Ontology Mapping Composition for Query Transformation on Distributed Environments (분산 환경에서의 쿼리 변환을 위한 온톨로지 매핑 결합)

  • Semantic heterogeneity should be overcome to support automated information sharing process between information systems in ontology-based distributed environments. To do so, traditional approaches have been based on explicit mapping between ontologies from human experts of the domain. However, the manual tasks are very expensive, so that it is difficult to obtain ontology mappings between all possible pairs of information systems. Thereby, in this paper, we propose a system to make the existing mapping information sharable and exchangeable. It means that the proposed system can collect the existing mapping information and aggregate them. Consequently, we can estimate the ontology mappings in an indirect manner. In particular, this paper focuses on query propagation on the distributed networks. Once we have the indirect mapping between systems, the queries can be efficiently transformed to automatically exchange knowledge between heterogeneous information systems.

  • 토픽맵은 RDF에 기반을 둔 OWL과 많은 유사점을 갖지만, 양자는 역사적, 기술적, 의도하는 목적에서 차이가 있다. 토픽맵은 ISO 표준이지만, OWL은 W3C의 온톨로지 개발 표준언어로서 양자는 각각의 제약언어, 데이터 모델, 그리고 일련의 구문들을 별개로 갖는다. 그러나 토픽맵과 OWL 양자는 지식을 표현하는 온톨로지 언어라는 공통적 특성을 가지며, 술어로직에 기반을 두고 있고, XML포맷이기 때문에 상호간에 매핑이 가능하다. 논문의 목적은 토픽맵과 OWL의 메타모델로부터 온톨로지 정보자원의 공유, 교환, 통합에 접근시킨다. 따라서 각각의 메타모델에서 주요 요소를 추출하고, 이들의 의미적인 측면과 구조적인 측면의 요소들의 손실이 발생되지 않도록 매핑을 수행한다.

  • 최근 들어서 생물학, 건설, 토목, 의학, 화학, 항공 등 다양한 과학 분야에서 효율적인 공동 연구를 돕기 위해서 그리드 기반 데이터 통합을 위한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 하지만 각 분야에서 사용하는 이질적인 형식의 데이터를 원활히 통합하는 것은 매우 어려운 문제이다. 이러한 측면에서, XML은 이질적인 시스템 간 데이터 공유의 수단으로서 광범위하게 사용되고 있으나, 데이터를 의미적으로 통합하는데 에는 한계가 있다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해서, 본 논문에서는 그리드 환경에서 XML Schema 에 기반을 둔 이질적인 데이터 소스들을 의미적으로 통합하고 검색하는 방법으로서 RDF/RDFS 기반의 온톨리지 매핑을 통한 통합 검색 방안을 제안한다. 우리가 제안하는 방법은 특히 데이터를 XML Schema를 이용해서 표현하기 때문에 원래 데이터소스에 대한 수정 없이도, XML Schema 기반의 구조적 검색뿐 아니라, 온톨로지 기반의 의미적인 데이터 통합 및 검색을 가능하게 한다. 우리는 이 방법을 토목 분야의 시스템에 적용하여 검증하였다.

An RDB to RDF Mapping System Considering Semantic Relations of RDB Components (관계형 데이터베이스 구성 요소의 의미 관계를 고려한 RDB to RDF 매핑 시스템)

  • For the expansion of the Semantic Web, studies in converting the data stored in the relational database into the ontology are actively in process. Such studies mainly use an RDB to RDF mapping model, the model to map relational database components to RDF components. However, pre-proposed mapping models have got different expression modes and these damage the accessibility and reusability of the users. As a consequence, the necessity of the standardized mapping language was raised and the W3C suggested the R2RML as the standard mapping language for the RDB to RDF model. The R2RML has a characteristic that converts only the relational database schema data to RDF. For the same reasons above, the ontology about the relation data between table name and column name of the relational database cannot be added. In this paper, we propose an RDB to RDF mapping system considering semantic relations of RDB components in order to solve the above issue. The proposed system generates the mapping data by adding the RDFS attribute data into the schema data defined by the R2RML in the relational database. This mapping data converts the data stored in the relational database into RDF which includes the RDFS attribute data. In this paper, we implement the proposed system as a Java-based prototype, perform the experiment which converts the data stored in the relational database into RDF for the comparison evaluation purpose and compare the results against D2RQ, RDBToOnto and Morph. The proposed system expresses semantic relations which has richer converted ontology than any other studies and shows the best performance in data conversion time.

Mapping Schema Design for Medicine Information Retrieval Based on ATC Code (의약 정보검색을 위한 ATC코드기반 매핑 스키마 설계)

  • When using Medical Information Retrieval services, a typical retrieval method is to use the Anatomic Therapyutic Chemical Classification (ATC) code. Traditional ATC code-based medical information retrieval is very useful for single ingredient product retrieval with single ingredient. However, in the case of complex, retrieval errors often occur. The cause of this problem is that ATC code-based retrieval proceeds by pattern matching ATC code.In this work, we design the mapping scheme based on ATC code by analyzing the requirement scenarios for retrieval based on main ingredient in ATC code-based retrieval. the mapping scheme based on ATC is a schema that stores the ATC code of the complex and all the ATC code of the single agent included in the complex. ATC code-based retrieval using this schema retrieves a complex as ingredient of a single ingredient product, thus having higher accuracy than existing methods. the mapping scheme based on ATC is expected to increase the efficiency of doctors' prescription of patients and increase the accuracy of drug safety use services.

  • Many techniques have been proposed for mapping from XML to relations, but most techniques did not negotiate the semantics of XML data. The semantics is important to validate storage, query optimization, modification anomaly in process of schema design. Specially, functional dependencies are an important part of database theory, also it is basis of normalization for relational table in BCNF. This paper propose a new technique that reflect functional dependencies to store relation mapped from XML based on XML Schema. The technique can reduce storage redundancy and can keep up content and structure with constraint described by functional dependencies.

  • The discussion about capacity development (CD) has been spotlighted as significant drivers for sustainable development in recent years. Multi-dimensional natures of capacities would lead to various definitions of CD in international institutes and organizations. CD is perceived as an endogeneous process to improve actionable learning and knowledge, but most of core capacities still remain abstract notion and might be unreliable in sustainable development (SD). The paper first explicates international perspectives of CD in association with SD. An agent-based model is especially proposed to portray more details of CD. It illuminates the role of assets (or capitals, resources) in agents to impact on ingredients of CDs that are drivers or enablers for improvement of SD. A definition of sustainable capacity development is firstly articulated in international society and its conceptual framework is also creatively designed to assist concerned international organizations. The paper concludes by proposing practical spatial asset mapping linking to agent-based organizational capacity as a tool for measuring sustainable capacity development.

  • SAN(Storage Area Network) was developed in response to the requirements of high availability of data, scalable growth, and system performance. In order to use the SAN more efficiently, most of the SAN operating software supports storage virtualization concepts that allow users to view physical storage devices of the SAN as a large volume. A logical volume manager plays a key role in storage virtualization. It realizes the storage virtualization by mapping logical addresses to physical addresses. In this paper, we design and implement an efficient and flexible mapping method for the logical volume manager. Additionally we also design and implement a free space management method for flexible mapping. Our mapping method supports a snapshot that preserves a volume image at certain time and on-line reorganization to allow users to add or remove storage devices to and from the SAN even while the system is running. To justify our mapping method, we compare it with the mapping method of the GFS (Global File System) through various experiments.

  • 본 논문은 P2P기반의 Query Rewriting을 이용한 멀티 에이전트 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템은 Query Rewriting을 이용해 P2P의 이기종간 데이터 의미충돌 문제에 초점을 맞춰 데이터 상호 운용성을 높였다. 그리고 메타데이터 표현에 대한 매커니즘과 P2P 온톨로지 매핑, 그리고 질의응답에 대한 기법을 제시하였다. 또한 MSO(Meta Semantic Ontology)에 매핑을 표현 하기위해 Map을 이용하였고, 로컬 데이터 소스의 이질성을 고려한 Query Rewriting 기법을 제시하였다.

  • Ontology-based approaches for automated information integration are being widely investigated. The existing approaches explicitly represent the semantics of information sources in ontologies and let the computer system, through aligning or merging the source ontologies, provide a global view of information sources. The problem of aligning or merging different ontologies is a well known problem, and the inter-ontology mappings play an essential role in information integration. To enable simple and well-founded mappings , the ontologies of information sources should be modeled with the same world view and with the same manner of representation. This paper introduces an ontology modeling framework for component libraries, which is developed based on the Guarino's theory of upper ontology . This paper discusses the results of modeling ontologies of mold and die component libraries based on the framework. A Web-based implementation automatically merges the source ontologies.
