Changes in The Pressure-Flow Control Characteristics of Shunt Valves Under Brain Pressure Pulsation (뇌압 펄스하에서 션트밸브의 압력-유량제어 특성곡선의 변화)

  • Shunt valves implanted in the subcutaneous tissue of brain to treat patient with hydrocephalus were numerically simulated to investigate influence of pressure pulsation on their flow control characteristics. Shunt valves are subjected to pressure variation since ventricles enclosing the brain are under pressure pulsation rather than uniform pressure due to blood pressure variation. We modeled flow orifice through shunt valve and imposed pulsating pressure and valve diaphragm movement to compute flow through the valve. The results of our study indicated that flow rate increased by $40{\%}$ by introducing pressure pulsation and diaphragm movement on the shunt valve. Our results demonstrate the pressure-flow control characteristics of shunt valves unplanted above human brain may be quite different from the characteristics obtained by syringe pump test with uniform pressure and no diaphragm movement.

NURBS Interpolator for Controlling the Surface Roughness (표면 거칠기를 고려한 NURBS 보간기)

  • Finish machining of a curved surface is often carried out by an NC system with curve interpolation in the field. This NURBS interpolation adopts a feedrate optimizing strategy based on both the geometrical information and dynamic properties. In case of a finish cut using a ball-end mill. the curve interpolator needs to take the machining process into account for more improved surface, while reducing the polishing time. In this study, the effect of low machinability at the bottom of a tool on surface roughness is also considered. A particular curve interpolation algorithm is proposed for generating feedrate commands which are able to control the roughness of a curved surface. The simulation of the machined surface by the proposed algorithm was carried out, and experimental results are presented.

  • 초음파 변환기의 음향 특성 평가항목으로는 주파수에 따른 출력특성, 입력 전압에 대한 출력의 선형성(방사컨덕턴스), 방사음장의 지향성 및 대칭성 등을 들 수 있다. 평면 주사기법은 교정된 하이드로폰을 이용하여, 초음파 변환기에서 방사된 음파가 형성하는 음장의 분포를 측정하는 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 이들을 측정할 수 있는 장치로 DC servo모터를 장착한 3 축 이송 장치와 가로 400 mm, 세로 800 mm, 높이 400 m를 갖는 수조를 제작하고 제어프로그램을 개발하여 상온의 증류수에 형성된 초음파 음장의 공간 분포를 실험하여, 이론적 예측값과 비교하였다.

  • In this paper, an algorithm is proposed for the automatic movement of the platform on a ladder lift which operates by using hydraulic force. Experimental data of the manual movement operated by experts are acquired and analyzed. The length of movement of the platform is estimated by the number of pulses from an encoder while the platform is moving. The operating characteristics have been extracted from the data. The number of pulses varies whenever the weight of load varies. We propose a model to compensate the difference of the number of pulses. An automatic movement algorithm based on the model is proposed. The platform can start and stop smoothly at the starting point and the destination point. Experimental results show that the error distance at the destination point is less than 5 cm when the length of the ladder is 23 m.

  • In this paper, we introduced a linear motor-based transfer system with an active pid controller which can be replaced with an automated guided vehicle (AGV) for the port automation. This system, which is named LMCTS(liner motor-based container transfer system), is based on PMLSM (permanent magnetic linear synchronous motor) which basically consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. Therefore more progressive and adaptive control mechanisms should be required to control a system with large variation of container weight, the difference of each characteristic of stator modules, a stator module's trouble etc. We introduced an active control mechanism with an online tuning scheme using modified evolutionary strategy. Some computer simulations are implemented to assess the robustness of the proposed system.

  • Studies on the optimizations of machining processes use two different methods. The first is feed control in real-time by spindle load in a machine tool. The second is feed scheduling in NC code control by material removal rate using a CAD/CAM system. Each approach possesses its respective merits and issues compared to the other. That is, each method can be complementary to the other. The purpose of the study is to improve the productivity of the bulkhead, an aircraft Duralumin structure. In this paper, acceleration or deceleration of cutting tool by spindle load data is achieved using adaptive feed control macro programming in a machine tool.

  • A flexible disk grinding system process has been introduced that utilized varying disk orientation with respect to workpiece along with the applied feed speed. Various process conditions including cutting speed, maximum feed speed and orientation angles could applied to observe process outcomes. Even though continuous and constant feed speed has been applied to the process, the results from the trapezoidal input velocity profiles would be observed and compared. Based on the control strategies including neural network methodologies, several output results were compared to find the optimum process condition. Two axis control results were displayed showing better performance with higher trajectory error for larger training epoch.

Particle Laden Flows Around Orifice Plates for Pressure Control in Pulverized Coal Pipe Lines (분체 이송관내 압력 조절을 위한 오리피스 주위에서의 입자 유동 및 마모 해석)

  • A numerical study is performed to investigate pressure drops, particle trajectories and erosion around orifice plates in pulverized coal pipe lines. Particle impaction rates change significantly with orifice shapes and Stokes numbers. At Reynolds number of $5{\times}10^5$, the pulverized coal flows well with streamlines and do not collide at the orifice plates at small sizes (${\sim}20{\mu}m$). However, the large particles (over $70{\mu}m$) impact on the front face of the orifice and erode the orifice surface. The pressure loss coefficients around the erode orifice are largely different from the designed original orifice.

  • 최근의 절삭가공 생산시스템은 무인자동화,고속화,정밀화로 대별되면서 생산성을 극대화시킬려는 방향으로 연구 가 진행되고 있다. 종래의 CNC화된 기계가공시스템에서는 절삭속도,이송속도 그리고 절삭깊이 등과 같은 절삭 조건은 On-line으로 조절되는 장치를 갖지 않고 Off-line으로 프로그래머의 경험이나 절삭가공의 데이터 핸드북을 통하여 결정되어진다. 이러한 절삭조건은 절삭률 즉 생산성의 측면에서 최적의 값이 될 수가 없다. 이는 프로그래머가 측면에서 최적의 값이 될 수가 없다. 이는 프로그래머가 공구의 마모나 표면거칠기, 또는 공작기계의 부하 등을 고려하여 극적으로 NC프로그램을 짜기 때문이다. 이러한 문제점 때문에 현재 개발되어지고 있는 대부분의 적응제어시스템은 실용화가 되지못하고 있는 실정이어서 효휼적인 적응시스템의 개발은 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 무인자동화 가공시스템에서 생산성을 최대화하기 위하여 사용하는 ACO 시스템에서 발생하는 상기의 문제를 해결하여 실용화할 수 있는 가공 최적화 시스템을 개발함을 연구의 목적으로 하고 있다.
