The Effects of Velocity and Concentration in the Oxidizer of Heptane Pool Fires on the Flame Stability (헵탄 풀화재 화염안정성에 관한 산화제 유속 및 농도 효과)

  • Flame flickering occurs mainly because of the buoyancy force for pool fires under ambient air. The cup-burner flame was used for experimental investigation of the effect of the oxidizer velocity on the gravitational instability. The results showed that the flickering frequency decreased with increasing oxidizer velocity. The frequency-buoyancy relation with nondimensional variables coincided with that of the buoyant flume and pool fires when the characteristic velocity was defined as the difference between the fuel and oxidizer velocities, which implies that the origin of the gravitational instability is the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in the shear layer. The effect of the oxidizer composition on the instability was also examined through nitrogen dilution in the oxidizer stream. As the concentration of inert gas increased, the length of the blue flame increased and lift-off behavior was observed. The oscillation frequency was independent of the dilution ratio, but was related to the local flame structure.

  • This research utilized the manual to calculate the structural scale of stone and gabion, which was developed through comparison and verification of the results drawn by hydraulic model experiment and existing empirical formula. Appropriate structural scale of stone according to the construction site when the critical velocity was exceeded, utilizing the previously expected and recorded data on current velocity per day and per hour during the final closure period for Saemangeum sea dike. Also, the scale of rocks was presented, considering the altercation in water depth according to the construction. The developed manual offered appropriate rate of mixed use of stone and gabion that suits various flow velocities, which will minimize any loss of stone-gabion and contribute to successful final closure, and proved the utility and application of the manual.

  • Numerical simulations were carried out to investigate the flow velocity changes in the flow field due to the variation in the thickness of the upper part of the shroud tidal power generation system. In this study, it was performed under constant flow velocity condition. In addition, performance analysis of shroud was performed under the same conditions. As the height of the upper part increases, the flow velocity rate gradually increases, and it tends to decrease at a certain height. As a result of analyzing the shape of the blade and the shape of the blade combined with the shroud, the torque of the blade increased due to the increase of the flow rate by the shroud system. It is expected that the shape of the structure obtained by this study and the analysis of the flow velocity distribution in the flow field can provide the data necessary for the development of an efficient shroud tidal power generation system.

  • An unsteady internal ballistic performance model was proposed to take account for the variance of local regression rate along the grain port of a hybrid rocket combustor. The characteristic parameters of hybrid rocket motor was investigated. The performance model of concern in the study was fairly comparable with the test result. The combustion coefficients and local burning characteristics of a hybrid rocket motor were evaluated. The local variation of the oxidizer mass flow rate results in the changes of local regression rate, pressure, temperature, and gas velocity to flow direction, which was analyzed quantitatively.

  • The adsorption properties for $NO_{2}$ by hybrid ion exchange fiber with resins were investigated. The adsorption of $NO_{2}$ was increased with increasing of adsorption time and the initial concentration. At the initial $NO_{2}$ concentration of 900 ppm, approximately 40% of initial $NO_{2}$ was adsorbed around 20 min. And the adsorption of $NO_{2}$ was decreased with increasing of flow rate from 20 to 40 L/min. The maximum adsorbed amount of initial $NO_{2}$ was 45% at the flow rate of 10 L/min. The amount of adsorption was increased with increasing the water content.

The Study for Reduction Effect of Riverbed Scour due to Shape of Vanes (베인 형태에 따른 하상세굴 저감 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, Heavy rains and super typhoons occurred by climate change cause a lot of damage in Korea. In order to reduce such damage, various types of river maintenance projects are being promoted, but it is difficult to maintain the balance of rivers in Korea with distinct flood and dry seasons. In particular, river structures installed as a river maintenance project cause various problems such as scouring of structures and their foundations during floods and river bed changes. In order to reduce such bed scour, various vanes are installed in the bend of the river, and various bed scour reduction effects appear depending on the size, arrangement, and shape of the vanes. The vane regenerates the secondary flow in the opposite direction to the secondary flow generated by the centrifugal force, thereby reducing scour around the outer bed and promoting deposition. The theory of this study uses the governing equation applying the continuity equation that satisfies the law of conservation of mass and the momentum equation that satisfies the conservation of momentum, and measures the overall average flow velocity change rate according to design factors to investigate the effect of vanes under various conditions. Both the average and cross-sectional flow velocities decreased in both the trapezoidal vane and the square vane. In addition, vanes installed perpendicularly or inclined to the direction of river flow generate a secondary flow in the opposite direction to the secondary flow generated by centrifugal force, thereby canceling the secondary flow of centrifugal force, so the effect of the vane appears.

  • 날로 심각해지는 해수 오염, 유류사고, 해파리에 의한 인명피해 및 발전소의 경제적 피해사고, 해양 쓰레기 등과 같은 해양 환경 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이러한 해양환경문제를 해결하기위해 생물학적 방법과 물리적 방법이 있으나 생물학적 방법은 개체군과 종류의 변화로 그 적용이 어려운 실정이고, 물리적 방법은 지속적인 제거를 위한 비용적인 문제와 인부 및 자원봉사자의 안전문제가 발생한다. 따라서 에어버블을 이용한 각종 친환경적 방법이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 에어버블 차단막의 차단율을 증가시키기 위해 현장조건 내에서 에어버블의 거동특성에 대한 실험을 하였다. 실험을 위해 회류식 개수로 에어버블 거동실험장치를 제작하였다. 실험장치는 길이 8.1m, 높이 1.2m, 폭 0.7m이며, 두께 10mm의 투명 아크릴를 사용하여 에어버블의 거동을 관찰 할 수 있게하였다. 대형펌프를 사용하여 물이 회류함을 통해 흐름유속을 만들어 현장조건을 고려하였다. 에어버블을 분사하기 위해 압축공기 저장탱크와 연결된 분사구가 있으며, 노즐의 크기(0.5mm~1.0mm)로 분사량을 조절하고 분사압은 별도의 조절장치를 이용하여 0~5bar 범위의 분사압 조절을 가능하게 하였다. 초고속 카메라와 3축유속계를 사용하여 에어버블의 이동경로, 유속 및 에어버블의 거동을 측정하였다. 실험을 통한 구간별 에어버블의 거동 분석 결과, 상승속도는 분사구에서 분출되는 구간인 0~0.8m 에서는 상승속도가 증가하고, 0.8~1.2m구간에서는 속도가 다시 상승하는 경향을 확인하였다. 이는 수표면에 가까워질수록 수압이 작아져서 에어버블의 크기가 커짐에 따라 부력이 커짐으로 판단된다. 같은 이유로 분사량이 많을수록 상승속도도 같이 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 유속에 따른 거동은 유속을 0.1m/s~0.5m/s로 조정하여 유속별 에어버블이 수표면까지 도달하는 거리, 속도 및 이동경로를 분석하였다. 유속과 에어버블이 수표면까지 도달하는 거리는 비례하여 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 실험결과를 바탕으로 조건에 따른 에어버블 거동 경험식을 도출하였다. 본 실험은 회류식 개수로 에어버블 거동실험장치를 활용하여 에어버블 거동 경험식을 제시하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 에어버블 차단막 기술 개발을 위한 기초자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다.

An Experimental Study of the Pool-Boiling CHF on Downward-Facing Plates (하향 평판에서의 풀비등 임계열유속에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study has been peformed on the pool-boiling critical heat flux (CHF) phenomenon on downward -facing plates. The CHF for inclinations of -90$^{\circ}$(horizontally downward position), -88$^{\circ}$, -86$^{\circ}$, -84$^{\circ}$, -60$^{\circ}$ and -40$^{\circ}$ were measured using plate-type test sections of 20mm 200mm and 25mm 200mm in a pool of saturated water under atmospheric pressure. The measured CHF was lower for the wider test section and decreased as its orientation approached to the horizontally downward position. The lower CHF can be attributable to the increased difficulty for the bubbles in escaping from the heater surface. When compared with the previous works, the overall trends were similar; however, a transition angle, at which the decrease rate in the CHF was changed, was observed in the vicinity of -80$^{\circ}$.

An Experimental Study on Tip Velocity and Downstream Recirculation Zone of Single Groyne Conditions (단일 횡수제 조건에 따른 선단부 유속과 재순환 영역에 대한 실험 연구)

  • Recently, the concern of groynes that provide us with various ecological environment and improvement of scenary near river as well as hydraulic improvement has greatly increased for naturalized river and ecological river restoration. However there is no adequate design guidelines in Korea. Furthermore there is lack of research for installation of groynes in Korea. Thus, in this study, we have conducted hydraulic modeling test for kinds of groyne and changes of permeability and made a study of the analysis for installation factor of groyne. Experimental conditions were the fixed bed model for flow pattern of groyne tip and separation length about changes of groyne length and permeability. The Experiments were conducted to measure velocity and drift angle at groyne tip. The main study kas measured the groyne tip velocity for a factor of scour and drift angle for velocity increase at center of channel. We have suggested the equation about groyne tip velocity rate(tip velocity/ approach velocity) and area rate(groyne area/ flow area). And In recirculation zone of groyne downstream, To study the basic data of groyne about installation interval has analyzed the change of separation length and incidence angle. We have suggested the equation about separation length rate(separation length/ groyne length), changes of permeability and installation angle.

A Study on the Standard of Number of Verticals in the Discharge Measurements using Electromagnetic Wave Surface Velocimeter (전자파표면유속계를 이용한 유량측정시 측선수 기준에 관한 연구)

  • 수문조사 방법 및 기준은 각 국가별 기후, 유역 및 하천특성에 따라 다르게 제시되고 있으며, 세계기상기구(WMO)나 국제표준화기구(ISO)에서는 국제적으로 통용될 수 있는 기준을 제시하고 있다. 대부분의 국가에서는 국제기구 또는 수문조사 선진국(미국, 일본, 영국 등)에서 제시한 기준 및 방법을 도입하여 적용하고 있으며, 국내의 경우도 국제기준과 더불어 미국의 기준과 우리나라와 기후, 지형 및 하천특성이 비슷한 일본의 기준을 많은 부분에서 도입하였다. 유속계에 의한 유량측정 시 측선수를 늘리면 정확도를 높일 수 있지만 대하천 또는 수위(유속)가 급변하는 경우에는 측선수를 많이 해서 측정시간이 길어지면 오히려 정확도를 떨어뜨릴 수 있다. 특히, 국내에서 홍수시 신속한 측정에 사용되는 부자와 전자파표면유속계는 기존의 회전식유속계 측선수 기준을 적용하는 것은 적합하지 않다. 이에 따라, 우리나라 수문조사 전담기관인 한국수자원조사기술원에서는 전자파표면유속계 측선수 기준을 실무적으로 제시하고 있으나 이에 대한 기술적인 검토가 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 2016년~2020년까지 한국수자원조사기술원에서 측정된 58개 지점의 총 739개의 전자파표면유속계 측정성과에 대하여 수면폭 및 측선수 현황을 살펴보았다. 한국수자원조사기술원 일반기준 이상 측선수 비율은 646개(87.4%), 긴급기준 이상 측선수 비율은 739개(100.0%) 그리고 전체 평균값 이상 측선수 비율은 404개(54.7%)로 나타났다. 일반기준 이상 측선수가 많은 원인을 파악해보기 위하여 측선수를 최대구간유량비 20% 이상일 때까지 측선수를 10%씩 감소하여 산정된 유량의 변화를 검토하였다. 유량 변화 검토 결과 현장에서 유량측정 시 측선수의 등유량 배치, 최대구간유량비(20%) 및 불확도(±10%) 기준을 준수하기 위해서 기준 이상의 측선수를 확보하는 경향으로 판단되었다. 이러한 문제를 해소하기 위하여 측선수 감소에 따른 유량 편차율 ±10%와 불확도 ±10% 조건을 만족하는 수면폭 구간별 최소 기준을 제시하였으며, 이 기준을 적용할 경우 전자파표면유속계로 현장에서 보다 신속하고 정확한 유량측정을 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
