Technology of Sensors with Human Sensitivity (인간과 같은 감도를 가진 오감센서 기술)

  • The Internet of Things era is approaching where all the things are equipped with smart sensors and communicate through internet. The three core technologies of the Internet of Things are 'detection technology' to get information from things and the environment, 'wired and wireless communications and network infrastructure skills' that support to connect things to the internet, and 'service interface technology' that processes the information appropriate to various services. Smart sensor application can expand to smartphone, smart cars, smart home systems, wearable electronic devices, telemedicine systems, and environmental monitoring systems, etc. In particular, technologies that mimic the five human senses. This study reviews the biological principles of the human senses and the principles of operation, research & development status, technology trends and market analysis of the sensors.

Implementation of Data Protocol Conversion System for High-end CMOS Image Sensors Equipped with SMIA CCP2 Serial Interface (SMIA CCP2 직렬 인터페이스를 가지는 고기능 이미지 센서를 위한 데이터 프로토콜 변환 시스템의 구현)

  • Recently the high-end CMOS image sensors are developed, conforming to the SMIA CCP2 specification, which is a high-speed low-power serial interface based on LVDS technology. But this kind of technology trend makes the existing equipments are no longer useful, although their capability is still good enough to handle the recent image sensors if there was no interfacing problem. In this paper, we propose and realize a data protocol conversion system that translates the SMIA CCP2 serial signals into the existing 10-bit parallel signals. The proposed system is composed of a de-serializer and a FPCA chip, and thus can be constructed on a small PCB which enables easy integration between the existing equipments and the new high-end image sensors. Besides, the maximum transfer rate by the SMIA specification is also achieved on the implemented system. So it is expected that the implemented system can be used as a general-purpose protocol converter in a variety of sensor-related application fields.

  • This paper introduces a possibility of a low-cost, high-resolution fingerprint sensor chip. The test chip is composed of $64{\times}256$ sensing cells(chip size : $2.7mm{\times}10.8mm$). A new detection circuit of charge sharing is proposed, which eliminates the influences of internal parasitic copacitances. This the reduced sensing-capacitor size enables a high resolution of 600dpi, using even conventional 0.6${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The partial fingerprint image captured therefrom are synthesized into a full fingerprint image with a image synthesis algorithm. The problems and possibilities of image synthesis technique are also analyzed and discussed.

  • The black and white image scanning system realization and design using illumination control on CIS(Contact Image Sensor) be amenable to recognize a papers, OMR and OCR sheet is proposed. The design technique is used CIS scanning sensor in fixing step motor and is optimized with DSP processor for image processing, and transfer input image data pare line in feeding a step unit to PC on the USB interface. The method of illumination control is that turn on and off of CIS lamp while scanning paper. The scanner system with optimal illumination enhanced PSNR 0.3% in scanning image.

Improving Spatial Resolution in Real-time for Ultra-thin Light Field Cameras (초박형 라이트필드 카메라의 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘 개발)

  • 초박형 라이트필드 카메라 시스템은 이미지 센서 위에 렌즈 어레이를 부착하는 방식으로 만들어진다. 이러한 초박형 라이트필드 카메라는 하나의 이미지 센서를 여러 개의 sub-aperture가 나눠쓰는 방식으로 되어있어 개별 이미지의 분해능이 낮으며, sub-aperture 이미지들을 융합해 추가적인 분해능 향상이 수행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 초박형 라이트필드 카메라 시스템을 개발했으며, 개발된 카메라 시스템을 위한 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘을 개발, 실험을 통해 검증했다. 개발된 초박형 라이트필드 카메라는 두께 2mm, 24개(6×4)의 551×551 해상도의 sub-aperture로 구성되어 있으며, 임베디드 컴퓨팅 보드를 사용해 휴대가 가능하도록 제작되었다. 실시간 분해능 향상 알고리즘은 임베디드 컴퓨팅 보드의 GPU에서 병렬처리를 통해 라플라시안 피라미드 기반의 이미지 융합 알고리즘을 수행한다. 실험을 통해 검증한 결과로, 개발 시스템은 MTF50값이 평균 35% 정도 개선되었으며, 10.65fps의 처리속도로 실시간 처리가 가능함을 확인했다.

FPGA Design and Realization for Scanning Image Enhancement using LUT Shading Correction Algorithm (LUT 쉐이딩 보정 알고리듬을 이용한 스캐닝 이미지 향상 FPGA 설계 구현)

  • This paper describes FPGA design and realization using the shading correction algorithm for a CCD scan image enhancement. The shading algorithm is used by LUT (Look-up Table). The image enhancement results from that the histogram minimum value and maximum with respect to all pixels of the CCD image should be extracted, and the shading LUT is constructed to keep constant histogram with offset data. The output of sensor be converted to corrected LUT image in preprocessing, and the converting system is realized by FPGA to be enabled to operate in real time. The result of the experimentation for the proposed system is showed to take the scanning time 2.4ms below. The system is presented to be based on a low speed processor system to scan enhanced images in real time and be guaranteed to be low cost.

An Image Processing Mechanism for Disease Detection in Tomato Leaf (토마토 잎사귀 질병 감지를 위한 이미지 처리 메커니즘)

  • In the agricultural industry, wireless sensor network technology has being applied by utilizing various sensors and embedded systems. In particular, a lot of researches are being conducted to diagnose diseases of crops early by using sensor network. There are some difficulties on traditional research how to diagnose crop diseases is not practical for agriculture. This paper proposes the algorithm which enables to investigate and analyze the crop leaf image taken by image camera and detect the infected area within the image. We applied the enhanced k-means clustering method to the images captured at horticulture facility and categorized the areas in the image. Then we used the edge detection and edge tracking scheme to decide whether the extracted areas are located in inside of leaf or not. The performance was evaluated using the images capturing tomato leaves. The results of performance evaluation shows that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional algorithms in terms of classification capability.

360 VR Image Stitching Algorithm using Image Clustering based on Camera Sensor Data (카메라 센서 정보 기반 이미지 클러스터링을 이용한 360 VR 이미지 제작)

  • 360°VR 영상은 카메라에서 촬영된 여러 영상들을 이어 붙이는 작업인 스티칭(Stitching)을 통하여 만들 수 있다. 스티칭은 영상들을 이어 붙이기 위해 각 영상의 특징점을 추출하는 특징점 추출, 특징점간 유사도를 비교하여 유사한 특징점끼리 매칭시키는 특징점 매칭, 특징점 매칭 과정에서 획득한 호모그래피 매트릭스를 이용한 이미지 와핑, 각 영상 간의 부자연스러운 경계선을 제거하는 블렌딩 과정을 거친다. 고품질의 360°VR 영상을 획득하기 위해서는 영상의 개수를 증가시킬 필요가 있고, 이로 인해 스티칭 과정에서 소요되는 시간이 증가한다. 본 논문에서는 카메라 센서 정보를 이용해 유사한 영상끼리 클러스터링하여, 한번에 스티칭이 진행되는 영상의 수를 감소시키고, 멀티 스레드를 이용하여 각 그룹의 스티칭을 병렬적으로 진행한 뒤, 최종적으로 스티칭하여 최종 360°VR 영상을 획득하는 과정을 제안한다.
