  • The low- frequency acoustic sensor using the recently developed FBG has an excellent merits which the existing fiber-optic sensor has and also it has an excellent signal sensing effect in the environment of low-frequency($30Hz{\sim}300Hz$). Furthermore, we can expect the utilization of low-frequency signal defection instead of existing microphones in the environment of electric noise and also it can be developed as the high-sensibility multiplexing through the sensor array system.

  • 잠수함이 가장 취약한 시기는 잠수함이 스노클이나 잠망경 운용을 위하여 잠망경 심도로 항해할 경우이며, 이때에는 비음향 탐지센서인 레이더와 광학, 사람에 의한 시각에 탐지될 확률이 매우 높다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 상황에서 탐지되는 취약성을 극복하고자 잠수함 마스트 및 잠망경 부분에 비음향 스텔스를 적용하고자 한다. 먼저 비음향 탐지센서에 대해서 조사하고, 그에 따른 스텔스 기법을 분야별 분석하여 최적화한 결과 다층형 구조로 선체표면부터 RAM layer, IR layer, Camouflage layer 구조로 각각 RAM layer는 자성재료인 페라이트계열로 3~5mm, IR layer는 Ceramic 또는 Nickel 계열로 1~2mm, Camouflage layer는 군청색 계열 페인팅을 제시하였다.

Directivity Characteristics of Non-Linear Array for Wide-Band One-Shot Beamforming (광대역 단일빔형성을 위한 비선형배열의 지향 특성)

  • This paper proposes an algorithm to design the non-linear array so as to form efficiently the one-shot beam with relatively less sensors for acoustic measurement. In this algorithm, according to the spatial sampling theory the part for high frequency(HF) band has equispaced sensor array and the sensor distances below the HF band are decided as a function of number of HF sensors. As the results of the simulations, the mean and variances of directivity index(DI) of non-linear array which has less sensors are similar to those of linear array. and the DI variation for beam steering angle is very small. And the beam width at -2dB point is 6.8°. Thus it is confirmed that the design algorithm for non-linear array which is proposed to have less sensors can be efficiently used in acoustic measurement.

  • 본 논문에서는 초음파 웨이브렛 지연시간을 이용한 초고온 온도 측정법을 기초로 하여, 이 기술을 바탕으로 두 번째 단계인 용융물 온도에서 내구성을 갖는 초음파 센서(UTS : Ultrasonic Temperature Sense)를 설계하여 약 $2300^{\circ}C$까지 실험로 내부의 온도를 측정하고자 한다. 이때 UTS 설계의 중요 인수는 센서 봉 외부 표면과 시스(sheath) 내부 표면의 두 텅스텐 재료가 비접촉 상태로 요구된다. 만약 이들 두 재료가 고온의 상태에서 접촉되면 음향적 분로인 Shunting 현상이 발생한다. 이 현상을 물리적으로 억제하기 위한 센서 설계가 필요하게 되며, 이 센서 설계의 성공 여부의 첫째 요구 조건으로서 센서 내부의 구조적으로 음향 Shunting 현상을 억제하는 기술이 필요로 하게 된다. 이들 센서의 내부 구조에 상호 접촉을 피하기 위해서 작은 공간에 새롭게 구조적 분리가 가능한 텅스텐 재료인 Standoff를 제작하여 설치하였다. 그러나 본 실험에서는 제안된 Standoff적용한 출력 신호의 신호 대 잡음 비는 소량의 개선 가능성을 확인하였으나, 다양한 Standoff의 설계와 제작이 지속적으로 진행되어야 할 것이다.

Wideband adaptive beamforming method using subarrays in acoustic vector sensor linear array (부배열을 이용한 음향벡터센서 선배열의 광대역 적응빔형성기법)

  • In this paper, a wideband adaptive beamforming approach for an acoustic vector sensor linear array is presented. It is a very important issue to estimate the stable covariance matrix for adaptive beamforming. In the conventional wideband adaptive beamforming based on coherent signal-subspace (CSS) processing, the error of bearing estimates is resulted from the focusing matrix estimation and the large number of data snapshot is necessary. To alleviate the estimation error and snapshot deficiency in estimating covariance matrix, the steered covariance matrix method in the pressure sensor is extended to the vector sensor array, and the subarray technique is incorporated. By this technique, more accurate azimuth estimates and a stable covariance matrix can be obtained with a small number of data snapshot. Through simulation, the azimuth estimation performance of the proposed beamforming method and a wideband adaptive beamforming based on CSS processing are assessed.

A channel parameter-based weighting method for performance improvement of underwater acoustic communication system using single vector sensor (단일 벡터센서의 수중음향 통신 시스템 성능 향상을 위한 채널 파라미터 기반 가중 방법)

  • An acoustic vector sensor can simultaneously receive vector quantities, such as particle velocity and acceleration, as well as acoustic pressure at one location, and thus it can be used as a single input multiple output receiver in underwater acoustic communication systems. On the other hand, vector signals received by a single vector sensor have different channel characteristics due to the azimuth angle between the source and receiver and the difference in propagation angle of multipath in each component, producing different communication performances. In this paper, we propose a channel parameter-based weighting method to improve the performance of an acoustic communication system using a single vector sensor. To verify the proposed method, we used communication data collected from the experiment conducted during the KOREX-17 (Korea Reverberation Experiment). For communication demodulation, block-based time reversal technique which is robust against time-varying channels were utilized. Finally, the communication results showed that the effectiveness of the channel parameter-based weighting method for the underwater communication system using a single vector sensor was verified.

An acoustic sensor fault detection method based on root-mean-square crossing-rate analysis for passive sonar systems (수동 소나 시스템을 위한 실효치교차율 분석 기반 음향센서 결함 탐지 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an underwater acoustic sensor fault detection method for passive sonar systems. In general, a passive sonar system displays processed results of array signals obtained from tens of the acoustic sensors as a two-dimensional image such as displays for broadband or narrowband analysis. Since detection result display in the operation software is to display the accumulated result through the array signal processing, it is difficult to determine the possibility where signal may be contaminated by the fault or failure of a single channel sensor. In this paper, accordingly, we propose a detection method based on the analysis of RMSCR (Root Mean Square Crossing-Rate), and the processing techniques for the faulty sensors are analyzed. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the precision of detecting fault sensors is measured by using signals acquired from real array being operated in several coastal areas. Besides, we compare performance of fault processing techniques. From the experiments, it is shown that the proposed method works well in underwater environments with high average RMS, and mute (set to zero) shows the best performance with regard to fault processing techniques.

수중 무인항체를 위한 Vision/INS 통합 항법

  • 수중 무인항체(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, AUV)를 고정밀, 고위험 임무수행 분야에 이용하기 위해서는 연속적이고 정확한 항법정보를 제공하는 기술이 반드시 필요하다. 특히, 최근에는 항공분야에서 국내외적으로 연속적이고 정확한 항법정보를 제공하기 위하여 여러 가지 센서를 결합한 통합 항법시스템에 관한 연구가 활발하며, GPS나 음향장치를 관성센서와 통합하는 방법이 대표적이다. 하지만 수중 무인항체에 경우는 해수면 노출로 인한 탐사시간 장기화와 음향장치 설치 및 회수의 한계로 인하여 GPS나 음향장치 이외에 센서를 이용한 통합 항법시스템의 필요성이 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 자율성이 높으면서, 적은 비용으로 설치가 가능한 영상센서를 이용하여 항법성능을 효과적으로 증대시키는 Vision/INS 통합 항법을 제안한다. 제안한 통합 항법알고리즘은 외부표정요소 직접결정기법을 이용하여 영상 데이터로부터 항체의 위치와 자세를 추정하고, 추정된 결과를 INS의 추정치와 비교한다. 그리고 추정한 위치와 자세오차를 입력으로 칼만필터를 구동하도록 설계하였다. 모의실험을 통해 제안한 방법의 유효성을 확인하였다.

Closed-Loop Power Control for Code Division Multiple Access in Time-Varying Underwater Acoustic Channel (시변 수중 음향 채널에서 코드 분할 다중 접속 방식의 폐루프 전력 제어 기법)

  • Code division multiple access (CDMA) is one of the promising medium access control scheme for underwater acoustic sensor networks due to its beneficial features such as robustness against frequency-selective fading and high frequency-reuse efficiency. In this paper, we design a closed-loop power control scheme for the underwater CDMA, to adapt time-varying acoustic channel. In the proposed scheme, sink node sends to sensor nodes the associated path loss which is acquired by uplink-channel analysis based on received packets from the sensor nodes. Then, sensor nodes adjust their transmission power in an adaptive manner to time-varying underwater acoustic channel, according to the informations sent by the sink node.
