A study on costume designs using Macramé knot - A focused on four major fashion collections between 2011 S/S and 2020 F/W - (마크라메 매듭을 활용한 의상디자인 연구 - 2011년 S/S ~ 2020년 F/W 4대 패션 컬렉션을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to analyze the macramé technique used in costume design based on the cases from 2011 to 2020, when the macramé technique became popular. The research data are the results of analyzing the materials, clothing items, and structural combination of macramé knots by season, year, and collection from 2011 S/S to 2020 F/W, focusing on the four major fashion collections New York, Paris, London, and Milan. Macramé appeared often in the S/S season, and in the 2019 and 2020 S/S seasons, macramé was identified as a keyword for fashion trends based on its frequent usage. Overhand knots were used the most for the types of macramé knots used in costumes, and overhand knots were also used the most in the S/S season and in the New York, Paris, and Milan collections. Rope was the most frequently used material for macramé knots, and it was confirmed that it appeared frequently in 2011 and 2019, and ropes were also used often in the London, Milan, and Paris collections. One-piece appeared the most in the S/S season and F/W season as costume items. In addition, the costumes used as layers in the S/S season appeared most often, and in 2019 and 2020, the layered combination appeared most frequently in London and New York collections. It is judged that macramé appears repeatedly in the S/S season depending on the type of knot and is used as a layered look, making it a decorative element rather than a practical element. This study is expected to help develop modern fashion design by drawing attention to the value of the macramé technique expressed as handcrafted work.

  • This study intends to examine extensively on the current situation where the full capacity of 3D CG is not being highlighted because of the lack of the information and the awareness and to look at how the virtual reality technology is being applied ranging from the design of the clothes to the marketing. A set of processes ranging from the development of the clothing design to the marketing will be performed on the web. Designers will design with 3D CG and make the patterns and will hand this over to the producer together with the virtual swatch. But there are important problems to work out. First, it is the problem of the virtual fitting room. Second, it is the absence of the 3D CG, which is easy and convenient for the clothing design. Third, it is to perfect the visual reconstruction. Fourth, it is the security of the distribution system. Fifth, it also calls for the strengthened internet network that can smooth the flow of the tremendous data. Consumer will be able to produce according to their needs and will become designer and producer at the same time, resulting in the achievement of the consumer-oriented marketing in real sense.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the clothing component information and attributes as the control parameters for the 3D modeling process of the biomorphic clothing sculpture using a parametric methodology. The 3D modeling parameters of biomorphic clothing sculpture were identified as exaggerated silhouette, surface texture, and digital color. The types of exaggerated silhouettes were shoulder and hip exaggeration, shoulder exaggeration, hip exaggeration, vertical exaggeration, and horizontal exaggeration. The types of surface texture were embossed, lacy, furry, and complex textures. The types of digital color were chrome, blur, blend, and acid colors. The characteristics of morphological representation due to the attributes of these control variables were identified as morphological variation, organic morphology, organizational morphology, and realistic morphology. As a result, it was found that the parameter attributes were applied to the biomorphic clothing sculpture parametric design process and developed into various shapes.

  • The relationship between doffing and body has been fixed, deconstructism evoked doubt about not only presence or absence of body but also identity for wear. In the result, meta-body which is beyond the existent body was proposed through deconstruction of body which is main concept for doffing. The decostructive body have an effect on the way of expressions and forms for doffing as well as the rational doffing, and propose various types of body absence in clothing.   • This study was aimed to analyze how images of information society were embodied in contemporary fashion design. To find out images of information society expressed in contemporary fashion design, this paper reviewed the characteristics of information society, and, found out six categories of contemporary fashion design in which the information society was expressed. Cyber environment causes techno style clothing which is characterized by the metallic or lustrous material and mechanical message. And interest in new materials increased significantly. Time-space compression makes the meaning of time and space change, therefore the past, present and future are coexist in the contemporary fashion design. The boundaries has loosed, so, heterogeneous materials and colors are used in fashion design all together. Variety and plurality affect expression of individuality and self-concept. Flexibility increased, so, soft and pliable clothing increased, too. Finally, quality of life is considered as more important value than quantity, so, luxurious look and zen style appear. Also, minimalism which is characterized as simplicity and purity affects the contemporary fashion design.

  • Culture industry is appearing as an important sector of economy. Many kinds of culture industry like movie, music, drama, animation and game are creating enormous wealth all over the world. Fashion is a kind of culture industry too and even sometimes treated as art. Korean fashion is not treated as real culture but still as a part of textile industry. Internationally Korean fashion has not yet much to show, and despite of it's potential it does not attract much interest from other countries. In this paper properties and effects of mulberry handmade paper clothes were investigated with five clothes made of it. In making handmade mulberry paper clothes various techniques could be applied and these techniques could bring new effects. Because mulberry handmade paper does not have little flexibility than ordinary texture, much efforts should be put to the detail works. Handmade mulberry paper clothes have enormous potential as art, because various approach could be applied.

The Study on the Consumer의s Quality Evaluation on the Apparel (의류제품에 대한 소비자의 품질평가 속성)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the consumer's quality evaluation on the apparel of adult males and females. A demonstrative study was conducted using a questionnaire on adults over 20 years old who were considered to afford to purchase clothes. A total of 380 questionnaires were used for the demonstrative analysis. The study used SPSSWIN V.8.0 for the analysis. Frequency analysis, ANOVA, t-test, multiple regression analysis, and duncan test are executed. The study result is as follows: First, 19 attributes of customer quality perception are grouped into 2 categories of satisfier, dissatisfier factor by the role of each attribute. Second, significant differences are found partly in quality indications- including fabric compositions, sizes, fabric care, manufactured-place, and the place of origin, the importance degree of indication and general satisfaction in quality indicating system.

  • Clothing is intimately intertwined with daily lives as every individual relies on it. The pervasive issue of plagiarism in the fashion industry has led to an increased demand to protect intellectual property rights. Currently, studies on the protection of fashion design intellectual property rights in China remain in the exploratory stage and warrant further investigation. This paper addresses the issue in two parts. The first part contains an analysis of the theoretical foundation for the protection of fashion design copyrights. It is further divided into three subsections. The first subsection primarily examines the concept of copyrights and laws. The second subsection focuses on the concept of fashion design copyrights and laws. The third subsection analyzes copyright laws concerning fashion designs in China. The second section offers an analysis of infringement cases involving fashion designs published during the Baiyi Cup Intellectual Property Case Summary Writing Competition held in China in 2023. It outlines the shortcomings of the current Chinese copyright laws regarding the protection of fashion designs, and proposes measures for improvement. This study argues that the institutional framework for intellectual property rights in the Chinese fashion industry should align with practical considerations and explores suitable legal regulations and how they relate to specific circumstances in China. Besides refining the legal framework, fashion designers and enterprises must take measures to entablish the intellectual property rights of their clothing brands.

The Effects of Fashion Design Evaluation Factors on Design Value and Brand Loyalty from the Consumer's Perspective (소비자 관점에서의 패션디자인 평가요소가 디자인 가치 및 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of consumers' fashion design evaluation factors on design value and brand loyalty. After confirming a research hypothesis, 247 people were selected as subjects for empirical analysis, and the results of the study are as follows. As a result of the analysis of 'the influence of consumer's fashion design evaluation factors on design value', the fashion design evaluation factors of 'convenience', 'social activity usefulness' and 'fashion ability' had an effect on the emotional design value. 'Convenience', 'functional usefulness', 'social activity usefulness', 'fashionableness' and 'aesthetic' factors affected the rational design value. 'Convenience', 'fashionableness', 'aesthetic' and 'psychological self-conformity' had a positive (+) effect on kinesthetic design values. As a result of the analysis of 'Influence of consumer's fashion design value on brand loyalty', 'emotional design value', 'rational design value' and 'kinesthetic design value' affect attitude brand loyalty, and 'emotional design value' and 'kinesthetic design value' affect brand loyalty. It was found that 'kinesthetic design value' has an effect on behavioral brand loyalty. As a result of the analysis of 'the effect of consumer attitude brand loyalty on behavioral brand loyalty', it was analyzed that attitude brand loyalty had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on behavioral brand loyalty.
