  • The computer hardware development has provided many chances of emergence between art and technology. In many cases today's interactive artworks cannot be completed without audience's participation. The interactive production process with technical supplementation can be celled feedback. Mr. Nam Jun Paik showed 'Participant TV' that interacts with audience's response in real time. It means artwork changes with the constantly changing value from the data set from human visual perception. Dan Graham showed another feedback related work, which delays 5second playback in mirror that implies consequence of time. Today's media art has to sublimate coincidence, time ant audience into philosophical artwork through consonance that comes with video and sound as we can see from Bill Viola. Stelarc produced artworks. That use input data that is weak signals from brain, muscles. Through a terminal display with player, body expanded meaning of media. Jeffrey Shaw's 'Legible City' provided a fabrication of the reality with the interaction of bicycle's pedal speed and steering direction that is controlled by 4river. RE:MARK used microphone as input device as Edmond Couchot's 'Je same a la vent' and Nam Jun Paik's 'Participant TV' did. There is no communication without feedback between human being. The reality makes audience involved into artworks. That is the reason why feedback has to be natural. Through the feedback process, the originality of the idea is altered by audience. The feedback is not just part of flesh of artwork rather skeleton of it. Technological showoff cannot be art itself The perfection of technological application plan helps feedback that interacts with audience naturally in order that audience hoes not feel the feedback as artificial plan. Interactive media art has to be evolved into new media form with new integration feedback technology.

The Self in the Making - Beyond the "reason vs. emotion" - (만들어지는 자아 - "이성 vs. 감성"을 너머 -)

  • In order to concludes that human being is in the making, not a being already perfectly made, this paper goes through four steps. The first step raises a question that human being is only a being of reason. The Kant's assertion that human being has a moral capacity of 'good will' seems to be distorted portrait of human being. The second step calls into a question that human being can obey universal moral laws. Any universal moral law can't be obeyed by moral agent, because he can't exclude his external situations which are ceaselessly changing. Nevertheless imperatives of reason which require to obey the universal moral laws seems to be a 'unfortunate legacy' to human being. The third step demonstrates that imperatives of reason are originated from dualism which have dichotomize "mind vs. body" as "internal capacity vs. external situation". According to dualism, imperatives of reason require internal capacity to exclude emotions or desires which are sensitive to external influences. The fourth step discusses that interacting of inner and outer is to be necessary for human being. Then, reason is to be really in one glove with emotions which are beginning form externals, otherwise reason can't stop being powerless to any external situation. Concludingly any human being is to be processing to a new being, not situating any extreme antagonism of "reason vs. emotion". Because of emotional human animal, not a perfect god, humans being is in the ceaseless process into the making a new self.

The Crisis of Climate Change and the Direction of Christian Ecological Education (기후변화의 위기와 기독교 생태교육의 방향 모색)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the direction that Christian education should take as an ecological education in the crisis of climate change. What climate change shows is that it is impossible to survive even if the Earth's temperature rises by only 2-3 degrees. However, our current appearance is concerned about the crisis of climate change as long as we do not change our lives. First, the meaning of climate change and its causes were examined. The anthropocentric worldview, modern industrial, scientific and technological growth, and consumption-oriented social structure can be cited as the causes. An anthropocentric worldview justifies everything from the human point of view, and nature is the subject of human domination, but one regarded as a tool. In addition, as the scale of human economic activity increases, energy consumption increases, and the threat of ecosystem destruction increases with the increase in energy consumption. Individual affluence and increased consumption are exacerbating ecosystem tensions. In order to solve the problem of climate change, ecological education clues were found in the Bible. Through creation, the relationship between humans and nature was identified as coexistence and coexistence. Through the principle of sabbath, it is possible to bring about the restoration of humans and nature, and from the point of view of the incarnation, the world was understood as the 'body' of God. Based on these clues, the direction of Christian ecological education was explored by suggesting a transition to an ecological paradigm, restoration of creative spirituality, and cultivation of ecological imagination. In the crisis of climate change, it is hoped that the recovery of the earth will take place and that we will be able to stand again as a responsible being through the Christian ecological educational approach.

  • Science of gaining knowledge by the study of things[格物致知學]' is the translation of Science in Chosun age. Science of gaining knowledge by the study of things[格物致知學] which is the highest stage of new science is the symbol of the transfer of universal culture to the western modern civilization from old-fashioned confucianism. Modern western culture and the scientific way of thinking make man as a object to scientific research. Thinking method of social Darwinism made man believe to think like them as the modern method. And also such thinking method made man militarism and imperialism are right thinking and research methods. The core to think the science of gaining knowledge by the study of things[格 物致知學] as a violent thinking method is the Confucianism. By this method Park Eun-sik criticize this side of scientific technology as the means of militarism. Till now we pointed to think of the traditional philosophy as the tool of the western modern philosophy about war criminal. Now we rethink of the Confucianism asset as a tool of Korean Modern Culture. Musungmumul[無誠無 物] will offer moral basis to think humanism of the scientific technology of the modern western culture.

대순사상의 인문정신과 인류평안의 이념

  • 대순사상은 인간의 행위와 정신적 틀, 즉 몸과 마음을 닦고 세상을 다스리며 백성을 평안하게 하는 도리를 설파하고 있다. 우주 공간의 질서와 깊은 연관을 맺는 이러한 도리는 인간 자신의 인지(認知)와 심신 수양의 내용을 포함하며, 사람이 사회와 우주자연과의 관계를 어떻게 처리해 나갈 것인지에 관한 문제도 다루고 있다. 따라서 대순사상을 인문이라는 관점에 입각하여 분석해 볼 필요가 있다. 이탈리아에서 시작된 서양의 인문주의와 비교해 볼 때, 중국 전통의 인문정신은 인류 개체의 창조력과 그 성과를 인정하고, 인격적 수양과 개선을 주장하며, 사회의 조화를 강조하는 한편, 인류가 반드시 천지인의 조화로운 관계 속에서 개체와 전체의 생존을 파악해야 함을 강조한다. 이러한 인문정신은 『전경』에서도 찾아볼 수 있다. 그 하나가 모악산과 단주(丹朱)에 대한 서술인데, 모악산은 산 즉 '간'(艮)괘이며 단주는 적색에 상응하니 곧 '리'(離)괘가 된다. 이 두 괘가 서로 조합하면 '비(比)'괘가 되며, 『주역』의 비괘와 연관하여 서로 간의 모순을 없애고, '바둑'을 두는 기법을 거울삼아 심성을 다스리며, 인격을 완성하고, 인신이 조화를 이루도록 하며, 사회를 안정시킬 것을 말한다. 대순 신앙의 최종 목표는 지상천국을 건설하는 것인데, 이런 목표를 실현하기 위해서는 인격수양을 그 출발점으로 삼아야 한다. 인격수양의 목표는 바른 도인이 되기 위한 것이며, 이를 위해서는 수도 공부를 해야만 한다. 수도는 춘추시기 노자 이래로 유구한 문화적 전통을 지닌 것이지만, 대순진리회는 한국사회 역사의 경향과 현실의 필요에 부응하여 수도 이론을 새롭게 수립하였다. 이를 살펴보면, 대순진리회는 수도자가 '성(誠), 경(敬), 신(信)'에 힘쓰는 품격 함양을 매우 중시한다. 또 도인들이 가정의 화목에 힘써야 하며, 솔선수범하는 도인으로서 사회의 모범이 되어야 한다고 말한다. 이렇게 볼 때, 대순진리회는 '인도'(人道)를 함양함을 강조하고 있으며, 이것은 전통적인 유가에서 말하는 '수신, 제가' (修身, 齊家)의 정신과 그 의미가 맞닿아 있다. 또한 중국 도교의 '선도(仙道)를 이루고자 하면 먼저 인도(人道)를 행하라'는 사상적 취지와도 일치한다. 대순진리회에서 수도의 최종 목표는 도통이다. 도통은 수도자가 매우 높은 경지에 이르게 되었을 때 가지는 특수한 능력과 정신의 경지이다. '도통'에 대한 기록은 『장자·제물론』, 『문자』의 「부언편>(符言篇) 등에서 찾아볼 수 있는데, 대순진리회가 말하는 도통은 중국의 도가 전통에 보이는 도통과도 연관되지만 강한 인륜수양(人倫修養)적 특색을 지니고 있다는 점에서 차이가 있다. 이것은 대순진리회가 가지는 중요한 인문적 함의라 하겠다. 대순진리회는 수도 공부로써 광제창생·보국안민·지상천국건설의 사회적 이상을 실현하고자 한다. 조화로운 사회적 관계를 수립하기 위한 토대는 대순진리회의 종지 첫 번째인 음양합덕이다. 음양합덕은 대순진리의 인문 취지의 이론적 기초를 형성하는 사상이다. 음양합덕의 철학적 사고는 종지 두 번째인 신인조화(神人調化)의 이상으로 이어진다. 신인조화는 『상서·순전』(尙書·舜典)의 신인이화(神人以和)에서 그 사상적 연원을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 다만 신인이화가 율려 조화의 '결과'를 표현한 것이라면, 신인조화에서 중시하는 것은 '과정'이며 인간과 신의 상호작용이라는 점에 그 특징이 있다. 신인조화를 이루기 위해서는 공부를 해야 하며, 그 배후에는 인본(人本)의 사상이 깃들어 있다. 그것은 종지 세 번째인 '해원상생'의 내용에서 더욱 명확하게 드러난다. 신인조화가 인간과 신의 관계를 조화롭게 하는 것을 말한다면, 해원상생은 인간과 인간의 관계를 조화롭게 하는 것을 말한다. 또 다른 한편으로는 긴 역사의 과정 속에서 맺힌 원을 풀어 우주의 기운을 잘 통할 수 있게 하고 인간 사회의 정상적인 교류를 이루도록 한다. 이러한 내용은 사회적인 인문적 관심과 배려를 다분히 포함하고 있는 것이다. 대순진리회의 종지 네 번째인 도통진경은 수도의 가장 높은 경지를 말하는데, 이러한 이념은 노장 일파의 도가 학자들이 말한 순박한 본성으로 회귀하자는 정신에서 그 원류를 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 또한 이는 한진(漢晉)시대 이래 중국 도교가 추구했던 '진경' 의 의미와도 합치된다. 그러나 시대와 환경이 다름으로 인해, 대순진리회의 '진경'은 사회생활의 의미까지 내포한다. 비록 대순진리회의 경전이 인본(人本)을 명확히 밝히고 있지는 않으나, 대순진리회의 요의(要義) 중 하나인 인존사상은 대순진리회의 인문정신을 말해주는 것이다. 인존사상의 직접적인 기능은 평안(平安)으로서 삶을 이롭게 하는 것이다. 대순진리회는 우주대원의 진리를 '도'라 하였는데 이러한 '도'는 중국의 도가에서 말하는 '도'와 동일하며, 여기에는 '안(安)'의 의미가 포함되어 있다. 대순진리회의 신조 중 '안심', '안신'은 마음을 정(靜)하게 하고, 몸을 편하게 하는 것으로 볼 수 있지만, 심신의 공포와 두려움을 떨쳐내어 안전과 보호를 얻는다는 의미도 있으므로 결국 평안이 전제가 된다. 이렇듯 대순진리회에서는 '평안에 대한 희구'를 근본으로 하여 신앙인들이 열심히 수도에 정진하고 있다. 대순진리회가 인류 평안을 기본으로 하는 종교라는 점에서, 반드시 세인들의 환영을 받을 것임을 믿어 의심치 않는다.

Humanistic Science Education through Context-Rich Approaches (맥락 중심 접근법을 통한 인간주의적 과학 교육)

  • School science is often criticized as being too remote from both learners' interests and needs and as maintaining scientist-oriented approaches rather than humanistic ones. Although science is mainly taught on the basis of textbooks inside classrooms, the learning of science can not be confined to the boundaries of curriculum and school. Firstly, this paper briefly reviews and characterizes the historical development of science education with a series of analogies, and then suggests a new analogy, a so-called 'Hearts-On' approach to science education which emphasizes the humanistic aspects and the contextual dimension of science education. Secondly, it critically examines how much traditional school science teaching, particularly in physics, is limited in terms of the context of learning (i.e. textbook, laboratory, classroom, local, and global) as well as in terms of the context of the contents (i.e. physical, personal, social, and global). Thirdly, some recent attempts initiated by the author and colleagues are explained as examples of the Hearts-On approach to science education. In particular, a series of community-based science programs led by SNU and the development of a series of books on 'Contextual Physics'(i.e. Body Physics, Wearing Physics, Dining Table Physics, and Sports Physics) are outlined. Finally, the idea of scientific humanism is explored in relation to the context-rich approaches in science education. It is hoped that this paper helps us to reconsider how we can expand the world of science education beyond the boundaries of the curriculum and school and into a more humanistic one.

Microplastics in the Marine Environment and Their Impacts on Human Health (해양 환경의 미세 플라스틱과 인간의 건강에 미치는 영향)

  • Microplastics are fragments of any type of plastic with a size less than 5 mm. Ocean pollution by microplastics is now a worldwide concern in relation to marine ecosystems and human health. The widespread contamination by microplastics means that they can be ingested by and accumulated in diverse species of wildlife, such as fish, mussels, oysters, clams, and scallops. Once ingested, the microplastics can be observed in the intestines, liver, and kidney, and even in the brain. Seafood is one of the major sources of protein intake in humans; therefore, seafood consumption could be pathway for human microplastics exposure. Accumulating evidence indicates that repeated oral exposure to microplastics induces pathologic and functional changes in the reproductive, cardiac, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and even nervous systems of rodents. Maternal exposure to microplastics during gestation and lactation alters metabolic homeostasis in the offspring. Given that seafood provides more than 20% of the total protein intake by over 310 million people worldwide, a reasonable assumption is that microplastics could be substantially accumulated in the human body and impair physiological function. In this review, we have summarized the current status of microplastics contamination in the ocean, their accumulation and toxicities in marine animals and rodents, their exposure to humans, and their potential impacts on human health.

A Study on the Trend Analysis St Environment of Motion Graphic. -Focused on Historical Backgrounds of Motion Graphic Appearance- (모션그래픽의 환경과 경향분석에 관한 연구 -모션그래픽 출현의 역사적 배경을 중심으로 -)

  • Graphic Design is being developed as a unique genre and widely applied to movie, TV broadcasting, music video, computer an, web design, animation, and game. Some university added motion graphics in their curriculum recently. However Motion Graphic has not been defined clearly and pedagogy of motion graphics was not studied enough. Motion Graphic is not merely moving picture. Its typical purpose and concept are evolving because of the diversified application. Meta-synthesis between media and hybrid development based on diverse approach and composite presentational methods are also changing Motion Graphic. Various technology such as photograph, analytical engine, hypermedia, multimedia, digital composite picture, network and interface should be studied to understand Motion Graphic. This study reviews the historic background of Motion Graphic mainly related to its advent. A fundamental definition of Motion Graphic including the space and time is suggested and the international trend is introduced. Future Motion Graphic and possible development was also predicted.

Locomotion of Biped Robots on Irregular Surface Based on Pseudo-Impedance Model (의사-임피던스 모델을 이용한 비평탄면에서의 2족보행로봇의 보행)

  • This paper proposes a control method based on a pseudo-impedance model to control the motion of biped robots walking on an uneven surface. The pseudo-impedance model simulates the action of the ankle of a foot landing on the ground when a human walks. When the foot is in contact with the ground, the human ankle goes through two different phases. In the first phase, the human exerts little or no effort and applies no torque on the ankle so that the orientation of the foot is effortlessly and passively adjusted with respect to the ground. In the second phase of landing, the ankle generates a significant amount of torque in order to rotate and move the main part of the human body forward and to support the weight of the human; this phase is called the weight acceptance phase. Computer simulations of a 12-DOF biped robot with a 6-DOF environment model were performed to determine the effectiveness of the proposed pseudo-impedance control. The simulation results show that stable locomotion can be achieved on an irregular surface by using the proposed model.

Recognition of Hand gesture to Human-Computer Interaction (손동작 인식을 통한 Human-Computer Interactio 구현)

  • 인간의 손동작 인식은 오랫동안 언어로서의 역할을 해왔던 통신수단의 한 방법이다. 현대의 사회가 정보화 사회로 진행됨에 따라 보다 빠르고 정확한 의사소통 및 정보의 전달을 필요로 하는 가운데 사람과 컴퓨터간의 상호 연결 혹은 사람의 의사 표현에 있어 기존의 장치들이 가지는 단점을 보안하며 이 부분에 사람의 두 손으로 표현되는 자유로운 몸짓을 이용하려는 연구가 최근에 많이 진행되고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문에선 2차원의 입력 영상으로부터 동적인 손동작의 인식을 위해 복잡하고 시간이 많이 소요되는 기존의 방법과는 다르게 부가적인 특별한 장치의 사용 없이 손의 특징을 이용한 새로운 인식 알고리즘을 제안하고, 보다 높은 인식률과 실 시간적 처리를 위해 Radial Basis Function Network 및 부가적인 특징점을 통한 손동작의 인식을 구현하였다. 또한 인식된 손동작의 의미를 바탕으로 인식률 및 손동작 표현의 의미성에 대한 정확도를 판별하기 위해 로봇의 제어에 적용한 실험을 수행하였다.
