Genetic Variations in Geographic Venus Clam(Gomphina aequilatera, Sowerby) Populations from Samcheok and Wonsan (삼척과 원산의 지리적 민들조개(Gomphina aequilatera, Sowerby) 집단의 유전적 변이)

  • Genomic DNAs(gDNAs) were isolated from the venus clam(Gomphina aequilatera) from Samcheok(venus clam from Samcheok; VCS) and Wonsan(venus clam from Wonsan; VCW) located in the East Sea of the Korean Peninsula. The amplified products were generated by agarose gel electrophoresis(AGE) with oligonucleotides primer, detected by staining with ethidium bromide and viewed by ultraviolet ray. The seven arbitrarily selected primers BION-21, BION-23, BION-25, BION-27, BION-29, BION-31 and BION-33 generated the shared loci, polymorphic, and specific loci, with the molecular sizes ranging from 150 bp to 2,400 bp. In this study, 147 polymorphic loci(147/954 loci, 15.41%) in VCS population and 274(274/996 loci, 27.51%) in VCW population were generated with seven primers. These results suggest the genetic variation in VCW population is higher than in VCS population. Especially, the 700 bp bands generated by the primer BION-21 were identified commonly in two Gomphina populations, which identified populations and/or species. This specific primer was found to be useful in the identification of individuals and/or population, resulting from the different DNA polymorphism among individuals/species/population. Two Gomphina populations between the individual SAMCHEOK no. 03 and WONSAN no. 22 showed the longest genetic distance(0.696) in comparison with other individuals used. The complete linkage cluster analysis indicating three genetic groupings and dendrogram revealed close relationships among individual identities within two geographical populations of venus clam(G. aequilatera) from the Samcheok and Wonsan. The intra-species classification and clustering analyses inferred from molecular markers supported the traditional taxonomy of the species based on morphological characters such as shell size, shape and color. Accordingly, as mentioned above, RAPD analysis showed that VCS population was more or less separated from VCW population.

Feasibility Study of Parallel- Plate Detector Using Dielectric film for 6 MV X-ray (6MV X-선 검출특성 조사를 위하여 유전체 필름을 이용하여 제작한 평행판 검출기의 유용성)

  • The parallel plate detector with dielectric film for dosimetry was designed to measure detection characteristic of 6 MV X-ray with medical linear accelerator. PTFE film was inserted into FEP films that are made by two one-side metal coated materials for ion source. The thicknesses of PTFE dielectric film was 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the thickness of FEP dielectric film was 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. This detector was fixed by two acrylic plate for physical hardness ad geometrical consistency. The geometrical condition for measurement with parallel-plate for detector was below; SSD=100 cm and the 5 cm depth between detector and phantom surface The major parameter of detector characteristics such as zero drift current, leakage current, charge response by applied voltage, reproducibility, linearity, TMR measurement, dose rate effect were measured. The zero drift currents are 8.3 pA and leakage currents are 10 pA. The charge response of applied voltage is showing linearity in 414 voltage. The measurement deviation of reproducibility in this detector is within 1% for dose and the linearity of applied dose shows in this detector. The TMR curves in phantom between this parallel plate detector and reference detector are matched within 3% deviation from maximum dose depth to 7.5 cm depth. It is considered that this dosimetric system is satisfactory for the purpose of the constancy check of the 6 MV x-ray from medical linear accelerator.

Trends on Racing Speed Traits in Thoroughbred Racehorses (더러브렛 경주마의 속도형질에 대한 추세 분석)

  • This study was carried out to calculate genetic trends on racing speed traits of Thoroughbred racehorses, using a total 208,043 racing records of 9,934 heads collected from January, 1990 to December, 2006 in Gwacheon racecourse. Repeated time, winning time and annual best time were used racing speed traits. The estimated heritabilities and repeatabilities for repeated time, winning time and annual best time were 0.288, 0.275, 0.341 and 0.502, 0.475, 0.496, respectively. Average phenotypic improvement per race year for racing speed traits were ranged from -0.115 to 0.148 second. The other side, the genetic improvement per race year for repeated time was -0.027 second but winning time and annual best time were not shown consistent trends. Therefore, we concluded that repeated time is recommended improvement trait of Thoroughbred racehorses.

Discrimination and Genetic Relationship of Adenophorae triphylla(Thunb) A.DC. var. japonica Hara and Codonopsis lanceolata Trauty using RAPD analysis (RAPD분석에 의한 잔대와 더덕의 유연관계 비교 및 감별)

  • Dried parts of the two species are difficult to distinguish morphologically, thus Codonopsis radix has been sold instead of Adenophorae radix in herbal medicine market. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop the genetic marker through the examination of the phylogenetic relationships between two Adenophora triphylla(Thunb.) A. DC. var. japonica Hara, two Adenophora radiatifolia Nakai, five Codonopsis lanceolata(Sieb. et Zucc)Trautv. using RAPD analysis. Fifty decarmer oligonucleotide primers were screened for the RAPD analysis, and four primers generated distinct RAPD markers specific to Adenophorae radix and Codonopsis radix. Based on the RAPD patterns, the genetic relationships between three herbal medicine were analyzed by UPGMA method. As a result, Adenophorae radix and Codonopsis radix were classified into two major subgroups on the basis of the genetic similarity coefficient. The specific RAPD patterns generated by the selected primers were reproducible from dried materials. Furthermore, the specific RAPD patterns were produced from the mixture of dried roots of A. triphylla and C. lanceolata. These results prone the usefulness of the RAPD analysis for the discrimination of pure materials from the mixtures of A. triphylla and C. lanceolata.

Non-uniform Leaky Wave Structure Composed of Finite Conducting Strip Array on a Grounded Dielectric Layer (접지된 유전체층 위에 위치한 유한한 도체스트립 배열구조로 구성된 비균일 누설파구조)

  • Electromagnetic scattering by finite number of conducting strips loaded on a grounded dielectric is considered for the TM polarization case from the viewpoints of transmitting(receiving) leaky wave antenna and grating coupler. An integro-differential equation whose unknowns are the induced currents over the strips is derived and solved by use of the method of moments. In order to construct the non-uniform leaky wave structures with specific source(current) distributions over the strips, distances between two adjacent strips and strip width are simultaneously varied along the structure. From some results for the current distributions over the strips and surface wave powers, it is observed that the maximum coupling efficiencies of the appropriately constructed non-uniform leaky wave structures from the viewpoints of both a receiving leaky wave antenna and a grating coupler amount upto 95%, which are about 15% improvements compared with those(80%) of the uniform structures.

  • Although the manufacturing time series data clustering technique is an important grouping solution in the field of detecting and improving manufacturing large data-based equipment and process defects, it has a disadvantage of low accuracy when applying the existing static data target clustering technique to time series data. In this paper, an evolutionary computation-based time series cluster analysis approach is presented to improve the coherence of existing clustering techniques. To this end, first, the image shape resulting from the manufacturing process is converted into one-dimensional time series data using linear scanning, and the optimal sub-clusters for hierarchical cluster analysis and split cluster analysis are derived based on the Pearson distance metric as the target of the transformation data. Finally, by using a genetic algorithm, an optimal cluster combination with minimal similarity is derived for the two cluster analysis results. And the performance superiority of the proposed clustering is verified by comparing the performance with the existing clustering technique for the actual manufacturing process image.

Genetic Differences and Variations in Freshwater Crab(Eriocheir sinensis) and Swimming Crab(Portunus trituberculatus) (참게(Eriocheir sinensis)와 꽃게(Portunus trituberculatus)의 유전적 차이와 변이)

  • Genomic DNA isolated from two species of Korean freshwater crab(Eriocheir sinensis) and swimming crab(Portunus trituberculatus) was amplified several times by PCR reactions. The seven arbitrarily selected primers OPA-05, OPA-13, OPA-16, OPB-06, OPB-15, OPB-17 and OPD-10 were used to generate the identical, polymorphic, and specific fragments. 505 fragments were identified in the freshwater crab species, and 513 in the swimming crab from Buan: 81 specific fragments(16.0%) in the freshwater crab species and 100(19.5%) in the swimming crab. 165 identical fragments, with an average of 23.6 per primer, were observed in the freshwater crab species. 66 fragments, with an average of 9.4 per primer, were identified in the swimming crab species. The numbers of polymorphic fragments in the freshwater crab and swimming crab were 50 and 14, respectively. The oligonucleotides decamer primer OPB-17 generated identical DNA fragments, approximately 300 bp, in both the freshwater crab and swimming crab species. Compared separately, the average genetic difference was higher in the swimming crab than in the freshwater crab species. The average genetic difference was $0.726{\pm}0.004$ between the freshwater crab and swimming crab species. The dendrogram obtained by the seven primers indicates four genetic clusters: cluster 1(FRESHWATER 01), cluster 2(FRESHWATER 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06), cluster 3(FRESHWATER 07, 08, 09, 10 and 11), and cluster 4(SWIMMING 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22). The shortest genetic distance displaying significant molecular difference was between individuals SWIMMING no. 18 and SWIMMING no. 17 from swimming crab(0.096). Ultimately, individual no. 02 of the freshwater crab was most distantly related to freshwater crab no. 03(genetic distance = 0.770). As stated above, the potential of RAPD-PCR to identify diagnostic markers for the identification of two crab species has been demonstrated.

Wide Bandwidth RFID Tag Antenna Design for Protection of Connection Part between Chip and Antenna (칩과 안테나 사이 연결부 보호를 위한 RFID 태그 안테나의 광대역 설계)

  • This paper describes a wide bandwidth RFID tag antenna design for protection of connection part between chip and antenna. A proposed tag antenna size, a resonant frequency and bandwidth are $53{\times}10{\times}1\;mm$, 900 MHz and 800 MHz($500{\sim}1,300\;MHz$) at -10 dB below, respectively. The dielectric materials with different relative permittivity such as polyethylene, glass and silicon were applied for protection of connection part between the proposed antenna and chip on the way of whole and partial housing. The measured return loss and radiation pattern agreed well with the calculation results. The read range of the proposed tag antenna without any housing and of tag antenna with housing covered over all by silicon with 3 mm thickness were observed about 5 m and 4 m, respectively.

  • Recently, There is increasing interest in the IoT(Internet of Thing) as intelligent information service that enables communication between people and things based on internet. In particular the demand for indoor location-based services with the development of smart devices is rapidly increasing. Using the RSSI signal that is provide to the BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) for Indoor location information measurement calculates distance information between beacon and mobile terminal. However, simply using the RSSI signal to the distance measurement has a difficult to get the indoor location information due to the influence of the signal interference and the weather. In this paper, by performing an operation for obtaining a reliable distance information from the signal information of iBeacon we propose a system for providing reliable indoor location.

  • PCB design technology for high-speed transmission line has been developed continuously. Adapting to the high capacity of the communication system, switch fabric interface used for backplane is being standardized to accommodate more than 10Gbps serial interface. In this paper, various computer simulations are performed to compare the performance of each transmission line per length according to PCB material, and also to analyze the effect from via stub length and crosstalk, for the purpose of applying 11.5Gbps serial interface as a switch fabric interface in tera-bit switching system. As a result of the simulation, important design issues, such as PCB material of each board supporting 8dB improvement in transmission loss using low loss PCB, maximum available stub length on transmission line via, whether or not to apply the backdrill process to the via, and the clearance of the differential pair between transmission lines, are determined. The most efficient system architecture which could be applied 11.5Gbps serial interface in all switch fabric interfaces is defined from the simulation results.
