In this paper, we propose an approach to design a practical filter and a mathematical modeling for images. In the areas of signal processing, including high-dimensional image processing, the filtering process has been fundamental and crucial in diverse practical applications such as image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition. In general, the ideal filter is modeled as circular-shaped in the 2D frequency domain as the rectangular shape is ideal for the 1D frequency domain. This paper proposes an approach to modeling practical and efficient image filter in the 2D frequency domain. Instead of employing a circular-shaped filter, this study proposes a polygon-shaped filter inspired by the concept of a hexagon cellular system for frequency reuse in wireless communication systems. By employing the concept of frequency reuse, bandwidth efficiency is also achieved in the frequency domain. To substantiate the proposed approach, quantitative evaluation is performed using PSNR.

The 5G communication system employs the millimeter wave with the extremely high frequency. Since the high frequency signal has the strong straightness, the beamforming technology based on the multiple base stations is required for services covering wide range. The beamformer needs the angle-of-arrival(AOA) information of the signal incident to the antenna, and it is generally estimated through the high resolution AOA estimation algorithm such as Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) or Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariacne Technique (ESPRIT). Although various antenna array shapes can be employed for the beamformer, a single shape (square, circle, or hexagonal) is typically utilized. In this paper, we introduce a transmitting/receiving beamforming system based on the combined array antenna with square and circular shapes, which is proper to various frequency signals, and evaluate its performance. For evaluating the performance of the proposed beamforming system based on the combined array antenna, we implement the computer simulation employing various scenarios.
Jeongeup Pungnyu, which can be regarded as a foundation of Hyangje Julpungryu(;string ensemble in Honam Area) best reflects social-spatial characteristics of local Pungryu culture. The close relationship between Daepungryu(wind ensemble) and Julpungryu can be inferred from three points of view. First, Jeongeumun who participated as a musician in the beginning of Hyangje Julpungryu was good at not only performing musical instrument but also dancing. Jeongeumun did not stay in specific musical field. He performed Hyangje Julpungryu, made Daepungryu and used it as dancing music with musicians that participated in Julpungryu. That is why Julpungryu and Daepungryu are not completely separated music. Secondly, according to , Jung Hyungin, who followed the dance of Jeong Jae-Sun with Kim So-Ran, was the first Piri player who learned from Jeongeumun and played Yeongsanhoesang and Samhyeon-yukkak(;wind ensemble). That is, Jeongeup Julpungryu was formed by Jeongeumun and dancer Jung Hyung-in followed Julpungryu and Daepungryu. Based on these findings, it can be inferred that Jeongeup's Daepungryu is fundamentally closely related to Jungeup Julpungryu.

The ballast layers play a key role in distributing and supporting a trainload. On the other hand, it settles down by dynamic train loading due to large void ratios. Consequently, it requires continuous maintenance. In this paper, ballast layers mixed with three types of specially shaped artificial ballast (AB) (Rectangular, Tetrapod, Hexagonal) were modeled by using a two dimensional DEM (Discrete Element Method). Repeated loading tests were performed to evaluate the settlement behavior of the ballast layers. The smallest settlement was observed in the case of the ballast layer mixed with Tetrapod AB than in other cases, according to an analysis of the force transfer routes. In addition, contact force analysis showed that the Tetrapod AB, which has a concave shape, could easily make small and multi-channel force-transfer routes. This means that the stress in the ballast layer by the train loading transferred through the sleeper uniformly was distributed well by the AB. Therefore, the settlement of the ballast layer mixed with the concave-shaped Tetrapod AB could be reduced effectively under a repeated train loading. The effects of a decrease in settlement of the ballast layer highlight the possibility of a maintenance-free ballasted track.

We report on the growth and characterization of nano and micro scale GaN structures selectively grown on the vertex of hexagonal GaN pyramids. $SiO_2$ near the vertex of hexagonal GaN pyramids was removed by optimized photolithgraphy process and followed by a selective growth of nano and micro scale GaN structures by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). The pyramidal GaN nano and micro structures which have crystal facets of semi-polar {1-101} facets were formed only on the vertex of GaN pyramids and the size of the selectively grown nano and micro GaN structures was easily controlled by growth time. As a result of TEM measurement, Reduction of threading dislocation density was conformed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in the selectively grown nano and micro GaN structures. However, stacking faults were newly developed near the edge of $SiO_2$ film because of the roughness and nonuniformity in thickness of the $SiO_2$ film.

Electrode contact resistance is a crucial factor in physiological measurements and can be an accuracy limiting factor to perform electrical impedance measurements. The electrical bio-impedance values can be calculated by the conductivity and permittivity of underlying tissue using implant electrode in human skin. In this study we focus on detecting physiological changes in the human skin layers such as the sebum layer, stratum corneum layer, epidermis layer, dermis layer, subcutaneous fat and muscle. The aim of this paper is to obtain optimal design for implantable electrode at subcutaneous fat layer through the simulation by finite element methods(FEM). This is achieved by evaluating FEM simulations geometrically for different electrodes in length(50 mm, 70 mm), in shape(rectangle, round square, sexangle column), in material(gold) and in depth(22.325 mm) based on the information coming from the subcutaneous fat layer. In bio-impedance measurement experiments, according to electrode shapes and applied voltage, we have ascertained that there was the highest difference of bio-impedance in subcutaneous fat layer. The methodology of simulation can be extended to account for different electrode designs as well as more physical phenomena that are relevant to electrical impedance measurements of skin and their interpretation.
The purpose of this study is to optimize a parallel-hole collimator for small gamma camera having the pixellated crystal array and evaluate the effect of crystal-collimator misalignment on the image quality using a simulation tool GATE (Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission). The spatial resolution and sensitivity were measured for the various size of hexagonal-hole and matched square-hole collimators with a Tc-99m point source and the uniformity of flood image was estimated as a function of the angle between crystal array and collimator by misalignment. The results showed that the spatial resolution and sensitivity were greatly improved by using the matched collimator and the uniformity was reduced by crystal-collimator misalignment.
Purpose: This study is aimed to assess changes of stress distribution dependent on different connection lengths and placement of the fixture top relative to the ridge crest. Materials and methods: The internal-conical connection implant which has a hexagonal anti-rotation index was used for FEM analysis on stress distribution in accordance with connection length of fixture-abutment. Different connection lengths of 2.5 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4.5 mm were designed respectively with the top of the fixture flush with residual ridge crest level, or 2 mm above. Therefore, a total of 6 models were made for the FEM analysis. The load was 170 N and 30-degree tilted. Results: In all cases, the maximum von Mises stress was located adjacent to the top portion of the fixture and ridge crest in the bone. The longer the connection length was, the lower the maximum von Mises stress was in the fixture, abutment, screw and bone. The reduction rate of the maximum von Mises stress depending on increased connection length was greater in the case of the fixture top at 2 mm above the ridge crest versus flush with the ridge crest. Conclusion: It was found that the longer the connection length, the lower the maximum von Mises stress appears. Furthermore, it will help prevent mechanical or biological complications of implants.

In this study the suction pressure was measured with respect to operational time by submersing the multi-bore capillary membrane module in membrane bioreactor(MBR). The hexagonal shape capillary module which has the nominal pore size of 0.2 ㎛, outer diameter of 6.4 or 4.2 mm was immersed in MLSS 8,000 mg/L active sludge aqueous solution, and confirmed changes with respect to permeation flux and air flow rate. It was operated by the filtration/relaxation(FR), FR with backwashing(FR/BW), and sinusoidal flux continuous operation(SFCO) modes. The suction pressure for the SFCO and FR modes was lower at 30 and 50 L/m2·hr, respectively. In addition, the suction pressure of the module with a small outer diameter was relatively low. The suction pressure of a large outer diameter was greatly increased, but it could be reduced by more than 40% by backwashing.

Emerald ($3BeO{\cdot}Al_2O_3{\cdot}6SiO_2:Cr^{3+}$) single crystal was grown by temperature gradient reflux method with using Korean natural beryl. The flux of lithium-molibudenium-vanadium oxide system was made by means of mixing the 2 sort of flux which were differently melted $Mo_3-Li_2O$ and $V_2O_5-Li_2O$ each other. The optimum composition of flux was 3 mole ratio of molibudenium. vanadium oxides to lithium oxide ($(MoO_3+V_2O_5)/Li_2O$), flux additives were substituted more less then 0.2 mole% of $K_2O$ or $Na_2O$ to the $Li_2O$ amount. The melting concentration of mixing beryl material was 3~10% content to the flux, that of $Cr_2O_3$ color dopant was 1% to the beryl amount. In the crystal growing apparatus with temperature gradient in the 3 zone furnace which was separated into the block of melt, growth and return, the solution have got to circulate continuously between $1100^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$ in steady state. When thermal fluctuation was treated to during 2 hrs once on a day at 950~$1000^{\circ}C$ in growth zone, the supersaturation solution was maintained, controled and emerald single crystal can be grown large crystal which was prevented from the nucleation of microcrystallite. The preferencial growth direction of hexagonal columnar emerald single crystal was the c(0001) plane of botton side and vertical to the m(1010) plane of post side.
