Characteristics and Trends in the Classifications of Scientific Literacy Definitions (과학적 소양의 정의 분류의 특성 및 경향)

  • This study is to reclassify the classifications or definitions of scientific literacy in scientific literacy researches since 1960s and grasp the classification trends of scientific literacy definitions. Sixteen articles have been selected among the articles that have been introduced in the two articles. Classification criteria are as follows: 1) "be learned," "competence," or "be able to function in society" as meanings of "literate," 2) "terms" or "description" as the ways of representing scientific literacy, 3) "singular structure," "hierarchical structure," or "parallel structure" as the inner structure of scientific literacy definitions. The results of this study are as follows: First, hierarchical structures in scientific literacy have almost always accompanied "terms" representing scientific literacy and also accepted the hierarchy between "be learned" and "competence," but not the definition of scientific literacy as functioning in society. All parallel structures in scientific literacy have accompanied the definition as functioning in society. And singular structure almost always appears in researches based on the views of scientific literacy in relatively recent times. Second, researches who have used "terms" as ways of representing scientific literacy have increased. Based on the results in this study, the meanings of scientific literacy have been emphasized in view of the ability of playing a role in a social context as well as learning and competence these days. To meet this movement in scientific literacy actively, science education community should get out of traditional teaching and learning scientific concepts and give emphasis on application in various context and social role of science learners.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 효과적인 식품정보 분류 체계 구축 및 관리를 위하여 식품정보의 메타데이터를 구축하고자 하는 것이다. 메타데이터는 데이터에 대한 데이터를 의미하며, 데이터의 분류체계, 구조, 내용요약을 함축적 의미로 표현하는 데이터이다. 이러한 메타데이터를 이용하여 식품정보를 체계적으로 분류하여 식품정보 조회, 분석, 활용을 위한 체계를 구축하였고, 식품정보에 대한 접근성을 향상시켰다. 따라서 본 논문을 통하여 식품정책, 식품산업, 식품기술 개발에 효과적인 정보를 제공하여 식품정보의 활용성 증대 및 효과적인 분류를 가능케 하였다.

  • A Semantic Hierarchy of Korean Nouns(SHKN) where Korean nouns are semantically and hierarchically classified is one of the most important things that can provide semantic information concerned with processing the Korean sentences. In this paper. SHKN is constructed in bottom-up method by making use of the definition of a noun in the Korean dictionary. SHKN constructed in this paper is a forest which consist of 43 trees and 2.443 non-terminal nodes and 10.347 terminal nodes. depth of which is 17. The classes of level 1. 2 of SHKN is quite different from the existing structure classified in top-down method. 2 b but the lower classes than level 2 is very objective.

Phytosociological Study of the Forest Vegetation in the Mountainous Areas of the Northern Part, Kyungpook Province using the Methodology of Physiognomy and Numerical Syntaxonomy (상관적 방법과 수리군락분류학적 방법에 의한 경북 북부지방 산지의 삼림식생의 식물사회학적 연구)

  • The forest vegetation in Mts. Ilwol, Chongryang, Milim, Honglim, Yongdung, Agi and 607 m peak of the northen part of Kyungpook province, Korea was classified and described in terms of the physiognomy and numerical syntaxonomy. The forest was divided into the ten communities belonging to the three groups by the species combination of the tree layer based on their dominances. The three groups also were corresponded well with the result of cluster analysis. But the classification by TWINSPAN showed that the vegetation was divided into only two groups for having any ecological senses. A result of DCA was corresponded closely with that of TWINSPAN and explained some environmental factors. From the above results, it is concluded that the classification by the species combination of the tree layer is also applicable to the classification of plant communities. The above results were compared with the existing study results of the ZM phytosociology.

Research on Meaning Constraints of '-Neulago' Using the Sejong Row Corpus (세종 말뭉치를 이용한 '-느라고' 의미 제약 연구)

  • '-느라고'의 후행절 부정 의미 제약에 대하여 연구자들마다 의견을 달리하고 있지만 대부분의 교육 교재는 다수의 연구 내용을 반영하여 '-느라고'의 후행절에 부정 의미 제약이 있다고 제시하고 있다. 하지만 교육 교재에서 후행절에 부정 의미의 제약이 없다는 연구 내용이 배제되어야 한다면 이를 위한 심층적인 논의가 필요하며 타당한 근거가 있음을 밝혀야 한다. 본 연구는 '-느라고'의 후행절 부정 의미 제약에 대해 상반된 주장이 나오게 된 것에 주목하여 실제로 '-느라고'가 후행절 부정 의미 제약을 갖는지, 만약 제약을 갖지 않는다면 그 이유는 무엇인지 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 세종 문어 원시 말뭉치에서 '-느라고'의 문장 1,601개를 추출하고 혹시 있을지 모를 통시적 변화를 제거하기 위해 교육 교재들이 집필된 2000년대의 문장만 선별하여 후행절의 의미를 확인하였다. 그 결과 323개의 문장 중 98개 문장, 33.3%가 후행절에 부정적인 의미를 갖지 않고 있는 것을 확인되었다. 이는 '-느라고'가 단순히 후행절 부정 의미 제약을 갖는다고 할 수 있는 수치가 아니었다. 부정 제약의 범위를 파악하기 위해 문장의 의미를 살펴 목적의 의미를 갖는 '-느라고'와 이유의 의미를 갖는 '-느라고'로 분류하였다. 이렇게 분류한 '-느라고'의 후행절을 다시 분석한 결과 이유의 '-느라고'에서는 후행절 부정 제약이 실현되고 있었지만 목적의 '-느라고'에서는 부정 제약이 발견되지 않았다. 따라서 '-느라고'가 이유와 목적의 의미를 가지며 이유의 '-느라고'로 실현될 때에만 부정 의미 제약을 갖는다는 보다 심층적이고 구체적인 연구 결과 얻어 냈다.

Theoretical Categorization of Meanings of Interaction in Interactive Media (인터랙티브 미디어에 적용되는 인터랙션 의미의 범주화)

  • Interactive media is a buzz word in current creative industry, but many of related fields have different understanding of the meaning of "interaction" in interactive media. This aspect is often the cause of difficulties communication and becomes an obstacle to joint researches. Thus this study attempts to develop a theoretical categorization of the meanings of interaction in interactive media. For this, this study first gathered various interpretations about what is interaction and build a rough classification. Then the classification is supplemented and amended over three times through FGIs of the interactive media related experts. This theoretical categorization is expected to help smooth cross-disciplinary studies and integrated technology development in interactive media.

The Effect of Word Frequency on Noun Definitions (단어빈도가 명사정의하기에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of the present study is to investigate that word frequency has significant influence on noun definitions in Korean. The experimental group was 80 students from Elementary school, Middle school, High school and University. They rated familiarity and wrote definitions for nouns. Noun definitions were analyzed with semantic categories such as "use/purpose," "description," "association/relation," "partial explanation," "explanation," "error," "partial explanation-attribute," "partial explanation-specific class," "partial explanation-nonspecific class," "explanation-specific class," "explanation-nonspecific class." As a result, they showed familiarity for high-frequency nouns. "EXPL" categories that use class terms or critical attributes were used more frequently in definitions of high-frequency nouns compared with low-frequency nouns. They increased with age and errors decreased with age. Word frequency had a significant influence on noun definitions.

  • This paper proposes a classification model for systematical management of resources in educational repositories. A classification scheme should be provided to systematically store and manage, precisely retrieve, and maximize the usability of the resources. However, there is little research result on the classification scheme and classification model for educational repository resources. It causes several issues such as inefficient management of educational resources, incorrect retrieval, and low usability. However, there are different characteristics between the educational resource information and information of the previous fields. Therefore, a novel research on the classification scheme and classification model for the resources in educational repositories is required. To achieve the goal for efficient and easy use of the educational resources, we should manage consistently the resources according to the classification scheme accepting several views. This paper proposes a classification model to systematically manage and increase the usability of the educational resources. In other words, the proposed classification model can manages dynamically the classification scheme for the resources in educational repositories according to various views. To achieve the objectives, we first define a proper classification scheme for the implementation resources based on the classification scheme in relevant scientific technology fields. Especially, we define a novel classification model to dynamically manage the defined classification scheme. The proposed classification scheme and classification model enable more precise and systematic management of implementation resources and also increase the ease of usability.

A Study on the types of PDA Icons and their Communication Capacity (개인용 정보단말기(PDA)에 사용되는 아이콘의 직관적 의미전달능력에 관한 연구)

  • This research categorizes various icons that used in PDAs according to symbolization patterns, operating systems and support for color display. Since different icons vary in communication capacity I executed this research to verify it positively. In result, PDA loons were found to have different intuitive communication capacity according to its functions, symbolization pattern, operating system and use of color. \circled1 Icons which have similar object as ones that are used on desktop computer and icons with accurate, simple expression seems to have higher intuitive communication capacity among the icons categorized by functions. \circled2 Among the icons categorized by symbolization pattern, ones that express the action related to their functions have the highest recognition accuracy and longer delay before recognition. \circled3 Among the icons categorized by operating systems, ones that have concrete expression of object and a number of representation elements have higher recognition accuracy and longer delay before recognition. \circled4 Among the icons categorized by color and grayscale, ones with color have superior communication capacity due to additional stimulation although LCDs in most PDAs have limited color depth.
