  • 선박 원격제어를 위해서는 원격 제어자가 선박의 운항상태를 파악하고 필요한 제어 명령을 원격으로 내릴 수 있어야 한다. 연구 목적은 선박 원격제어를 위해 교환되는 데이터를 효율적으로 처리하는 시스템을 개발하기 위함이다. 연구 방법은, 선박 운항상태 파악과 제어 명령 전달에 필요한 시스템을 분야별로 구성하고 해당 시스템을 활용하여 선박을 운항하면서 단위시스템별 활용성을 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 선박 운항 시뮬레이터와 네트워크로 연결하여 실제 선박을 대체하여 활용하였다. 연구결과, 육상제어시스템-선박 간 네트워크를 통하여 교환되는 데이터의 통신방식은 상황에 따라 달라져야 한다는 결과를 도출하였다.

  • 이동 가입자에게 통신 서비스를 제공하기 위한 공중 육상이동 통신망은 SS No.7 공통선 신호망을 이용하여 이동 통신망 구성요소 (HLR, VLR, MSC 등) 들을 연결시킨다. HLR, VLR 등은 SS No.7 에서 신호점의 형태로 구현되며 이러한 신호점들은 신호 메시지 중계기능을 갖는 신호 전달점과 신호 메시지 전송기능을 갖는 신호링크를 통하여 메시지를 서로 교환한다. 신호 메시지 전송시 신호링크의 혼잡상태로 인한 트래픽 상의 문제가 발생할 수 있으며 이의 해결을 위한 트래픽 제어방법이 필요하게 된다. SS No.7은 고유의 레벨-3 트래픽 제어 방법(Congestion Control Scheme)을 이용하여 신호 링크 혼잡시 신호 메시지 발신 신호점을 제어한다.

  • Land shrimp farms can control the growth environment more stably than coastal ones, making them advantageous for high-quality, large-scale production. In order to maintain an optimal shrimp growth environment, various factors such as water circulation, maintaining appropriate water temperature, oxygen supply, and feed supply must be managed. In particular, failure to properly manage water quality can lead to the death of shrimp, making it difficult to have people stationed at the farm 24 hours a day to continuously manage them. In this paper, to solve this problem, we design an integrated monitoring system for land farms that can be operated with minimal manpower. The proposed design plan uses IoT technology to collect real-time images of land farms, pump status, water quality data, and energy usage and transmit them to the server. Through web interfaces and smartphone apps, administrators can check the status of the farm stored on the server anytime, anywhere in real time and take necessary measures. Therefore, it is possible to significantly reduce field work hours without the need for managers to reside in the farm.

  • With the technological innovation owing to the 4th industrial revolution, the maritime transportation is rapidly being developed with autonomous ships and systems. Particularly, autonomous ships will partially replace the manned ships and navigation among them remotely upon the degree of autonomy suggested by IMO. Accordingly, the remote operator and related research have increased as well. However, the data on the minimum required manpower for remote operators are lacking such as considering engage required situations and their co-occurrence probability. Therefore, this study proposes a simulation model that calculates the number of remote engage required situations by defining restricted water area and remote engage required situation as close-quarter situations based on accumulated trajectory data of actual ships. The findings are expected to be used as background materials to establish the appropriate manpower distribution of remote operators in remote operation centers.

The Influence of Smartphone Use on Marine Traffic Safety (스마트폰 사용이 선박통항안전에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Lately, Internet-based vessels have begun to appear at sea with the development of ICT. Thereby crews have gained easy Internet access through increased smartphone portability. However, the side effects of smartphone use while on watch, have not been studied seriously despite being a reality. In this study, simulation experiments were carried out using a Ship Handling Simulator in order to distinguish the risks of using a smartphone while on watch. Proximity Evaluation, Control Evaluation, Subjective Evaluation and Situation Awareness to the dangerous situation were used to quantify risk during simulation, and analysis results were compared with cases when using and not using a smartphone. It was found that the degree of risk increased between 1.3 to 3 times given smartphone use. Consequently, this paper represents foundation for the restriction of smartphone use and proposes smartphone usage guideline for ship navigation.

  • Recently, with the worldwide development of the fourth industry, the development of technologies for smart and eco-friendly ships is accelerating. With the emergence of autonomous vessels with complete unmanned or minimum personnel on board and eco-friendly fuel (methane, ammonia, electricity, etc.), the role of existing seafarers on board is expected to change significantly. To improve the competitiveness of seafarers in the future, predicting future seafarer occupation groups, improving the educational curriculum, and creating an educational system are necessary. In this study, eight occupational groups that seafarers may have in the future were derived through a review of earlier studies and brainstorming of maritime university students, incumbent seafarers and expert groups. A survey was conducted on the eight occupational groups using the Likert scale, and based on the results, a leading occupational group related to future seafarer was derived. The most likely occupational groups with high scores were remote control centre operators and cargo remote manager. In addition, essential educational elements to be educated first for these occupational groups were derived and presented.
