The chemical structures of four phenolic compounds isolated from Panax ginseng were identified to be salicylic acid, p-coumaric acid, gentisic acid and caffeic acid by spectral data of IR, MS and $^1H-NMR$ spectroscopy. Among them, gentisic acid and caffeic acid were the first compounds isolated and identified from Panax ginseng.

This paper analyzed longitudinal end effect occurred in linear induction motor by using I-d direct solution and its result is verified by 2-d Finite Element Method(FEM). Longitudinal end effect of linear induction motor caused by magnetic discontinuity in primary core and electric discontinuity in armature winding has been investigated by many researchers. In this paper, 1-d direct solution and boundary conditions proposed by Yamamura and Nasar is used to analyze end effect of linear induction motor and its solution is verified by 2-d FEM.

An improved transfer alignment method for a strap-down inertial navigation system (SDINS) is presented here. The alignment accuracy in conventional method is vulnerable to the data latency of a Master INS (MINS) in high maneuverable platforms. We propose a time delay compensation equation considering higher-order terms in the attitude measurement equation of the Kalman filter. The equation incorporates additional information including angular rate, angular acceleration and linear acceleration from the MINS. Simulation results show that the transfer alignment accuracy is significantly improved in the high dynamic environment by incorporating the latency compensation technique.

The amphipods collected from 18 localities of Jindo Island, Korea during the period June to July in 2004 turned out to be 35 species in 18 genera of 12 families. Among them, Photis longicaudata(Bate and Westwood) is recorded newly to Korean fauna.

Purpose: To analyse the risk factors for recurrence of hemangiomas in extremities after surgical treatment and to compare with those of trunk. Materials and Methods: 120 cases of hemangioma with surgical treatments from June 1998 to September 2009 were analysed. 53 cases with surgical treatment on trunk in the same period were set to be the control group. We analyze several factors: age, location, site, size, histologic types and correlation between recurrence and each risk factor using logistic regression analysis. Results: Recurrence rate was 11.7% in extremities and 9.4% in trunk. There were no correlation between recurrence and age, site, size, histologic type. But, there was stastically significant correlation between recurrence rate and location, especially hand, forearm, feet in extremities and head and neck in trunk. Conclusion: Recurrence after surgical treatment of hemangioma is highly prevalent in anatomical location such as, hand, foot and forearm those are difficult to achieve complete resection because of close to neurovascular structures. Careful observation should be needed owing to incomplete resection can occurs recurrence.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activities of chopping boards made of various materials such as three antibiotic plastics, a general plastic, and various woods (red pine, rubber tree, cypress, birch, and bamboo) using zone inhibition assay and real-time PCR. Wood chopping boards showed high antimicrobial activity against Vibrio vulnificus, while plastic chopping boards showed high antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Staphylococcus aureus. Bamboo chopping board among the wood chopping boards showed the highest antimicrobial activity against five foodborne bacteria such as E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, Vibrio cholerae, and V. vulnificus. These results may be helpful in the selection of a chopping board with high antimicrobial activity and in the application of hygiene procedures for prevention of cross-contamination.

In this study, genotyping was executed by using 13 microsatellite markers for genetic diversity of 224 Gorals (Saanen(88), Laoshan(67), Toggenburg(32), Alpine(12), Anglonubian(9), Jamnapari(7) and Black Bengal(4)). The number of alleles was observed 4 (INRA005) to 18 (SRCRSP23) each markers. Observed heterozygostiy ($H_{obs}$), expected heterozygosity ($H_{\exp}$) and polymorphism information content (PIC) were observed 0.482 to 0.786, 0.476 to 0.923, and 0.392 to 0.915, respectively. Principal Components Analysis(PCoA) results were similar to the results of FCA. NE-I(on-exclusion probability for identity of two unrelated individuals) was estimated at $2.47{\times}10^{-15}$. In conclusion, this study shows the useful data that be utilized as a basic data of Gorals breeding and development.

Two cases of human infection by Stellantchasmus falcatus (Heterophyidae) were identified by collection of adult worms during the treatment of some tapeworm infections in Korea. The cases were 24 (Case 1) and 55-year old (Case 2) males residing in Seoul. The Case 1 had gastrointestinal troubles such as diarrhea and abdominal pain, and heart problems such as palpitation and arrhythmia, revealing the eggs of Diphyllobothrium latum in the feces. The Case 2 complained indigestion and discharge of tapeworm (Taenia saginata) segments. Praziquantel at the dose of 15-20mg/kg body weight and 30 g magnesium salt were given to them for treatment of the tapeworm infections and the discharged strobilae were identified. However, concommitantly with the tapeworms, 188 and 5 specimens of S. falcatus were collected from Case 1 and Case 2 respectively through stereomicroscopy of the diarrheal stools. The Case 1 was infected also with 3 other kinds of heterophyid flukes. They said to have eaten raw brackish water fish such as mullets which are considered to be the source of heterophyid fluke infections.

Two human cases of Heterophyes heterophyes nocens infection were proved by identifying adult worms after treatment with bithionol or praziquantel in 1983 in Korea. They are 37 (Case 1) and 24-year old (Case 2) males whose resi¬dence or native village is a southern coastal area in Kohiing-gun, Chollanam-do. The Case 1 had the gastrointestinal symptoms such as epigastric pain and indigestion, and the Case 2 heart problems such as arrhythmia and ventricular premature beat in EKG and digestive symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain. After the treatments, 35 and 67 specimens of H. hetero¬phyes nocens respectively were collected from the diarrheal stools through stereomicroscopy. The Case 1 was concommitantly infected with Clonorchis sinensis and the Case 2 with 3 other kinds of heterophyid flukes and with Diphyllo¬bothrium latum. The cases said to have eaten raw brackish water fish such as mullets (Mugil cephalus), perches (Lateolabrax japonicus) and gobies (Acanthogobius flavimanus) which are the intermediate hosts of H. heterophyes nocens in Korea.

We have synthesized the soluble polymide based side chain system with covalently attached NLO chromophore Disperse Red 1. The developed polymer is optically transparent in the range of optical communication wave-lengths. Its glass transition temperature$(T_g)$ and thermal decomposition temperature$(T_d)$ are $225^{\circ}C, 310^{\circ}C$ respectively. The poled film with the poling field of $100 V/\mu\textrm{m}$ shows that the dielectric constant is 3.37 at the 10-kHz frequency, the refractive indices of TM and TE modes are both 1.631 at $\lambda = 1300 nm$, and the Electro-optic coefficients are 4.6~9.2 pm/V at $\lambda = 1300 nm$. There are no decays of the EO coefficient in the poled polymer at $180^{\circ}C$ in one hour, and $90^{\circ}C$ in 500 hours.
