Development and Performance Test of Hydraulic PTO for 50㎾ Class Rotating Body Type Wave Energy Converter (50㎾급 동체회전형 파력발전시스템 유압식 전력변환장치 개발 및 성능시험)

  • 50kW급 동체회전형 파력발전시스템(WEC;wave energy converter)의 전력변환장치(PTO; power take-off)를 설계 제작한 후 성능시험을 하였다. 파력발전시스템은 2개의 실린더형 동체가 회전관절로 연결된 구조로 수면의 반정도 잠기는 구조로 되어있다. 파랑에 의해 유도된 회전관전의 움직임이 유압실린더에 힘을 가해주며, 유압실린더는 고압의 작동유를 축압기를 경유하여 발전기에 체결된 유압모터로 공급한다. 유압식 PTO은 유압실린더가 왕복운동하는 움직임을 이용하여 고품질의 전력을 생산하는데 효과전인 수단을 제공한다. 파력발전시스템의 경제성은 PTO의 에너지 변환 효율에 크게 의존한다. 발전기를 AC 380V 전력계통에 연계시킨 후, 발전기에서 나오는 출력이 5, 20, 35, 43kW 일때 PTO 전체와 개별기기에 대한 효율을 측정하였다. 본 논문에서 유압식 PTO시스템의 설계에 대해 설명하였으며 효율 향상에 초점을 맞추어 PTO 성능대해 분석하였다.

  • 베인형 펌프, 모터 등의 마찰, 마모특성에 관해서 많은 연구가 있었으나, 베인펌프는 구조로부터의 제약이 많기 때문에, 대용량, 고압, 고속화라는 일련의 요구를 만족시키는 것이 쉽지 않아, 그 요구에 부응하기 위해 지금까지의 연구가 내마모성 작동유, 표면처리 기술, 특수 베인기구등의 개발을 제약에 부딪칠 때마다 필요에 따라 한결같이 경험적으로 이루어졌으며, 측정에 대한 면에서도 동적 조건 하에서의 측정은 거의 없으며, 해석에 관해서도 일반성이 상당히 결여된 상태라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유압 베인펌프의 베인과 캠링간의 접동 모델로써 동적 마찰 실험장치를 제작하여, 베인 선단의 마찰력을 측정하고 이를 기초로 하여 실기 유압 베인펌프의 베인과 켐링내면간의 접동부에 관한 마찰특성을 추정하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.

Cavitation Inception in Oil Hydraulic Pipeline (유압관로에서의 캐비테이션 초생)

  • The Cavitation inception in oil hydraulic pipeline was investigated experimentally and numerically. In the experiment, negative pressures below -1 MPa (absolute pressure) were measured, associated with the transient flows in oil hydraulic pipeline. These experimental results show that the common hydraulic oil in the experimental pipeline withstands large tensions. The growth of a spherical bubble in a infinite volume of viscous compressible fluid due to a stepwise pressure drop was investigated to obtain the critical bubble radius. The calculated value of the critical bubble radius corresponding to the negative pressure measured in the experiment is so small that the premised condition about the bubble shape in the analysis is unsatisfactory. The physical significance of this calculated result implies the fact that there hardly exist free bubbles which can act as cavitation nuclei in the experimental pipeline.

  • With recent oil price increases, the fuel efficiency of hydraulic excavators has become a serious issue. Researchers have considered weight lightening by high pressurization in order to improve the efficiency of the excavator and pump controlled actuation (PCA) and to reduce pressure loss of hybrid and valves using mechanical inertia. However, high pressurization is not very effective because the excavator operates at a low speed; a hybrid is inefficient because little accumulated inertial energy is accumulated; and PCA is ineffective because control precision and responsibility are low. In this study, a method to minimize air and gas in hydraulic oil has been presented as a simple and new way to increase hydraulic efficiency.

A Study on the Seal Life Improvement of the Hydraulic Servo Actuator for Steam Control of Power Plants (발전소 스팀제어용 유압서보 액추에이터의 씰 수명 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The power plants use turbine output control devices to supply or shut off steam to high pressure and low-pressure steam turbines connected to generators. This turbine output control device is driven by a hydraulic servo actuator. The gas flows into the hydraulic servo actuator during periodic inspection or normal operation, and the resulting adiabatic compression of the gas raises the internal temperature of the actuator to $500^{\circ}C$. This temperature increase causes the seals to burn and show wear and tear, resulting in failure. In this study, an air vent valve was installed to allow gas inside the hydraulic servo actuator to flow large quantities of air at the beginning of the operation and after the periodic inspection. Gas was passed through for only minute flow during normal operation of the power plant. By applying the air vent valve, it improves the reliability of the hydraulic servo actuator by discharge the gas appropriately to improve the life of the seal.

Development of Experimental Device for Analysis of Hydraulic Oil Characteristics with Dielectric Constant Sensors (유전상수 센서를 이용한 유압 작동유의 분석을 위한 실험장비 개발)

  • An experimental device was developed for analysis of hydraulic oil characteristics with dielectric constant sensors. Online analysis is the most effective method of the three methods used for analyzing lubricant oils. This is because it can monitor the machine condition effectively using oil sensors in real time without requiring excellent analysis skill and eliminates human errors. Determining the oil quality usually requires complex laboratory equipment for measuring factors such as density, viscosity, base number, acid number, water content, additive, and wear debris. However, the electric constant is another indicator of oil quality that can be measured on-site. The electric constant is the ratio of the capacitance of a capacitor using that material as a dielectric, compared with a similar capacitor that has a vacuum as its dielectric. The electric constant affects the factors such as the base oil, additive, temperature, electric field frequency, water content, and contaminants. In this study, the tendency of the electric constant is investigated with a variation of temperature, water content, and dust weight. The experimental device can control working temperature and mix the contaminants with oil. A machine condition monitoring program developed to analyze hydraulic oil is described. This program provides graph and digital values with variation of time. Moreover, it includes an alarm system for when the oil condition is bad.

  • To produce adequate electricity in nuclear and thermal power plants, an optimal amount of steam should be supplied to a generator connected to high- and low-pressure steam turbines. A turbine output control device, which is a special steam valve employed to supply or interrupt the steam to the turbine, is operated using a hydraulic servo actuator. In power plants, the performance of servo actuators is degraded by the air generated from the hydraulic system, or causes frequent failures owing to an increase in the wear of the seal. This is due to the seal being burnt as generated heat using the produced compressed air. Some power plants have exhausted air using a fixed orifice, and thus they encounter power loss due to mass flow exhaust. Failures are generated in hydraulic pumps, electric motors, and valves, which are frequently operated. In this study, we perform modeling and analysis of the load-sensing air-exhaust valves, which can be passed through very fine flow under normal use conditions, and exhaust mass flow air at the beginning stage as with existing fixed orifices. Then, we propose a method to prevent failures due to the compressed air, and to ensure the control accuracy of hydraulic servo actuators.

Research to Predict the Thermal Characteristics of Electro Hydrostatic Actuator for Aircraft (항공기용 전기-정유압식 작동기(Dual Redundant Asymmetric Tandem EHA)의 열특성 예측을 위한 연구)

  • The electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) recently has been used in flight control fields for aircraft because of its benefits of minimizing oil leakage and weight, improving safety, and etc. while independently operating the hydraulic power source and eliminating complex hydraulic piping. The aircraft of which EHA is installed inside, has the thermal management issue of EHA, because of its limited cooling source as compared with the aircraft which installs the traditional central hydraulic system. So, the thermal analysis model which predicts the thermal characteristics of EHA, is required to resolve this thermal management issue. In this study, an oil circulation circuit inside the hydraulic power module comprised of hydraulic pump and electrical motor for EHA was applied. This is for the purpose of developing the internal rotary group of hydraulic power module, which operates under the conditions of high rotation speed and hydraulic pressure. After formulating an appropriate thermal analysis model, the thermal analysis results with oil cooled or no oil cooled hydraulic control module were compared and reviewed, for the purpose of predicting the thermal characteristics of EHA.

Actuator design and experimental verification on a high speed underwater vehicle (고속 수중운동체의 구동장치 설계 및 실험적 검증)

  • 본 연구에서는 저속에서도 시스템의 자세 제어가 용이하게 하기 위하여 추진기 뒤에 제어판이 위치하도록 설계하였으며, 일반 서보 시스템과는 달리 무게와 공간 제약이 크고, 제어판 운동에 따른 외란 등록성의 변화가 심하므로 push-pull 형태의 소형, 고출력 편로드 복동 복수 실린더의 작동기를 설계하였다. 또한 일반적으로 서보밸브와 작동기는 일체형으로 설계되나 본 시스템의 공간상 심한 제약으로 인하여 서보밸브와 작동기를 분리하는 방법으로 구조설계를 하고 그 사이 유로는 매니폴드식으로 하여 동력전달을 하였다. 설계된 구동장치를 실제 정밀제작하여 실험을 수행하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과와 실험에 의하여 얻어진 결과를 비교 분석하여 설계의 타당성 및 시스템의 성능을 검증하였다. 고속 수중운동체에 대하여 저속에서 자세제어를 용이하게 하고, 제한된 좁은 설치공간의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 1) 추진기 후미에 독립된 4개의 상, 하, 좌, 우 제어판 설치 2) 서보밸브는 몸체에, 작동기는 Tail Tube에 분리 작동 설계 3) 소형의 편로드 복동 복수 실린더로 설계 구성된 유압식 구동장치는 시뮬레이션과 실험 결과를 통하여 시스템의 타당성을 입증하였다. 그러므로, 개발한 구동장치는 저속에서도 큰 제어력으로 자세 제어가 용이하기 때문에 얕은 수심에서 발사시 예상되는 위험 요소를 상다ㅇ 개선 시키므로써 운용범위의 다양화를 가져 올것으로 기대된다.
