Development of Flood Inundation Analysis System for Urban Areas using GIS (GIS를 이용한 도시유역 홍수침수 분석시스템 구축)

  • Flood inundation analysis system using GIS has been developed to simulate inundation in airport drainage areas. The model developed in this study has been synthetically presented and constructed the preprocess for database construction and input data preparing through a graphic user interface, GUI system and the postprocess processing graphically output resulted in mainprocess analysis model linked GIS(ArcView/Avenue). The mainprocess analysis model was simulated in real phenomenon caused by inflow of storm sewer system by simulation flooding due to backwater effect and surcharged flow in storm sewer system by simulating interaction coupling the overland flow analysis model and storm sewer system analysis model. In the future, the flood inundation analysis system developed in this study will be a great contribution to systematic decision-making for establishing the flood-mitigation management and facilities improvement plan to flooding damage in airport.

Cost Analysis of Ocean Outfall and Tertiary Treatment Processes in Suyong Sewage Treatment Plant (수영 하수처리장 방류수의 해중 방류법과 3차 처리시설 설치시 비용 비교 분석)

  • Sewage has been almost treated by secondary treatment process. Secondary-treated effluent of sewage treatment plant caused the pollution of nearby beach. Nitrogen(N) and Phosphorus(P) in effluent water have caused many problems on estuary, such as red tide, eutrophication and aquatic toxicity. Therefore, the effective nitrogen and phosphorus removal from sewage treatment plants is necessary to prevent those pollution problems. However, little sewage treatment plant in Korea is effectively being operated for the removal of the nutrients. This study is analyzed for the effectiveness of cost when tertiary treatment process and Ocean Outfall are applied for the water quality of Suyong Bay After secondary treatment process, the effluent was discharged from the seabed in the depth of 32m of 4000m offshore. Pollutant concentration is decreased as much as the 180 times after the result of initial dilution, so that environmental protection requirement of Suyong Bay can satisfied. This Ocean Outfall process can save the 2.6~3.5 times as much as the cost of construction and operation for tertiary treatment process running over a 20 year.

  • 낙동강 하구의 지형변화를 포함한 제 해양환경은 낙동강 하굿둑이 건설된 1987년 7월 이후로 분기된다. 즉, 낙동강 하굿둑이 건설되기 전에는 낙동강의 작은 하상구배로 담수와 해수가 혼합되는 구역이 현재의 하굿둑 보다 상류에 위치하였으나 하굿둑 건설 이후에는 하굿둑 수문 조작에 따라 방류되는 유출수에 의해 유동 양상이 변화되기에, 낙동강 하굿둑의 방류량을 파악하는 것은 매우 중요하다 하겠다. 이에 본 연구에서는 낙동강 하굿둑 제원, 방류패턴, 하굿둑 주변 강수량, 하굿둑 방류량을 분석하였다. 또한, 낙동강 하굿둑 방류량에 의한 유사량 분석을 수행하여, 낙동강 하류역의 지형변동의 기초자료를 제공하였다. 연구결과, 낙동강 하굿둑 방류량은 최근 13년 동안의 연평균방류량은 $19,274.56{\times}106m^3$이고 일평균 방류량은 $52.81{\times}106m^3$이고 초당평균 방류량은 $611.19m^3$으로 산정되었다. 낙동강 하굿둑 건설 이후 퇴사량과 준설량을 근거하여 계산된 연간 평균 총유사량은 $3,184,405m^3/yr$이고, 낙동강 하굿둑의 경우 연평균 부유사량이 $3,153,995m^3/yr$, 소류사량이 $30,410m^3/yr$이며 소유사량이 부유사량의 약 1.0%로 나타났다.

  • The low-cost REID system is expected to be widely used in the ubiquitous computing environment as an intelligent device. Although REID systems have several advantages, they may create new threats to users' privacy. In this paper, a traceable and unlinkable REID system called 'Fair EPC system' is proposed for low-cost RFID tags. The proposed system enables the protection of users' privacy from unwanted scanning, and it is traceable to the tag by authorized administrators when necessary. The proposed system has some advantages; (1) eliminating any danger of exposing users' information via tag tracking through the cooperation between readers or back-end databases, (2) enabling the tracking of real serial number of the tag only through the cooperation of authorized administrators using a cryptographic secret sharing scheme, and (3) providing the efficiency of the proposed system reduce the computational workloads of back-end databases.

  • Despite the widespread use of GIS over the past ten years, it has been limited application for regional modeling of pollutant loadings such as sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus(non-point source pollution), The goals of this study were to: select important processes and parameters of watersheds that contribute to non-point source pollution degradation, develop a ranking model to use the environmental geologic data and verify the model by comparing results with existing water quality data(Chung-ju Lake) for specific watersheds, The GIS database consisted of topography, geology, soils, precipitation, rainfall erosivity, land use, and watershed boundaries. The index(NPSP) for assessing non-point source pollution was comprised in the following three seperate components: soil loss index(SLI) assesses the potential soil erosion and sedim-ent delivery from field to stream; run-off potential ratio(R.P.R) predicts the potential production of surface runoff; chloropgyll-a index ranks the potential manure(animal or human) production within a watershed. The GIS model was a valuable tool to assess the impact of environmental pollation in watersheds.

  • This study applied the extended Kalman Filter, a data assimilation method, for the real-time quality improvement of runoff measurements. The state-space model of the extended Kalman Filter was composed of a rainfall-runoff model and the runoff measurement. This study divided the purpose of quality improvement of runoff measurements into two; one is to suppress the abnormally high variation of dam inflow data, and the other to amend the missing or erroneous measurements. For each case, a proper model of extended Kalman Filter was proposed, and the main difference between two models is whether only the variation is considered or both the bias and variation are considered in the estimation of covariance function. This study was applied to the Chungju Dam Basin to confirm the proposed models were effectively worked to improve the quality of both the dam inflow data and the runoff measurements with some missing and erroneous part.

  • 최근 들어 지구온난화의 영향 등 기후변화에 따라 호우의 빈도와 강도가 증가하여 홍수피해가 확대되고 토사재해, 댐과 저수지의 퇴사 문제가 심각하게 대두되고 있다. 특히 농업용저수지의 경우 제체가 노후화되고 유입토사에 의한 퇴사는 심각한 수준에 있다. 또한 도심중심의 다양한 공사 등은 토지 이용과 피복을 변화시켜 많은 토사 유출의 원인이 되고 있다. 이렇게 노출된 토사는 탁수발생원이 되고, 토사와 부유물로 형성된 탁수환경은 수중의 태양복사에너지 전달을 방해하여 수중생태계의 먹이사슬과 저서생물의 서식환경에 악영향을 미치고 있다. 특히 농업용 저수지는 반폐쇄성 수역으로써 탁수환경에 노출되기 쉬우며, 수질회복에는 많은 노력과 비용이 소요된다. 또한 탁수환경의 변화는 시 공간적으로 발생하고 지속적으로 일어나기 때문에 탁수환경에 미치는 토사에 대한 연구는 우선적으로 시행되어야 한다. 이러한 토사 정보의 추출 및 분석에 RS기법의 활용은 증대되고 있으나 우리나라에서는 아직 연구가 미진하여, 이에 대한 기초연구가 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구는 2단계로 진행하였다. 먼저 1단계는 탁도계(2100P turbidimeter)를 이용하여 토사농도 변화에 따른 탁도를 측정하여 탁도 관계식을 추정하였다. 2단계는 분광복사계(LI-1800)를 이용하여 토사농도 변화에 따른 분광반사율을 측정하고, 얻어진 결과는 도함수와 적분의 수치해석 방법으로 토사농도를 측정할 수 있는 최적밴드를 구하였다. 다음으로 각 밴드간의 비를 계산하여 탁수환경을 측정할 수 있는 가장 적합한 밴드 조합식을 구하였다. 얻어진 밴드 조합식은 1단계에서 추정한 토사농도에 따른 탁도 관계식과의 상관관계를 분석하여 분광복사계를 이용한 탁도 관계식을 추정하였다. 그 결과, 6개의 탁도 관계식이 추정되었으며 결정계수 $R^2$는 0.67의 높은 상관성을 보였다.

Effect of Rainfall Intensity, Soil Slope and Geology on Soil Erosion (토양침식에서의 강우특성, 토양경사 및 지질의 영향)

  • This study aims to elucidate the relative importance of geological characteristics, soil slope, and rainfall intensity in relation to soil erosion. To this end, indoor rainfall simulation experiments were carried out under different conditions of rainfall intensities, soil slope, and geological characteristics. The test results show that the factors affect soil erosion in the order of soil slope > rainfall intensity > organic content in the soil. Erosion rates were proportional to rainfall, and increase with increasing clay content. Therefore, the soil erosion rate increases strongly with increasing organic content and clay content. The results show that the soil erosion rate in areas of metamorphic rocks shows a marked increase compared with areas of steep slope and sedimentary rocks. These results indicate that the geological characteristics to produce soil are closely related to sedimentation before and after erosion, providing basic information for the development of models to predict soil erosion rates.

A Study of Air Stripping and Ozonation Characteristics of Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE) (Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE)의 탈기와 오존산화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, there has been considerable concern over the release of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), a gasoline additive, into the aquifers used as potable water sources. MTBE readily dissolves in water and has entered the environment via gasoline spills and leaking storage tanks. In this study air stripping and ozonation of MTBE in aqueous solution were performed in a laboratory scale batch reacter. The mass transfer rate (N) was evaluated and a values about $1.24{\times}10^{-6}\;mol{\cdot}sec^{-1}$ was found. In the ozonation of MTBE a 8.3% decrease of the COD and a 6.5% decrease of the TOC lead to BOD/COD = 0.03. The peudo first-order rate constants of the ozonation of MTBE was $3.75{\times}10^{-5}\;sec^{-1}$. The resulting Ea of 4.80 kcal;mol-1 was observed for molecular ozone reactions.

  • The transesterification of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) with 1,3-propanediol (PDO) was investigated in the presence of catalyst, titanium (IV) butoxide (TBO), at 175~190 $^{\circ}C$ . The degree of transesterification reaction was measured by the output of methanol which was distilled from the reactor. The amount of methanol increased as the reaction temperature, molar ratio and catalyst concentration increased. The observed overall rate of the transesterification was third order; first order with respect to DMT, PDO, and the concentration of catalyst, respectively. Using calculated rate constants, the activation energy for transesterification was 26.93 kcal/mole. The melting temperature of bis(2-hydroxytrimethyl) terephthalate (BHTMT) was 85.2$^{\circ}C$ and heat of fusion 141.3 J/g.
