  • In this paper, we propose the framework under a standardized task configuration to improve data accuracy and to provide unified system for the outfitting production design in shipyards. Due to the mismatching engineering data, the wrong designs or drawings were produced. With these wrong information, the production process can be broken and faced a big problem during production stage. In this study, we propose novel framework and its components which can offer better supporting for the design task and its process to improve productivity and efficiency with knowledge based engineering support system.

  • This research against the method of applying a traditional design elements to modern interior space is classified and analyzed by direct expression method, a transfigure expression method, a metaphor expression method and a symbol expression method. The direct expression method means the modernizing the traditional design elements by expressing traditional material and structural formative style as they are, and the transfigure expression method is the design method of re-organizing the elements by simplifying and transfiguring the traditional design elements. Metaphor expression method includes the method of expressing visually the formative concept which does not known concretely, and the symbol expression method exchanges the rising concepts into concrete elements and expresses by new design.

  • Korean modern houses should admit modern requirement, Korean climate and way of living. These elements should be expressed through not only plan but also form and design. The aim of this thesis is to understand the expression tendency of the traditional design elements in idyllic houses. For this purpose, I investigated following things : 1) The culture and social theory about the tradition and the design elements. 2) The concept of Korean traditional design elements and factors as the design elements sources. 3) The methods of Korean traditional design elements expressed in idyllic houses. As a result, the methods of traditional reception can be classified as copying, eclecticism and abstraction.

  • For safe mooring and towing between the ship and port, the equipment must be designed in accordance with the relevant international regulations. However, some small shipyards and engineering companies often do not fully comprehend the core contents. Therefore, the international regulations regarding towing and mooring equipment are reviewed and the bollard and chock are newly developed based on the Mooring Equipment Guideline 4 (MEG4) standards. A bollard is a mooring equipment used to fix a mooring rope to the hull. It has two columns and is mostly used in a figure eight pattern knots under the mooring condition. The chock, which is used to change the mooring rope direction coming into the ship from outside, is manufactured using a casting with curvature. The two mooring equipment are widely used in the stern, bow, and mid-side. Owing to the increase in the size of container vessels and LNG ships, the mooring rope load has increased and the safe working load of the mooring equipment must be revised. This study summarizes and examines the results of the allowable stress method obtained using finite element analysis modelling. To consider the mesh size effect, a reasonable criteria was suggested by referring the existing class guidance. Additionally, the safe working load was verified through nonlinear collapse analysis, and the elastic region against load increments was confirmed. Furthermore, the proposed evaluation method can be used to develop similar equipment in the near future.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the architectural design elements of secondary shrines in traditional Buddhist temples in Korea. For this study, a survey of six kinds of secondary shrines (Myemgbujem, Yeongsanjeon, Eungjinjem, Yaksajeoun, Gwaneumjeon, Mireukjeon), according to specified design elements(building sizes, roof styles, Gongpo, Dancheong, shape of Datjip), was conducted. The results of this study are summarized as follows; Myeongbujem is built in every temples(25 examples), most having simila1ities in sizes and architectural elements(roof, Gongpo structure, Dancheong, Datjip). The majority of Yemgsanjeon(l4 examples) and Eungjinjem shrines(l5 examples) are mostly 3-Gan sized buildings, having a Matbaejibung and Ikkmg structural system. Gwaneumjeon, on the other hands, has 1he most elaborate architectural elements. Among 12 cases, 8 buildings have Paljakjibung, 9 buildings have Silk-Dancheong in innerspace, and Datjip are included in six buildings. Yaksajeon shrines are small in mnnber, but most of these shrines have a Dapo structure, and, despite of their size, are designated as cultural properties.

  • The human scale of the interior space of a korean traditional residence is normally user-friendly. And this aspect is reinterpreted and implemented in the modern structure. While our conscious awareness has become greatly westernized through the east-west exchanges, the interior of the traditional Korean residence has always reflected the people and their daily lives of the time. In this study, an attempt has been made to identify the aesthetic characteristics of the inner space elements through the analysis of visual perception inside a Korean traditional upper class residence, kangreung Sunkyojang, designated as the 5th Cultural Information Material with regards to the inherent philosophy and human scale that influenced the emotions of the Korean people. The different parts of the interior space of Anchae, and the Symmetrical of Formal, Balance of the walls give a sense of calmness, and the ornaments are used to give gaiety. The ceiling of Yeolwhadang hall give an energetic feeling and pillare are used to enhance spaciousness. In Whalejeong, by making use of similar and continuous lines, the light and darkness was controlled and the link with nature has been emphasized. Different decorations used reflect scholarly spirit.

  • The Buddhist reliquaries of these 6 Reliquaries(松林寺, 感恩寺, 法門寺, 慶山寺, 唐招提寺, 法隆寺 玉蟲廚子), when compared with those of China, Japan and Korea in the same period, they worshiped the Buddhist reliquary as a Buddhist God itself and put them as a part of the architectural decoration, being installed in the construction forms. In the form and the composition of the architecture, we can see those having been designed with very detailed and brightly decorated form. The Buddhist reliquaries in the Song-Lim-Sa, Kam-Eun-Sa, Famensi, Qingshansi, Toshodaiji, and the Horyuji Tamamushi Zushi, the most important ones in this research, were in the precious tent and the inner and outer Coffins shapes having completely the altar part, interior space part, and the ceiling part, which inform us the whole structure of the architecture in details. After all these researches, we conclude that the Buddhist reliquaries in form of the Treasure-architecture represented the architectural style of the same period as a form of industrial arts and we can see that they tried to use all of their highly skilled and talented methods to describe the Buddhist Pure Land.
