The Pattern and Determinants of Demographic Transition in African Countries (아프리카의 인구변천 유형과 특성)

  • Over the past four decades reproductive behavior has changed slowly in much of the African countries. The average total fertility rate has fallen from six or more to near five today. Between 1960 and 2000 the largest fertility decline occurred in such Northern African countries as Algeria, Libya, and Morocco. The mortality rate has decreased in most African countries. The purpose of this study is to review the pattern of demographic transition in African countries. At first, this study focuses on the fertility transition. In Africa, the total fertility rate has decreased from 6.59 to 4.85 between 1960 and 2000. The mortality rate has also decreased in most of African countries. It is also interesting to find that there is a clear difference among African countries. In terms of infant mortality rate, Libya shows the lowest rate(17), while Mali and Somalia remain still high rate(142 and 133, respectively). This study tests a path model in which infant mortality rate acts as an intermediate variable between three socioeconomic variables and the fertility rate. The findings of this paper substantiate some of our hypotheses on the interrelationships among socioeconomic variables, infant mortality rate, and fertility rate. The result also shows the indirect effects of socioeconomic variables on fertility rate via infant mortality.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 (1) 가정에서의 소비행동을 자원활용적 측면에서 탐색해 봄으로써 소비의 사용/처분 효율성 개념을 제품군 별로 명료화 하고 (2) 사용/처분 효율성과 인구통 계적 특성 환경보전에 대한 태도와의 차이를 실증하기 위한 것이다 연구대상은 서울시에 거 주하는 주부 400명이며 최종분석에 사용된 자료수는 357부이다 연구에 따르면 사용/처분 효 율성 개념은 상품군(식품, 의류 가전제품) 에 따라 다르게 규정지어야만 함을 알 수 있었다 또한 사용/처분 효율성과 몇몇 인구통계적 변수와는 관련이 있음을 보여주었고 환경보전 태 도는 사용효율성과 정적 관계를 보여주었으나 처분효율성과는 일과성 있는 관계를 보여주지 는 못했다 이러한 연구결과는 소비자 교육 및 재활용정책에 적극 활용할 수 있으리라고 본다.

  • 본 연구는 서울시의 우울증 진단 경험률 통계 데이터를 분석하여 지역별 우울증 발생 패턴과 인구 통계적 특성을 파악하고자 하였습니다. 결측치 처리와 이상치 조정을 통한 데이터 전처리 후, 연령대와 성별, 교육 수준 등 다양한 변수에 따른 우울증 진단률의 분포를 탐색적 데이터 분석을 통해 시각화하였습니다. 특히 여성과 고령 인구에서 높은 우울증 경험률을 관찰하였으며, 이를 통해 맞춤형 정신건강 개선 방안을 제시하고자 하였습니다. 본 연구는 정책 입안자와 보건 전문가들에게 유용한 인사이트를 제공하고, 효과적인 우울증 관리 및 예방 전략 개발에 조금이라도 기여할 것으로 기대됩니다.

아파트선택가구의 사회$\cdot$경제 및 주거특성에 관한 연구

  • 본 논문은 통계적 기법을 사용하여 이주시 아파트를 주택유형으로 선택하는 입주자의 사회$\cdot$경제적 특성을 실증적으로 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 아파트를 선택하는 주민의 인구사회적, 경제적 특성을 분석하는 한편 주거상태와 향후 희망하는 주거상태가 아파트 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인가를 로짓모형을 통해 밝히는데 목적을 두고 있다. 부산시의 주민 2000가구의 설문조사결과를 통해 향후 아파트로 이주하고자 희망하는 주민의 특성 및 현 주거와 향후 주거선호와 관련된 사항을 분석한다. 연구결과 가구의 아파트를 선택하는데 있어서 그 가구의 현주거상태와 희망하는 주거수준, 그리고 가구의 사회$\cdot$경제적 특성이 작용하는데 현주택상황과 관련하여서는 현 주택규모가 클수록 아파트를 선택하는 경향이 있으며, 희망하는 주거수준과 관련해서는 희망하는 주택의 방수가 적을수록 아파트를 선택하는 것으로 분석되었다. 가구의 사회$\cdot$경제적 특성 중에서는 배우자의 학력이 높을수록 아파트를 선택하는 경향이 높게 나타났으며, 이 변수는 어떠한 독립변수보다 아파트 선택에 강하게 작용하는 경향이 높게 나타났으며, 이 변수는 어떠한 독립변수보다 아파트 선택에 강하게 작용한다. 이밖에 가구의 월평균소득과 월평균 저축도 아파트를 선택하는데 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다.

Geographically Weighted Regression on the Characteristics of Land Use and Spatial Patterns of Floating Population in Seoul City (서울시 유동인구 분포의 공간 패턴과 토지이용 특성에 관한 지리가중 회귀분석)

  • The key objective of this research is to review the effectiveness of spatial regression to identify the influencing factors of spatial distribution patterns of floating population. To this end, global and local spatial autocorrelation test were performed using seoul floating population survey(2014) data. The result of Moran's I and Getis-Ord $Gi^*$ as used in the analysis derived spatial heterogeneity and spatial similarities of floating population patterns in a statistically significant range. Accordingly, Geographically Weighted Regression was applied to identify the relationship between land use attributes and population floating. Urbanization area, green tract of land of micro land cover data were aggregated in to $400m{\times}400m$ grid boundary of Seoul. Additionally public transportation variables such as intersection density transit accessibility, road density and pedestrian passage density were adopted as transit environmental factors. As a result, the GWR model derived more improved results than Ordinary Least Square(OLS) regression model. Furthermore, the spatial variation of applied local effect of independent variables for the floating population distributions.

Blackconsumer Tendency upon Demographic Characteristics and the Effect of Blackconsumer Tendency on Retaliation Intention and Self-justification (인구통계적 특성에 따른 블랙컨슈머 성향과 성향이 보복의도와 자기정당성에 미치는 영향)

  • Due to misbehavior of blackconsumer, companies bear higher financial burden and innocent consumers are also damaged. This study identified the characteristics of blackconsumer and their differences by demographics. Also this study scrutinizes the effects of blackconsumer characteristics on retaliation intention and self-justification. The analyses results identified three factors composing blackconsumer, namely deliberation, recidivism and persistency. Ages of 50s and 40s showed higher in persistency and 40s and 30s are higher in recidivism. Also the results showed that deliberation has a significant influence on self-justification where as recidivism and persistency have on both retaliation intention and self-justification.

  • Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea and over 30 million in Japan in 2005. The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network, pushing online games into the mainstream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering Japan, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from investigating the difference, among the types of players, in demographic and social trends, perceptions related to game-design factors, and attitude toward the games. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the differences between hardcore and casual players have been analyzed, and interesting conclusions have been provided concerning the online-game design and development strategies for Japan online-game players.

The Effects of Clothing Consumption Value and Demographic Features on Clothing Disposal Behaviors (의복소비가치와 인구통계적 특성에 따른 의복처분행동)

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between consumers’ clothing consumption values, demographic features, and clothing disposal behaviors. The data were collected from 300 women aged between 20 and 59 through the online survey with the self-administered questionnaire. A series of exploratory and confirmative factor analysis was conducted to identify the dimensions of clothing consumption values and clothing disposition behaviors. Clothing consumption values consisted of six dimensions including conditional value, individuality value, fashion value, social value, practical value, and self-expression value. Clothing disposition behaviors were discovered as four dimensions such as discarding, giving, selling, and donating. A structural equation modeling analysis was employed to examine the relationship between clothing consumption values and disposition behaviors. While individuality value, fashion value, and practical value had a significantly positive impact on donating, giving, and discarding behaviors, both practical value and self-expression value negatively influenced discarding behavior. Fashion value negatively affected giving behavior. Employing a series of MANOVA, one-way ANOVA and sheffe's multiple range test, this study found that there were significant effects of age, marital status, monthly income, and monthly clothing expenses on giving and donating behaviors. This study suggests that fashion firms should be aware of clothing disposition in terms of social and environmental concerns and understand diverse consumer disposal behaviors and utilize them as a social marketing strategy.

A Study on Market Segmentation of Home Meal Replacement Consumers (가정식사대용식(Home Meal Replacement) 소비자의 시장세분화에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of the study were (1) to identify the market segments of home meal replacement(HMR) consumers based on purchasing selection attributes and (2) to investigate demographic characteristics and purchasing behaviors unique to each segmented market. A total of 266 responses were used for data analysis using SPSS 19.0. Data analyses included frequency analysis, chi-square analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, MANOVA, and discriminant analysis. The result of the factor analysis showed four important dimensions in selection attributes: food quality, design, convenience, and accessibility. The results of the cluster analysis identified two HMR market segments, namely, highly involved HMR consumers and lowly involved HMR consumers. Highly involved HMR consumers considered all the selection dimensions more important than lowly involved HMR consumers. In addition, these two groups showed different demographic characteristics and purchasing behaviors. Managerial implications were provided.

The Relationship between Preferred Hairstyle and Pursued-Image of Hairstyle according to Demographic Characteristics: Focusing on Hair Salon Visitors (인구통계적 특성에 따른 선호 헤어스타일 및 헤어추구이미지와의 관계: 미용실 방문객을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the difference between preferred hairstyle and pursued-image of hairstyle according to demographic characteristics. The method of this study is a content analysis and survey research using a questionnaire, which consisted of items of pursued-image of hairstyle, preferred hairstyle and demographic characteristics. 450 women were selected as subjects of this study; they were randomly selected from hair salon located in Seoul, Inchon and Bundang. For the material analysis, We used the statistical program of SPSS 12.0; frequencies, factor nalysis, one-way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, T Test and ${\chi}^2$ Test were carried out as the methods of analysis. The research findings were as follows. First, the results of hairstyles according to the content analysis usually resulted 5 hairstyles, such as cuts and crew cut, bobbed hair, long layered hair styles and nonelayered long hair styles. Second, under the survey regarding the difference of preferred hairstyle and pursued-image of hairstyle according to demographic characteristics. variety of hair styles due to the subjects were more willing to try a consciousness about other's suggestions and how they are portrayed. Moreover a low level of education was ralated to a attempting a variety of styles, considering their social life. Subjects with higher age, education level and salary preferred a glamorous image as well as crew cuts. Which made them look younger. However, when they were younger, they preferred long nonelayered hair styles. In conclusion, age, average monthly income and education level are important variations affecting the property of change in hairstyles and pursued-image of hairstyles.
