Effects of Substrate Type, Soil Depth, and Drainage Type on the Growth of Sedum kamtschaticum in Extensive Green Roof Systems (저토심 옥상녹화 시스템에서 기린초의 생육에 대한 인공배지 종류, 토심, 그리고 배수 형태의 효과)

  • 본 연구는 기존 건축물 옥상녹화에 이용 가능한 저토심 옥상녹화 시스템 을 연구하고 개발하고자 수행되었다. 연구목적을 달성하기위해서 시스템의 개념적 모델이 선행 연구로부터 유추되었고 개념적 모델로부터 실험을 위한 시스템들이 제안되었다. 건축물 옥상 위에 설치된 이 시스템들에서 기린초의 생육에 대하여 인공배지 종류, 토심, 그리고 배수 형태의 효과들이 2002년 4월 3일부터 10월 18일까지 연구되었다. 인공배지 종류는 단용과 혼용이고, 토심은 5cm, l0cm,그리고 15cm이며, 배수 형태는 저수$.$배수형과 배수형으로 하였다. 여기서, 인공배지 단용은 폐유리 미분 100에 발포제를 1∼2정도 첨가하고, 착색제를 1정도 첨가한 후, 6∼8$^{\circ}C$/min로 승온하여 750∼85$0^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 발포시킨 다공질 유리를 수냉식으로 급랭하고, 분쇄기로 이송하여 l0mm이하로 분쇄하고 입도를 조절하여 얻어진 다공질 유리 파쇄물과 수피를 부피 비 6:4로 혼합하여 조성된 것이며 인공배지 혼용은 인공배 지 단용에 양토(모래 46%, 미사 40%, 점토 14%)를 부피비 5:5로 혼합하여 조성된 것이다. 피복면적, 지상부와 지하부의 생체중과 건물중, 그리고 시각적 질을 조사하였다. 각 변수들은 던칸의 다중범위 검정으로 통계처리 하였으며 처리들간의 유의수준은 5%였다. 그리고 기존 건축물 옥상에 대한 과부하의 위험을 피하기 위해서 각 시스템의 중량이 평가되었다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 실험기간 중에 피복면적에 대한 배수 형태의 효과는 유의성 있는 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 인공배지 혼용의 피복면적은 인공배지 단용의 것보다 통계적으로 유의성 있게 높았다. 토심 5cm처리의 피복면적은 나머지 처리들의 피복면적보다 통계적으로 유의성 있게 낮았다. 토심 l0cm처리와 토심 15cm처리는 통계적으로 유의성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 지상부와 뿌리의 생체중 및 건물중과 시각적 질에 대한 처리들의 효과는 피복면적에 대한 것과 유사하거나 동일하였다. 결과적으로, 기린초의 생육은 인공배지 단용보다 인공배지 혼용에서 더 높았고, 토심 10∼15cm에서 더 높았으며, 배수 형태에서는 뚜렷한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 이 결과를 토대로, 기존 건축물 옥상에 적용 가능한 시스템의 허용하중과 기린초의 생육을 동시에 고려해볼 때, 저토심 옥상녹화 시스템 은 인공배지 종류에서는 혼용이, 토심은 10cm, 그리고 배수형태는 배수형이 적합하다고 보았다. 제안된 조건으로 조성된 시스템은 인공배지가 포장용수량상태일 때 그 중량이 약 115kg/$m^2$정도로 나타났다.

Study on the Growth of Soybean and Corn in Artificial Media (인공배지를 이용한 옥수수와 콩의 생육시험 연구)

  • For the recycling of sludge as soil conditioner, the firing technology in pottery industry was applied to the sludge treatment, and produced artificial media with many voids. To produce artificial media using sludge, chabazite and lime were used as additives, and the mixture of sludge and additives was thermally treated in the firing kiln at about $800{\sim}1,100^{\circ}C$ for about ten minutes. The effect of mixed artificial media into upland soil was investigated through the crop growth experiment and the physical & chemical characteristics of the mixed soils were analysed. The pH of artificial media was higher than that of the control soils. After the plant growth experiment, artificial media plots almost contained more CEC, OM, TN, TP and $AV.P_2O_5$ than upland soil plots. From the growth analysis, growth of soybean and corn in the artificial media plots was better than that in the original upland soil plots. The yield of soybean and corn in the artificial media plots were about 46kg/10a, 194kg/10a, respectively, which is higher than that in the control. Heavy metals in the artificial media plots were lower than the standard regulation. Therefore, the artificial media produced from sludge can be mixed into farmland, and crop production can be increased additionally.

  • Botryosphaeria dothidea causing apple fruit rot was cultured in pectin-polypectate mine­raI salts or apple mediumss, to investigate pectolytic enzyme production and activity. Exo-polygalactu­ronase(PG) and exo-polymethylgalacturonase (PMG) in apple medium showed maximum of activity to 6.4 and 7.2 units at six days of culture, respectively. Their maximum activity in pectin-polypectate mineral salts medium was 5.9 and 5.3 units at eight days of culture lower than in apple medium respectively. Endo-PG and endo-PMG in pecin-polypectate mineral salts medium were maximum of activity to 4.4 and 16.2 units at six and eight days of culture, respectively, but activities in apple medium were 3.2 and 6.7 units at eight days of culture. Activity of polygalacturonate-trans-­eliminase(PGTE) and pectinmethyl-trans-eliminase(PMTE) was higher in pectin-polypectate mineral salts medium than in apple medium. Fungal growth was maximum at six and eight days of culture in pectin-polypectate mineral salts and apple medium, respectively.

  • 농업ㆍ원예분야에서 다공질 재료를 인공배지로 이용하기 위하여는 수분관리의 용이성, 우수한 양분의 유지, 통기성 및 보수성이 요구된다. 이들 성질을 만족시키는 재료로는 점토, 벤토나이트, 질석(vermicutite), 펄라이트(perlite) 및 락-울(rock-wool) 등이 이용된다. 인공배지 재료로 널리 사용되는 펄라이트와 락-울의 원료는 중국 및 호주 등지로부터 수입에 의존하고 있어 양액재배 농가에 커다란 부담이 되며 건습조절이 곤란하여 배지 내 수분함량의 조절이 용이하고 양액사용이 간편한 배지 및 폐기처리시 환경문제를 야기하지 않는 반영구적이며 자연친화형의 배지의 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있다. Physicochemical Properties of Newly Developed Artificial Medium and Proper Irrigation Interval for Production of Tomato Plug Seedlings (토마토 플러그 묘 생산을 위한 신개발 인공배지의 이화학적 특성과 적정 관수 간격)

  • This study was conducted to compare the physicochemical properties of newly developed artificial medium and conventional plug medium and to investigate the proper irrigation interval to produce the high quality tomato seedlings. The five existing artificial media (organic medium coir, mixed medium Tosilee and Q plug, and inorganic medium LC and rockwool) and four newly developed artificial medium (mixed medium TP-S1 and inorganic medium PU 14-S1, PU-7B, and PU 15-S1) were used to grow tomato 'Yegwang' with irrigation interval of one-day (14 times), two-day (7 times), and three-day (5 times) for 14 days. The pH was the significantly highest in the PU 15-S1. All growing medium measured were in the range of pH 5.17-6.90. EC was the highest in the Q plug. The initial germination rate was the highest in the PU 15-S1. The final germination rate and mean daily germination were not significantly different in all growing medium except for the PU 14-S1. Growth of tomato seedlings at 15 days after sowing was the greatest in the Q plug. At 29 days after sowing, seedlings were also the greatest in the Q plug, followed by rockwool and PU-7B. Also, growth was better in the one-day interval treatment. As a result, we confirmed the applicability of the artificial medium to tomato plug seedlings in this experiment, and seedlings were the greatest in the Q plug. Therefor, it is considered that adding nutrients to the artificial medium of the newly developed medium PU-7B, and applying the irrigation one-day interval can produces high quality tomato seedlings similar to using Q plug.

애기장대에 처리한 인공 황산비와 질산비가 식물생장에 미치는 영향

  • 애기장대를 실험재료로 사용하여 인공산성비의 주요 성분인 황산과 질산 중 어느 성분이 식물 생장과 종자 발아에 영향을 미치는가를 조사하였다. 질산과 황산성분이 모두 첨가된 인공산성비를 처리한 애기장대는 정상식물에 비하여 줄기와 뿌리 생장이 각각 28%, 30% 정도 감소되었고, 잎 표면에는 많은 괴사반점이 관찰되었다. 인공질산비를 처리한 식물은 정상식물에 비하여 줄기와 뿌리 생장이 각각 14%, 17% 정도 감소된 반면 인공황산비를 처리한 식물은 각각 24%, 25% 정도 감소되었다. 종자의 발아율은 인공산성비 배지에서는 80%, 인공황산비 배지에서는 88%, 인공질산비 배지에서는 93%로 나타났다. 이와 같이 성분이 다른 3 종류의 인공산성비를 애기장대에 처리하였을 때 식물 생장과 종자발아율은 질산보다 황산성분에 의해서 더 큰 영향을 받는 것을 확인하였다.

Germination of Artificial Seeds by Encapsulation of Somatic Embryos of Kalopanax septemlobus with Alginic Acid (음나무 (Kalopanax septemlobus) 체세포배를 이용한 인공종자 조제 및 발아)

  • Artificial seeds were produced by encapsulation of somatic embryos of Kalopanax septemlobus and investigated the effects of alginic acid concentration, size of somatic embryos, additives in capsules and nursery seedbeds for germination. The most suitable concentration of alginic acid was 3% for germination of encapsulated seeds. Germination was suppressed at higher concentration more than 3% alginic acid. For germination of artificial seeds, 1/2 MS medium with 0.02% activated charcoal was effective. There was no significant differences on the germination among the different size of somatic embryos. Additives in hydrated capsule was very important for germination and post-germinative growth of artificial seeds. Germination was severly inhibited in hydrated capsule containing only distilled water. Both sucrose and MS medium addition in hydrate capsule was effective for germination of artificial seeds. When artificial seeds were transferred to soilbed, germination rate was high in perlite containing 3% sucrose but very low in perlite with only water. These results indicate that nursery additives in both hydrate capsules and soilbeds was important for germination of artificial seeds in Kalopanax septemlobus.

Development of Hydroponic Media Using Fly Ash and Clay System Cultures (양액재배용 석탄회-점토계 배지 개발)

  • In order to investigate the physical and chemical properties of artificial culture media, the specimens were substituted with 5~20% clay, 10~30%(w) quick lime, 5~l5%(w) burnt plaster and 10%(w) sawdust. Fly ash-clay bodies were sintered at 1,050~1,20$0^{\circ}C$ and then their properties were determined. It was found that 90FA10JC(fly ash +clay(90:10, %(w)) specimen sintered at 1,15$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. had good physical and chemical properties. When this composition was supplement with 10%(w) sawdust, bulk density water absorption, apparent porosity, compressive strength and pH after 240 hrs curing time were 1.14, 54.4%, 39.5%, 54 kgf.cm$^{-2}$ and 7.1 respectively. The physical properties of fly ash-quick lime-burnt plaster system specimens were superior to FAJC systems. However, this composition we not suitable as a artificial culture media because of its high pH. In this study, it was shown that 90FA10JC10SD(90FA10JC +10%(w) sawdust) system exhibited the best physical properties.

Effect of Substrates on the Growth and Flowering of Freesia hybrid 'Gold Rich' in Nutrient Culture (프리지아(Freesia hybrida) '골드리치'의 양액재배 시 인공배지별 생육 및 개화특성)

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of various growth substrates on the growth and flowering of hydroponically grown Freesia hybrid 'Gold Rich'. Perlite, peat moss and a perlite: peat moss mixture (1 : 1 ratio, v / v) were used as the growing media. The greatest plant height before flower bud differentiation was attained using mixed medium compared to the others. The type of medium used did not influence leaf number, mineral content or SPAD value in leaves. Flowering began at 137 days after planting in mixed medium, which was 13 days earlier than in perlite medium. The whole plant fresh weight was 21.3 g heavier in mixed medium than in perlite medium (40.9 g). A similar result was obtained for shoot length, with the highest value (96.6 cm) obtained in mixed medium, i.e., 20 cm higher than in perlite medium (76.6 cm). Floret number per plant was also the highest in mixed medium (14.4), i.e., 1.7 - times higher than in perlite medium. Therefore, among the substrates tested in this experiment, we recommend using mixed perlite: peat moss medium (1 : 1 ratio, v / v) for hydroponic culture of freesia, as the use of this medium improved the physical properties of the plants, producing the best results in terms of plant growth and cut-flower quality.

Use of Pellet or Cube-type Phenolic Foam as an Artificial Medium for Production of Tomato Plug Seedlings (토마토 플러그 묘 생산을 위한 펠릿 및 큐브형 phenolic foam 인공배지의 이용)

  • Growers in plug seedling production think that root media in which rockwool is a component has given rise to several environmental problems. Therefore, the demand for new materials as a substitute for rockwool has been increased. This study examined the possibility of cultivation of tomato plug seedlings using a newly developed growing medium with phenolic foam. Plug seeds of tomato cultivar 'Madison' were sown in four pellet-type growing media: Grodan rockwool (GRW), UR rockwool (URW), phenolic foam LC (LC) or phenolic foam LC-lite (LC-lite). Then, the seedlings were transplanted to the four cube-type growing media 19 days after sowing. Seeds were germinated in a growth chamber ($25{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, 80% relative humidity, and dark) for 4 days and then the seedlings were grown with a nutrient solution supplied by an overhead irrigation system in a greenhouse. Plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, and fresh or dry weight of tomato seedlings were the greatest for the seedlings transplanted to URW cube media after being grown on LC-lite pellets. Root grade was the greatest for the seedlings transplanted on LC or LC-lite cube media after being grown on LC pellets. Chemical properties of all media tested for tomato growth were maintained within a stable range, while physical properties of URW showed high values in container capacity, air space, and total porosity. These results demonstrated that the phenolic foam media were effective for seedling growth and can substitute for rockwool as a root medium.
