general workers with network analysis methodology, nine forms of accident and seventeen influence factors were drawn. Second, it was found that in accident severity among general workers, collapsing, among various forms of accident, appeared the highest, followed by fall, electric shock, fire, hit by an object, bumped against, trip, scission getting cut chopped in order. Third, main points of special, concentrated, and permanent management were presented in order to reduce the safety accident in general workers effectively.

  • 프레임에 그물감을 부착하여 구성되어 있는 가두리 시설은 대부분 수면에 반잠수 상태로 부유되어 계류되어 있기 때문에 파랑이 작용하면 운동을 하게 되며, 특히 파도가 높은 해역에서는 파에 의해 구조물이 연직 방향으로 크게 운동을 하여 어류에 나쁜 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 해상 작업을 하는 인부에게도 매우 위험하다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 파랑에 의한 운동이 최소화되도록 구조물을 설계해야 한다. (중략)
