Today linear algebra is one of compulsory courses for university mathematics by virtue of its theoretical fundamentals and fruitful applications. Vector theory and matrix theory constitute of main topics in linear algebra. In the present paper we consider the question which of the two topics is prior in teaching of linear algebra. We suggest that vector theory should be prior to matrix theory contrary to the historical order of them.

통계학의 방법론과 이론을 교수 및 연구해온지도 벌써 오랜세월이 지났지만, 한국통계학이 이론적(수리적)인 연구가 정착되지 못한 이유는 여러가지가 있겠지만, 발표자가 지적하였듯이 수리통계 학자들의 궁핍 등의 이유를 들 수 있겠다. 60년대 몇몇 대학만이 통계학과를 운영해 오고 있었으나, 70년대 들어와서 전국 각대학(교)에 통계학과의 설치인가를 받아 활발히 통계학과의 기초를 닦고 있는 현시점에서 앞으로 이론 통계학 분야의 중요성과 필요성을 발표자가 피력함으로써 이론 통계학의 중요성을 재인식시키는데 큰 도움을 줄 것이다. 통계적 이론의 바탕이 발전되어야, 이를 기반을 둔 통계적 방법 및 응용 또한 발전이 따르기 마련이기 때문이다. 추상적인 이론이라 하여, 그것을 우리는 배격할 필요는 없다. 아무리 추상적인 이론이라 할지라도 그 바탕은 간단한 문제에서 출발하고, 그 추상적인 결과 역시 여러 분야에 응용되고 있지 않는가\ulcorner 예를 들면, 수학에 있어서 위상수학은 추상적인 분야라는 사실은 너무나 잘 알고 있다. 이것 또한 수직선을 기초로 두고 생각을 했고, 그 결과 추상적 이론이 수없이 전개되어 오고 있다. 이 추상적인 이론이라 할지라도 물리학, 공학 및 경제학 등에 응용되고 있음은 어느 누구도 부인할 수 없을 것이다. 그러므로 통계학에서 이론 통계분야의 중요성과 필요성을 지적한 점은 그 의의가 크다 하겠다. 이 중요성과 필요성을 재인식함으로써 우리나라의 이론 통계학분야의 사고를 더욱 발전시켜 기초과학으로써의 기반을 튼튼하게 해야할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the identity and relationship of library and information science by exploring theoretical aspects of LIS research, including theory building and theory use. The sample of this study consists of 1,661 research articles published from 1984 to 2003 in two Korean and two American core LIS journals. Theory articles are analyzed with two scales, such as '4-degree of theory efficiency' and '5-degree of theory use' Each article is coded in terms of journal, country, publication year, subfield, and methodology of the article. and affiliation, department, and research experience of the first author. The theories used therein are coded according to their origin and age. Also, an author co-citation technique is applied to represent intellectual structure on a two-dimensional map, which has been constructed by theory use of LIS authors fur 20 years.

Successful Intelligence (SI) developed by R. Sternberg has impacted on various fields such as education and industry, providing with intuitive view-points concerning the definition, nature, and measurement of intelligence. It would be a timely work to review how SI has been progressed, what contributions it made, what it has influenced on intelligence research in Korea, and what the implications of SI for future research are. With that in mind, this review is composed of several sections. First, an overview of the SI's historical development and main characteristics and contributions is presented with three distinct periods: Era of the Componential Theory, of Triarchic Theory, and of Successful Intelligence. Second, Selected researches conducted in Korea based on SI are summarized. Lastly, future research for validation of SI is discussed.

본 논문에서는 지역발전에 관한 다양한 개념이나 이론들(특히 포드주의적 축적체제 이후에 나타난 새로운 축적체제에 대한 논의로서 정치경제학이나 조절이론과 직, 간접적으로 관련된 개념이나 이론들)을 열거하고 이들을 재검토하고자 한다 (한국공간환경학회,2000; 최병두, 2002). 우선 전통적 지역발전론으로 지역 간 균형상태와 발전단계를 강조하는 주류 이론과 지역 간 불균등발전에 초점을 두고 원인을 규명하고자 하는 정치경제학적 이론을 살펴보고, 다음으로 정치경제학의 연장선상에 있지만 부분적으로 주류 (지역)발전론을 결합시킨 중범위 이론으로서 조절이론 또는 (포스트) 포드주의론에 근거한 지역발전론을 검토할 것이다. Education is an intentional change of human behaviors. This change is implemented through the learning process of humans. The principles in the learning process and its psychological mechanism are based on learning theories. The objective insight about how they are related with school libraries as a basic organization supporting school education, what they can contribute and what their research methodologies are is a base for educational and academic research of school libraries. This study at first is to investigate learning and teaching theories for school libraries based on behavioral learning theories, cognitive learning theories and constructive learning theories which are general trends for learning theories. Then it is to introduce new theory 'library-based education approach (LBEA)'as an educational base of school libraries.

Bridgestone사에서는 트럭ㆍ버스용 래디알 타이어 신형상이론인 TCOT를 발표했다. Bridgestone사는 이미 발표한 승용차용 래디알 타이어의 형상이론인 RCOT를 토대로 PCR을 상품화하고 있는데, 최근에 발표한 TCOT는 내구성을 중시한, TBR용으로 확립한 이론이다. Bridgestone사에서는 이 이론을 일본, 미국, 유럽 등 주요국가에 특허를 출원, RCOT와 같이 국제적으로 공식화할 전망이다. 다음에 TCOT이론을 소개한다.

크립대미지이론의 발전을 처음 제시된 단순인장시의 등방성이론으로부터 최근에 제시된 다축응 력상태의 이방성이론에 이르기까지 고찰하여 보았다. 한편 미국과 일본 등지에서의 최근의 연 구방향은 이러한 이론의 응용성과 합리성을 찾기 위하여 다각적인 실험을 진행중이며 보다 정 확하고 완벽한 기계 및 금속공학적인 측면에서의 이론전개에 관심과 노력을 집중하는 추세에 있다.

지난 30년 동안 출산율은 대부분의 국가에서 감소했다. 그리고 전 세계 인구의 절반 이상은 대체수준 이하의 출산력 수준에 이르고 있다. 합계출산율이 1.5 혹은 그 이하의 출산력 수준을 보이는 국가의 수도 계속 증가하고 있다. 저출산의 확산과 함께 합계출산율 1.3 이하를 의미하는 초저출산 현상도 크게 주목받고 있다. 앞으로 저출산이 멈출 것인지, 출산율이 회복될 것인지 혹은 지속적으로 감소할 것인지에 대해서는 아무도 쉽게 답할 수 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 최근 산업국가들이 보여주고 있는 저출산 기조는 상당 기간 지속될 것으로 보는 견해가 일반적이다. 이 글은 저출산 및 초저출산 현상을 어떻게 설명할 것인가에 대한 이론적 논의를 검토하고, 이러한 논의가 한국 사회의 인구학적 변화에 어떤 함의를 지니고 있는가를 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 우선 저출산을 설명하는데 유용한 이론적 틀을 검토하고자 한다. 이들은 제2차 인구변천이론, 합리적 선택이론, 위험이론, 양성평등 이론, 선호이론, 젠더와 시장이론 등을 포함한다. 이를 기반으로 본 연구는 한국사회의 저출산 현상을 설명하는 연구들의 특성과 시사점 등을 검토하고자 한다.

In this review, theoretical approaches of imaging and diffraction in electron microscopy are introduced which allows the diffraction patterns and images to be treated with equal facility and emphasized the relationships between them. The coherent wave optics, incoherent wave imaging theory were introduced. The idea of Abbe theory was also introduced. Varoius phase contrast theories in small angle approximation were derived including the wave theory on Multi-component system.
