Antimicrobial activity of sophorolipid biosurfactant

  • Sophorolipid, a biosurfactant produced from Candida bombicola ATCC 22214. showed antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis. Staphylococcus xylosus, Streptococcus mutans, and Propionibacterium acne at 4, 1, 1, 0.5 ppm as MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration). Also 100ppm of sophorolipid inhibited 50% of cell growth of plant pathogenic fungus. Botrytis cinerea. However, sophorolipid showed no effect on the Escherichia coli, indicating its selective antimicrobial activity depending on the cell wall structure. Treatment of B. subtilis with sophorolipid increased the leakage of intracellular enzyme, malate dehydrogenase, indicating the possible interaction of sophorolipid with cellular membrane. Between lactone-type and acid-type sophorolipid, the former showed higher antimicrobial activity.

  • Chayacterlstics of the sophorolipid produced from Candida bombiocola were investigated as an emulsifier of oil, a detergent or as a dispersant. Improved emulsification of crude oil was observed at high temperature ($70^{\circ}C$) with less than 1% concentration. Sophorolipid solution produced little foam even at reduced surface tension, however performance as a detergent of soiled cloths was poor. Dispersing and stabilizing abilities of sophorolipid solution were proved to be superior to those of chemical dispersants when examined by dispersing $Fe_2O_3$ or carbon black powders.

  • Effects of nitrogen souses and C/N ratio were investigated on the production of extracellular microbial surfaclant, sophorolipid, from C. bombiocola. Organic nitrogen sources, such as urea, peptone and yeast extract was found to be more effective for sophorolipid production, than inorganic nitrogen sources. Depending on the nitrogen sources, sophorolipid production pattern varied by increasing C/N ratio. Increased production of sophrolipid could be obtained up to 90g/L by feeding carbon source again 2 days after cultivation.

  • 과거 밀리미터파는 군사용이나 국간 중계와 같은 제한적인 고정 통신용으로 사용되어 왔다. 이러한 제한적인 활용의 원인은 표준의 부재로 인한 장비 호환성 부족, 전파의 직진성, 고가의 시스템 가격, 새로운 활용 분야 개척 미흡에 있다고 하겠다. 고정 통신 분야에서는 IEEE 802.16에서 표준화가 완료되고, 밀리미터파 차량 충돌 방지 레이다, 밀리미터파 WPAN 등 새로운 활용 분야가 개척됨에 따라 시스템의 가격이 밀리미터파 이용 활성화의 관건이 되고 있으며, 특히 소형화에 의한 개인용 기기에의 응용을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 적층 구조의 유전체 기판을 사용하는 LTCC 기술을 밀리미터파대에 적용하여 밀리미터파 송수신 시스템을 저가격화, 소형화하는 기술의 개발 현황에 대해 기술하였다.

Characteristics of Organic Acid Degradation by Yeast (고농도 유기산폐수의 효모에 의한 분해연구)

  • Characteristics of organic acid degradation by isolated yeast strain was investigated. Optimum initial pH was 5. Increase in cell mass was proportional to the decrease in organic acid degradation. Also no accumulation of byproduct was observed during degradation. Acetic acid degraded fast, followed by butyric acid and propionic acid in order. No significant substrate inhibition was observed up to 12 g/L of acetic acid 7 g/L of propionic acid, respectively. However, inhibition of butyric acid was significant above 4 g/L. Cell mass yield was 0.2-0.4 g cell/g acids and decreased at high decreased at high organic acid concentration. 95% of organic acid (7.5 g/L), corresponding to 13,000 ppm, was degraded in 30-40 hours.

  • Characteristics of S-acid and its derivatives, as biosurfactants, were investigated. Sodium salt of S-acid(S-lNa) effectively decreased the surface tension to near 30 dyne/cm and showed superior dispersing ability than commercial surfactants such as SDS and Tween 80. The emulsion made by S-lNa could be maintained even with increased concentration of calcium ion. Also the penetratlng ability of S-lNa was observed as effective as that of LAS. All derivatives of S-acid were degraded by microorganisms much faster than conventional surfactants. Among the derivatives, S-3Na prevented rust formation as effectively as commercial anti-rust agents did.

  • Using double-measurmented gravity values which observed by Lacoste instrument, drifts and MSE are analized after TIDE correction and Bouguer reduction is investigation. As the result of this study, it is possible to calculation a latitude, longitude, gravity and elevation at unknown point, and perphaps will be used as a fundamental data for application in the earth's crust structural analysis and geophysics.

수치해석을 이용한 화학제주입탱크의 주입시간 특성분석

  • 원자력발전소 운전시 원자로냉각재는 부식 방지를 위해 적절한 화학물질을 함유하고 있어야한다. 이러한 원자로냉각재의 수질화학 조절은 유량조절 기능과 화학제주입 기능을 가진 화학 및 체적제어계통의 화학제주입탱크 및 체적제어탱크에 의하여 이루어진다. 본 연구에서는 영광5,6호기에서 화학제주입계통의 연결위치를 충전펌프 후단에서 전단으로 변경하고, 원자로보충수펌프에 의하여 화학제주입을 수행할 경우 요구되는 주입운전시간 특성에 대해 수치해석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석은 설계요건에서 요구되는 화학제주입탱크의 용량 및 주입유량을 고정하고 탱크의 구조적형상 변경, disk block 설치 및 주입속도를 변경(입구배관 크기 변경)하여 각각의 경우에 대하여 시간변화에 대한 탱크 내에서의 유속분포, 농도분포, 평균농도 등 을 구하였다. 분석결과 발전소의 빠른 화학제주입운전을 위해서는 탱크 내에 혼합효과를 중대 시킬 수 있는 disk block의 설치가 요구됨을 알 수 있었다.

  • Photovoltaic solar energy policy in the keynote of the world in the development of new technologies in terms of renewable energy sources has been a great interest. Terrestrial solar systems installed under the same conditions and solar radiation, power, module temperature, ambient temperature and analyzed.   • In this paper, adaptive speed sensorless vector control, sliding mode observer to be present. Adaptive sliding mode observer of the motor stator coordinate system using the voltage equations of the rotor flux components are observed. Lyapunov function of the induction motor speed is estimated by the relationship further. In order to establish such a control scheme based on the way conventional PI controller and sliding mode observer annexing characteristics of the system through simulation and experiment were compared. Analyzed and compared according to the results presented confirmed the usefulness of the system.
