Effect of Tone Colors on Meridians by Yangdorak Diagnosis (음색(音色)이 경락(經絡)의 양도락(良導絡) 수치(數値)에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The aims of this study were to observe how effect bell sound, water sound and drum sound have on origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis, and to practice it clinically. Methods : Firstly, ire measured origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis, after we relieved a subject for 10 minutes. Secondly, we measured origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis, after a subject listened to bell sound, water sound and drum sound for 3 minutes. Results : Through testing the effects of bell sound, water sound and drum sound on numerical values of origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis, we had follows; 1. On bell sound, the numerical values of origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis descended from 38.8 to 28.8 in left, and from 40.4 to 30.8 in right. 2. On water sound, the numerical values of origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis descended from 55.4 to 39.4 in left, and from 56.0 to 41.9 in right. 3. On drum sound, the numerical values of origin regions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis descended from 39.1 to 30.1 in left, and from 38.4 to 38.0 in right. Conclusion : Through testing the effects of tone sounds on numerical values of origin lesions for acupuncture of twelve meridians by yangdorak diagnosis, we confirmed that change of tone colors go by five elemental theory rule and have effect on enery and blood metabolism.

Development of Beat Processing Device for Rhythm Production Assessment (리듬 산출 검사 어플리케이션 Beat Processing Device 개발)

  • The aim of this study was to develop a mobile application 'Beat Processing Device (BPD)' to record and quantify the data for the performance accuracy of rhythm production. BPD has been developed in three phases. First, we reviewed studies that used rhythm as main intervention strategy to improve cognitive functioning of older adults, and derived four basic rhythm idioms. Second, we developed an iOS-based mobile application, optimized the device, the instrument tone, and the measurement variables through preliminary test. Lastly, we tested the mobile application by comparing the performance data obtained from MIDI and BPD from 60 older adults. The device was shown to be reliable and consistent with other mode of measurement and analysis. Conclusively, BPD can be a useful tool for assessing rhythm production ability in the course of cognitive skills training.

  • The scale of financial damages on voice fishing has not been decreased despite of national and social efforts to reduce the amounts of voice fishing damage. One of these reasons is a sophisticated and vernacular speech style that makes it difficult to recognize the offenders. Furthermore, nowadays, young men have intensively been deceived by not only sophisticated and vernacular speech style which is used the employer of real public offices but also obtained personal information. As a result, this lead directly to the financial damages of younger people who has a stronger judgement than older. For this, we investigated the comparison and analysis between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people for identifying voice features. The experiment was carried out based on the pitch, bandwidth of pitch, energy, speech speed and voice color for searching the difference of voice characteristics between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people since 2011. The experimental result shows that there is a significant difference in energy and speech speed between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people.

A Study on Changjak Gukak Composed by the Composers who Majored in Western Music (서양음악전공 작곡가에 의해 작곡된 창작국악작품 연구)

  • This study aims to classify and examine Changjak Gukak composed by composers who majored in Western music and help the composers with the composition of Changjak Gukak. As a result, it was investigated that Korean traditional musical elements have been used on the basis of the traditional or modern Western composition technique. The traditional composition techniques such as motive, theme, keys, homophony, contrapuntal methods, fugue form, sonata form, baroque concerto form and borrowing of Western art works have been used, and the contemporary composition techniques such as timber melody, a-tonality, irregular meter, poly rhythm and aleatory have been used. In addition, it reflects the Korean expression and identity by applying the Korean traditional instruments, Sigimsae, Jangdan, traditional scale and mode, form and melody.

A preliminary study of sound quality evaluation of cochlear implant users (인공와우 사용자의 심리음향적 음질평가 예비연구)

  • Sound quality evaluation is one of the psychoacoustic methods to measure subjective judgements for sound color. The purpose of this study is to investigate sound quality benefits of bimodal users by comparing sound quality scores between bimodal hearing condition and unilateral cochlear implant(CI) condition as a preliminary study. Thirteen bimodal users and seven unilateral CI users were participated in this study. Audiologists performed pure tone and speech audiometry and measured functional gain and real-ear insertion gain. Subjective assessment of sound quality was followed with four sounds including violin sound, male and female voices, and refrigerator noise. Participants judged the sound quality with six sound quality index. Bimodal users showed mean 0.8 points more sound quality improvements in bimodal condition than unilateral CI condition. Group comparison between bimodal and unilateral CI users showed no differences. A follow-up study of sound quality tools and methods should be considered to evaluate subjective bimodal benefits of cochlear implant users.

Sound Source Externalization Algorithm Using Modified HRTFs and an Acoustic Simulation Method (변형된 머리전달 함수 및 음향 시뮬레이션 기법을 이용한 음상 외재화 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents a new sound source externalization algorithm for increasing spaciousness and presence on earphone or headphone environments. To do this, we used modified head related transfer functions (M-HRTFs) and room impulse responses acquired by an acoustic simulation method. M-HRTFs developed by ETRI have less tone color distortion of original sound sources than traditional HRTFs. The acoustic simulation method is used to obtain more natural reflected sound. To verify the proposed externalization algorithm, we performed a listening test. From the test, the proposed algorithm is effective in externalizing the sound sources especially when they are on the left and right sides.

New Automatic Taxonomy Generation Algorithm for the Audio Genre Classification (음악 장르 분류를 위한 새로운 자동 Taxonomy 구축 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new automatic taxonomy generation algorithm for the audio genre classification. The proposed algorithm automatically generates hierarchical taxonomy based on the estimated classification accuracy at all possible nodes. The estimation of classification accuracy in the proposed algorithm is conducted by applying the training data to classifier using k-fold cross validation. Subsequent classification accuracy is then to be tested at every node which consists of two clusters by applying one-versus-one support vector machine. In order to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm, we extracted various features which represent characteristics such as timbre, rhythm, pitch and so on. Then, we investigated classification performance using the proposed algorithm and previous flat classifiers. The classification accuracy reaches to 89 percent with proposed scheme, which is 5 to 25 percent higher than the previous flat classification methods. Using low-dimensional feature vectors, in particular, it is 10 to 25 percent higher than previous algorithms for classification experiments.

Amplitude Panning Algorithm for Virtual Sound Source Rendering in the Multichannel Loudspeaker System (다채널 스피커 환경에서 가상 음원을 생성하기 위한 레벨 패닝 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we proposes the virtual sound source panning algorithm in the multichannel system. Recently, High-definition (HD) and Ultrahigh-definition (UHD) video formats are accepted for the multimedia applications and they provide the high-quality resolution pixels and the wider view angle. The audio format also needs to generate the wider sound field and more immersive sound effects. However, the conventional stereo system cannot satisfy the desired sound quality in the latest multimedia system. Therefore, the various multichannel systems that can make more improved sound field generation are proposed. In the mutichannel system, the conventional panning algorithms have acoustic problems about directivity and timbre of the virtual sound source. To solve these problems in the arbitrary positioned multichannel loudspeaker system, we proposed the virtual sound source panning algorithm using multiple vectors base nonnegative amplitude panning gains. The proposed algorithm can be easily controlled by the gain control function to generate an accurate localization of the virtual sound source and also it is available for the both symmetric and asymmetric loudspeakers format. Its performance of sound localization is evaluated by subjective tests comparing with conventional amplitude panning algorithms, e.g. VBAP and MDAP, in the symmetric and asymmetric formats.

A Study on the Musical Activities and Musical Preference according to Coping Strategy of University Students (대학생의 스트레스 대처전략에 따른 음악활동과 음악선호 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the musical activities and musical preference according to coping strategy of university students. The survey was conducted to 200 students and the data of 168 was analysed. The results of the research are as follows. First, the number of problem-solving coping was the highest, and the number of emotional-alleviate coping was the lowest. And coping strategy between male and female student showed a significant difference. Second, music listening was the most preferred activity. There was a significant difference in the most preferred activity between male and female students, also between active and inactive coping strategy. However, the most doing activity between music major students and non-music major students showed a significant difference. In addition, there was a significant differences in the purpose of playing instruments between male and female students and among academic year. Third, Korean-pop was the most preferred genre. Result showed a significant difference in preferred musical elements between male and female students. There were genre, melody, loudness, and theme of lyric. Meanwhile, preferred musical elements between active and inactive coping strategy showed a statistical differences. There were rhythm, timbre, and medium of listening. Finally, there were statistical differences in the preferred harmony and familiarity between music major students and non-music major students.

Minimally Invasive Technique for Thyroidectomy ; A Modification of the Conventional Thyoidectomy Technique (최소침습 갑상선 수술법 :전통적 갑상선 수술법의 변형술식)

  • 배경 및 목적: Theodor Kocker에 의해 일반화된 전통적인 갑상선 수술방법은 갑상선 질환의 종류 및 정도, 수술범위와 상관없이 광범위한 수술범위로 인한 조직 손상으로 인해 수술후 환자들의 여러가지 불편감은 물론 경부의 넓은 부위의 통증과 경부 피부부종, 장액종, 혈종 등과 같은 후유증을 동반할 수 있다. 최근 본 저자들은 이같은 전통적 갑상선 수술의 부작용을 최소화하기 위해 작은 피부절개($3{\sim}4.5cm$) 후 피하 피판(subplatysmal skin flap) 없이 직접 갑상선으로 접근하는 새로운 수술기법으로서 최소침습 갑상선 수술기법을 개발하였기에 그 술식을 소개하고 전통적인 갑상선 절제술에 대한 우월성을 확인하고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1999년 1월 15일 부터 2000년 1월 14일까지 573예의 갑상선 수술 예 중 최소침습 갑상선절제술이 시행되었던 466예와 1998년 1월 15일부터 1999년 1월 14일까지 전통적 갑상선 수술을 시행한 549예 중 거대 종양(양성>6cm, 악성>5cm), 흉골하 선종, 국소진행암, 재발암, 측경부의 다발성 림프절 전이가 있었던 112예를 제외한 437예의 임상병리적 특성과 피부절개 길이, 수술 시간, 수술중 출혈양, 수술후 진통제 요구빈도 및 재윈기간, 수술 후 합병증 발생빈도를 비교 분석하였다. 결 과: 두 군간의 임상병리적 특성상의 유의한 차이는 없었다. 피부절개 길이($3.7{\pm}0.7cm,\;vs\;9.6{\pm}3.3cm$), 수술 시간($57.6{\pm}11.7$분 vs $85.2{\pm}32.3$분) 수술 중 출혈양($18.4{\pm}15.3ml\;vs\;43.1{\pm}21.8ml$), 수술후 재원기간($1.6{\pm}0.5$일 vs $4.3{\pm}1.6$일), 및 수술후 진통제 요구빈도가 전통적 수술군에 비해 최소침습 수술군에서 통계적으로 유의하게 감소되었으나(p<0.05), 수술후 장액종 및 혈종 형성, 일시적인 음색변화, 일시적인 저칼슘혈증과 같은 합병증의 발생빈도는 각각 4.3%(n=20)와 4.8%(n=21)로 두 군간에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결 론: 최소침습 갑상선 수술법은 새로운 수술기구의 도입 없이도 갑상선 수술의 충분한 시야를 확보할 수 있고 안전하고 간단하게 시행할 수 있으며, 기존 수술법으로 인한 부작용을 최소화할 수 있어 전통적 인 수술법을 대치할 수 있는 새로운 방법으로 사료된다.
