A Study on the Strength Safety Analysis of a Full Containment LNG Storage Tank Due to a Wind Pressure (완전밀폐식 LNG 저장탱크에 작용하는 풍압에 의한 강도안전 해석에 관한 연구)

  • Using the finite element analysis, this paper presents the strength safety of a side wall of an outer tank and a roof structures in a full containment LNG storage tank system. The outer tank structure in which is constructed with a prestressed concrete is forced by internal hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressures of a leaked LNG and an external wind pressure including a typhoon one. The FEM computed results show that the ring beam between a side wall of an outer tank and a roof structure supports most of the internal and the external loads. This means that the design point of the outer tank system is a ring beam structure and the other one is a center part of the roof structure. In this FE analysis model of a full containment LNG tank system, the outer tank and the roof structures are safe for the given combined loads such as an internal leaked LNG pressure and an external typhoon pressure.

Numerical Study on the Design Safety of $9\%$ Nickel Based Inner Tank Bottom Plate in Terms of Hydrostatic Pressure (유체정압을 고려한 $9\%$ 니켈강재 내부탱크 바닥판의 설계 안정성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • This paper presents the stress and deformation characteristics of $9\%$ nickel based inner tank bottom plate in full containment LNG storage tank. When a . maximum hydrostatic pressure applies the bottom plate of inner tank, the maximum = f stress and displacement distributions of the bottom plate have been analyzed as ' functions of inclined angle of the bottom plate, and the thickness and length of the annular plate between the shell plate and bottom one. The calculated results indicate that the taper of the bottom plate is recommended by 100${\~}$200 : 1 for $140,000m^3$ storage capacity of the inner tank. The results recommend that the thickness of the annular plate is around 20mm and the length is greater than 3m for a maximum hydrostatic pressure of $140,000m^3$ tank capacity.

Convergence Study on Flow Characteristic due to the Configuration of Water Tank (물탱크의 형상에 따른 유동 특성에 관한 융합 연구)

  • In this study, the flow characteristics happening inside water tank due to the configuration of various water tank were analyzed by using a computation fluid dynamics program, ANSYS CFX. This study also examined which model was most efficient at the flow by changing the flow conditions of the inlet and outlet due to the configuration of various tank. Same material was applied to models A, B and C. As the result of flow analysis, it was shown that model B had the best flow and model C had the highest pressure applied to the flow. So, though the water tank has the same material according to the configuration of product, the velocity and pressure of flow become different. Therefore, it is thought to develop the tank good for the fluid flow due to the product configuration through this flow analysis result. On the basis of this study result, the esthetic sense can be shown as the analysis data of flow due to the configuration of fluid tank are grafted onto the real life.

  • The fragility analyses for the partially filled horizontal cylindrical tank having a flexible wall were conducted to evaluate seismic performance. An equivalent simplified model with two lumped masses representing to impulsive and convective masses was used to represent the liquid storage system. This simplified model was validated by comparing its time history analysis results with the 3D FSI model results. The horizontal tank was analyzed under bi-directional excitations. Seismic fragility curves for the stability were developed in transverse and longitudinal directions. Fragility curves show that seismic damage for the horizontal storage system is more susceptible in the transverse direction.

  • The design method to calculate the main features of propellant tank pressurization system during the development procedure of propellant feed system of the liquid rocket engine was suggested. We have considered the influences of parameters of pressurization gas on the efficiency of the thermodynamic processes in the tank. The optimum value of temperature and velocity of pressurization gas at the entrance of tank are obtained by the suggested way.

  • Fuel tank sloshing noise of vehicle is caused by flow impact on the tank wall during sudden braking, and the sloshing vibration of tank wall is a coupled phenomenon of the fuel inside tank and tank wall structure. Therefore, Fluid-Structure Interface(FSI) analysis technology should be adopted to predict accurately the sloshing vibration. In this study, FSI approach was employed to analyze sloshing phenomenon for a simple tank model with velocity change of the actual vehicle test. First, the simulated results for rigid tank model were compared with those for deformable tank model. Next, influence of baffle location and shape of baffle holes on the acceleration magnitude and the maximum stress of tank wall was investigated. In addition, sloshing analysis for tank with another baffle type was carried out.

  • Recently sloshing that fluid in fuel tank is undulating by the external force during motion of automobile, ship and aircraft is greatly affecting by damaging the inside of structure. It's most important to precisely analyze the behavior of fluid by computational fluid dynamics for minimizing the effect of sloshing for the loaded fuel. This study characterized volume of fluid and pressure according to the length and number of vertical baffle and horizontal baffle in fuel tank for Kia Frontier cargo and analyzed for reduction of sloshing during driving on corner and hill by using ADINA-CFD. As a result of analysis, the optimum length for sloshing reduction shows 0.19 m for vertical baffle and 0.08 m for horizontal baffle. And it shows that vertical baffle is better for the reduction effect of sloshing during driving on corners, on the other hand, horizontal baffle is effective and stable during driving on hills.

  • Propellant pressurization system in liquid rocket propulsion system plays a role supplying pressurant gas at a controlled pressure into the ullage space of propellant tanks. The most important design parameter for such propellant pressurization system is the temperature of pressurant gas fed from pressurant tank. Such pressurant is gaseous state, of which density is very sensitive to the temperature of pressurant. Generally for the propulsion system, which requires high thrust and is consisted of cryogenic propellant the pressurant is stored at high density and high pressure to reduce the weight of pressurant tanks, which are placed inside of cryogenic propellant tank. That is called cryogenic storage pressurization system. This study investigates the temperature variation of pressurant at the time when the pressurant is coming out of pressurant tank experimentally as well as numerically. Fluids used in this study are air and liquid oxygen as outer fluid and gaseous nitrogen and gaseous helium as pressurant respectively.

축대칭 PC탱크의 유한요소 해석

  • 이 논문의 목적은 축대칭 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 탱크의 시간의존성 유한요소해석법을 제안하는 것이다. 오늘날 PC구조물은 교량, 포장판, 해상구조물, 원자로 격납구조물, 대규모 액체저장용 탱크 등 여러 형태의 구조물에서 그 사용 예를 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다. 특히 본 논문에서 고려하고자 하는 압력창기나 액체 저장용 탱크의 경우 유체압력 등의 내부압력에 의해 발생하는 균열은 프리 스트레스를 도입함으로써 매우 효과적으로 제어할 수 있기 때문에 상당히 유리한 구조형식이 된다. 그러니 이러한 구조물의 해석과 설계에 있어서 균열의 예측과 더불어 콘크리트의 크리이프, 건조수축 및 PC강재의 리락세이션 등과 같은 시간 의존성 변형으로 인한 프리스트래스의 손실, 여러 단계의 긴장력을 도입함으로써 발생하는 순간변형인 탄성단축 및 이로 인한 긴장력 감소 등을 정확히 계산하는 일은 매우 복잡하고 어려운 일이다. 본 논문에서는 크리이프, 건조수축 및 리락세이션 등과 같은 시간의존성 변형과 순차적으로 다단계의 프리스트레스 도입으로 인한 순간변형 및 탄성단축의 영향을 고려한 축대칭 PC 탱크 구조물의 시간에 따른 거동 및 긴장력의 변화를 유한요소법을 적용하여 해석할 수 있는 해법체계를 정리하고 이를 전산 프로그램화하여, 축대칭 PC탱크 구조물의 시간 의존성 거동에 대한 보다 정밀한 해석을 수행하였다.
