Umami Taste-Yielding Food Materials on Calcium-Sensing Receptor, a Kokumi Taste Receptor (감칠맛 식품 소재가 Kokumi 맛 감지 칼슘수용체에 미치는 효과)

  • Umami taste-yielding foods, such as, Joseonganjang, dried anchovies, dried shiitake, dried Konbu (kelp), and Yukjeot, are widely used in the Korean cuisine as soup base. While Umami taste enhancement related to Kokumi taste substances has been proposed in human sensory studies, the potential action of Kokumi taste substances has not been explored on calcium-sensing receptors (CaSR), here referred to as Kokumi taste receptors. In this study, we investigated the effect of Umami taste-yielding foods on Kokumi taste receptors using cells expressing human CaSR. We monitored the temporal changes in intracellular Ca2+ in HEK293T cells expressing CaSR in response to aqueous extract of Joseonganjang, dried anchovies, dried shiitake, dried Konbu, and Yukjeot. Kokumi substances tested-glutathione and γ-Glu-Val-Gly- evoked intracellular Ca2+ influx in a concentration-dependent manner. A similar increment of intracellular Ca2+ influx was induced by Joseonganjang, Yukjeot, and dried anchovies, but not by dried shiitake and dried Konbu. Only Joseonganjang- and Yukjeot-evoked intracellular Ca2+ influx was significantly reduced by NPS 2143, a CaSR-specific antagonist. These data indicated that some Umami substances/Umami-yielding materials could activate CaSR, but this property was not observed for all the Umami tasting substances.

A Case-Study of Taeeumin Patient with Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders Having Dizziness and Gait Disturbance (비정형파킨슨증후군 태음인의 어지럼증과 보행장애 치험례)

  • A 52-year-old female diagnosed with Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders (APD) about one year ago suffered from dizziness and gait disturbance. The patient was identified as Taeeumin esophagus-cold lung-dry symptomatology pattern and was treated with Jowisengcheong-tang. The patient's symptoms of dizziness and night sweats were assessed using Global Assessment Scale (GAS). And, the Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale (UMSARS) and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) were used to assess the overall function of the patient. The patient's symptoms of dizziness and night sweats were significantly improved, and UMSARS and MDS-UPDRS scores were decreased. This case showed that Sasang constitutional medicine treatment can improve APD symptoms and improve the quality of life of the patient.

  • In the periodic surveillance material test for the spacer component of fuel channel assembly in CANDU, a microstructural characterization analysis is required in addition to the mechanical property evaluation test. In this study, detailed microstructure analysis and simple mechanical property evaluation of archive spacer parts were conducted to indirectly support the surveillance test and assist in the study of spacer material degradation. We investigated the microstructural characteristics of the spacer garter spring coil through comparative analysis with the plate material. The main microstructure characteristics of the garter spring coil X-750 are represented by the fine grain size distribution, the ordering phase distribution developed inside the matrix, the high dislocation density inside the grains, and the arrangement of coarse carbides. In addition, the yield strength of the garter spring coil X-750 was indirectly evaluated to be approximately 1 GPa. We also established an analytical method to elucidate the microstructural evolution of the radioactive spacer garter spring coil X-750 based on Canadian research experiences. Finally, we confirmed the measurement technique for helium bubble formation through TEM examination on the helium implanted X-750 material.

  • 유역의 하천유량과 같은 수문 시계열을 모의 또는 예측하기 위한 수문 모델링에서 최근 기계 학습 방법을 활용한 연구가 활발하게 적용되고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 데이터 기반 모델링 접근법은 입출력 자료에서 관찰된 패턴을 학습하며, 특히, 장단기기억(Long Short-Term Memory, LSTM) 네트워크는 많은 연구에서 수문 시계열 예측에 대한 적용성이 검증되었으나, 장기간의 고품질 관측자료를 활용할 때 더 나은 예측성능을 보인다. 그러나 우리나라의 경우 장기간 관측된 고품질의 하천유량 자료를 확보하기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 LSTM 네트워크의 학습 시 가용한 모든 유역의 자료를 통합하여 학습시켰을 때 하천유량 예측성능을 개선할 수 있는지 판단해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 우리나라 13개 댐 유역을 대상으로 대상 유역의 자료만을 학습한 모델의 예측성능과 모든 유역의 자료를 학습한 모델의 예측성능을 비교해 보았다. 학습은 2001년부터 2010년까지 기상자료(강우, 최저·최고·평균기온, 상대습도, 이슬점, 풍속, 잠재증발산)를 이용하였으며, 2011년부터 2020년에 대해 테스트 되었다. 다지점 통합학습을 통해 테스트 기간에 대해 예측된 각 유역의 일 하천유량의 KGE 중앙값이 0.74로 단일지점 학습을 통해 예측된 KGE(0.72)보다 다소 개선된 결과를 보여주었다. 다지점 통합학습이 하천유량 예측에 큰 개선을 달성하지는 못하였으며, 추가적인 가용 자료 확보와 LSTM 구성의 개선을 통해 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 엣지컴퓨팅 기반 유해조수 퇴치 Drone의 유해조수 추적 기술은 Doppler Sensor를 이용해 사유지에 침입한 유해조수를 인식 후 사용자에게 위험 요소에 대한 알림 서비스를 제공한다. 이후 사용자는 Drone의 Camera와 전용 애플리케이션을 이용해 경작지를 실시간으로 보며 Drone을 조종한다. Camera는 Tensor Flow Object Detection Deep Learning을 적용하여 유해조수를 학습 및 파악, 추적한다. 이후 Drone은 Speaker와 Neo Pixel LED Ring을 이용해 유해조수의 시각과 청각을 자극해 도망을 유도하며 퇴치한다. Tensor Flow object detection을 핵심으로 Drone에 접목했고 이를 위해 전용 애플리케이션을 개발했다.

  • There is growing tendency to find rest in one's own space for senses of isolation and loneliness were felt as excluded from the contemporary society. It is necessary for a private space to be reproduced as a place of consolation and cure beyond rest. This study is dealing with project research works, which are exhibited in 2014 Home Table Deco Fair with the theme of for individual rest and consolation. This study, based on the investigation of Korean lifestyle and trend, considered design, in the living space of modern people with Korean-style design, and in the perspective of color, quality of material, and aesthetic sense, and suggests that design convergence of the east and the west. This study can contribute to recreate meaning and principles of design based on Korean aesthetics and culture according to the needs of the present age.

  • 전 지구적 기후변화로 세계 곳곳은 이례적인 홍수와 가뭄 등으로 많은 재산 및 인명 피해가 발생하고 있다. 우리나라의 경우, 강우 강도가 크고 단기간 많은 양의 비가 내리는 집중호우의 빈도가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 또한, 우리나라의 국토는 약 70%가 산지로 이루어져 있고, 경사가 험준한 지형을 지니고 있어 강우 시 유출이 급격히 발생하는 것이 특징이다. 이러한 기후 패턴과 지형적 특성으로 인하여 토양침식이 가중되고 있으며, 그중 강원도의 경우 산지 곳곳에 위치한 고랭지 밭으로 인해 강우 시 많은 양의 토사가 유실되어 농경지가 감소하고 있으며, 유실된 토사의 하천 유입으로 인한 하천 통수능력의 저하와 수질 악화 등 다양한 문제를 발생시키고 있다. 본 연구에서는 물리기반 모형인 SSEM (SSORii Erosion Model)을 이용하여 강원도 평창군에 위치한 도암댐 유역의 필지를 중심으로 침식과 퇴적의 양상을 분석해보고자 하였다. SSEM은 단기 강우 사상을 모의할 수 있고, 침식과 퇴적의 시·공간적 변동성을 반영할 수 있어 침식이 언제, 어디서, 얼마나 발생하였는지 식별이 가능한 모형이다. 연구분석 결과, 대부분의 필지에서 침식과 퇴적이 발생하였으며, 그중 도심지 주변에 위치한 필지에서 많은 토양침식이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 본 유역의 현장 조사 당시 육안으로 확인한 침식의 실태와 상당 부분 일치하고 있음을 보여준다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine historical development, ideology and praxis of Islamic radicalism in Indonesia. In the second part of this paper, radical trends under Sukarno and Suharto governments will be dealt with, focusing on three streams of Darul Islam, Dewan Dakwah Islamiyah Indonesia and Islamic secret sects. The third part investigates the surge of radical Islamic movements after the fall of Suharto regime. For this, three organizations are again selected for detailed analysis. This paper argues that, judging from active engagements of radical organizations in national and international affairs and favorable attitude of general Muslims toward them, radicalism has recently established itself as one of the major constituents of Indonesian Islam. To put it differently, the current situation signifies that under the Suharto regime, a diversification of so-called the santri has been underway. Contrary to the traditional santri group which emphasizes the fulfillment of faith in the private sphere, another group has been crystallized, which gives priority to Islamic roles in public sphere and attempts to realize these. It is difficult to pinpoint the reasons why this group has emerged. Its effect, however, can relatively easily be grasped. With the surge of this new radical stream, the rhetoric of an establishment of Islamic state and a realization of Islamic law has no longer been tabooed and has been instated as the key element in public discourse of Islam.

The Impact of Social Support in the Workplace on Job Satisfaction Among Childcare Centers Teachers: The Mediating Role of Interpersonal Competence (보육교사의 직장 내 사회적 지지가 직무만족도에 미치는 영향: 대인관계 유능성의 매개효과)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to verify whether teachers' interpersonal competence serves as a mediator between perceived social support in the workplace, as perceived by childcare teachers, and their level of job satisfaction. Methods: The participants of this study comprised 422 childcare teachers employed in childcare centers across Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province. Correlation analysis was performed using the collected data to examine the relationships between variables. Additionally, regression analysis was carried out to validate the mediating role of interpersonal relationship competence in the association between workplace social support and job satisfaction. Results: The study's findings revealed a positive correlation between interpersonal competence and job satisfaction. The study successfully confirmed the mediating role of interpersonal competence among childcare teachers in the connection between workplace social support and job satisfaction. Conclusion/Implications: The results suggest that enhancing the job satisfaction of childcare teachers requires identifying diverse social support systems within childcare centers that influence them. It is imperative to formulate strategies that highly value social support and concurrently enhance interpersonal skills.

Occupational stress in dental hygienists: A systematic review (치과위생사의 직무스트레스에 관한 체계적 문헌고찰)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze research literature, created over the past 10 years, on occupational stress among domestic dental hygienists and identify the major factors affecting occupational stress. Methods: Of the 192 articles found through literature searches, 26 were selected for the analysis after reviewing titles, abstracts, and full texts. General characteristics of each study, measurement tools employed, and data related to pertinent factors were systematically analyzed. Results: Seven instruments were utilized to measure job stress. Among the variables exhibiting positive correlation with occupational stress, turnover intention was the most prevalent, while variables showing negative correlation were predominantly associated with job satisfaction. Factors influencing occupational stress included emotional labor, workload, organizational social capital, and experiencing verbal abuse. Conclusions: With regard to the most influential factors, "emotional labor" and "turnover intention" had the greatest impacts on job stress and occupational stress, respectively. Based on the findings of this study, follow-up research needs to be conducted to suggest ways to prevent, manage, and reduce occupational stress among dental hygienists
