  • This study was to investigate the effects of joint mobilization with two different electrotherapy methods on shoulder external rotation range of motion and pain in mastectomy patients. Thirty mastectomy patients were divided into STMG (joint mobilization+pain scrambler therapy, n=15) and TENMG (joint mobilization+transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, n=15). The measurements were performed shoulder external rotation range of motion (ROM), pain (VAS). In both groups, there was a significant difference in the shoulder external rotation ROM, pain after intervention (p <.05). STMG was more decrease in VAS score than TENMG (p <.05). There was no significant difference in shoulder external rotation ROM between the two groups. In order to decrease the pain of mastectomy patients, it was confirmed that STMG was more effective than TENMG.. It is thought that a control group is added to confirm various differences, and more subjects are needed.

  • Breast cancer related lymphedema (BCRL) is one of the most intractable complications after surgery. Patients suffer from physical impairment, as well as psychological depression. Moreover, a recent study revealed that cellulitis significantly increased the risk of BCRL, and cellulitis has been suggested as a risk factor of BCRL development. We describe a patient treated with stellate ganglion blocks (SGBs) without steroid for relief of symptoms and reduction of the arm circumference of breast cancer-related infectious lymphedema in a month. We measured the arm circumference at four locations; 10 cm and 5 cm above and below the elbow crease, numeric rating scale (NRS) score, lymphedema and breast cancer questionnaire (LBCQ) score on every visit to the pain clinic. A serial decrease of the arm circumference and pain score were observed after second injection. In the middle of the process, cellulitis recurred, we performed successive SGBs to treat infectious lymphedema. The patient was satisfied with the relieved pain and swelling, especially with improved shoulder range of motion as it contributes to better quality of life. This case describes the effects of SGB for infectious BCRL patients. SGB could be an alternative or ancillary treatment for infectious BCRL patients.

  • This study was performed to examine the prevalence of and risk factors for depression and anxiety among breast cancer survivors in their 40s. Completed questionnaires were collected from 609 breast cancer survivors in their 40s who agreed to participate the study. The mean scores of CES-D and GAD-7 were 16.35(SD=9.24) and 4.25(SD=4.17), respectively. Nearly 47.7% of the participants had depression and 10.3% had anxiety. The mean score of pain severity was 1.91(SD=1.60) and 10.9% of the participants reported more than moderate pain. The final model in the hierarchical regression analysis showed that pain interference, unemployment, the type of live-in partner, and past psychiatric disease were the significant risk factors for depression, and pain interference, unemployment and past psychiatric disease for anxiety. These results show the prevalence of depression and anxiety among breast cancer survivors in their 40s is high and suggest appropriate psychosocial intervention should be provided for high risk groups based on those risk factors.

  • Mammography, the basic test for finding and treating increased breast cancer, gives the anxiety of cancer and radiation exposure to most women. In addition, it gave very severe compression pain, so we studied the degree of pain and tried to reduce the pain. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the modified imaging technique and the basic imaging technique based on clinical experience, respectively. The subjects of this study were 160 women from 30 to 60 years old who visited to Seoul Boramae Hospital operated by Seoul National University Hospital from February to March 2017 for breast screening. Modified 80 persons and 80 persons were divided into two groups, and each group was asked to fill out questionnaires sequentially without knowing the subjects. The first method is a modified method in which an automatic pedal is divided into four or more presses, a manual pressure is used together, and an attitude is described in detail. Secondly, we used only the automatic pedal compression method and press it within 1-3 times. In the mean of the pain distribution, the experimental group (modified method) was 2.49 and the control group (basic method) had an average of 4.86, which showed 48.8% less pain. In this modified method, the pain scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, and the degree of the pain was statistically significant.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of mammo pad made of different kinds of materials on the reduced inconvenience and compression pains of patients to examine plausible interchangeability of existing pads made of single kind of material, and to examine the changes in pains of patients taking mammography and various factors therein. The high-hardness and highly-elastic mammo pressure pads, capable of replacing existing mammo pad of "H" company, were manufactured, and the display quality of mammography obtained from respective mammo pad were compared to each other to appraise the availability of manufactured mammo pad. In addition, 200 patients, who came to a general hospital in Seoul, were selected as subjects for the survey employing a questionnaire which was distributed to the subjects from December 2018 to March 2020 to identify the factors involved with the mammo pad of patients while taking mammography. The results of mammography obtained from both of the existing and newly manufactured mammo pad revealed appropriate display qualities fell within the range of clinical criteria. Besides, the factors associated with changing compression pains of patients taking mammography were analyzed wherefrom the general factors in the following order of age, height, and BMI index appeared, while the experiential and female factors appeared as in the following order: presence of menstruation, experience of child-birth, experience of breast feeding, menopause, grade of breast, shape of breast, and experience of mammography. In conclusion, the following factors comprising the age, experience of breast feeding, experience of mammography, and menopause rendered approximately 54% of power of explaining the degree of changing pains during mammography. Regarding the changes in compression pains while taking mammography, the increasing experience of mammography of patients rendered approximately 0.26 times more at the intermediate range of compression pains and approximately 0.14 times more at the range of severe pains.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of foot massage as a nursing intervention on the anxiety and pain of the mastectomy patients. Method: This research was quasi-experimental study of a total of 28 patients with 14 in the experimental group and 14 in the control group. For the experimental group, foot massage for 30 minutes was given by a foot-massage specialist. Anxiety and pain were measure once before the foot massage and five times after the massage. The collected data were analyzed by repeated ANOVA and t-test using the SPSS 12.0 program. Result: There was a statistically significant decrease in anxiety and pain in the experimental group compared to the control group over 5 different times. Conclusion: The foot massage was effective on anxiety and pain in mastectomy patients in this study. Therefore, foot massage would be usefully utilized as a nursing intervention for mastectomy patients.

  • The male breast is a non-functional and rudimentary organ, but similarly to the female breast, it can be affected by various diseases. In contrast to female breast cancer, male breast cancer has a low incidence, and there is no established breast cancer screening program for male patients. Therefore, the diagnostic evaluation is usually performed in male patients with symptoms such as palpability or pain in the breasts. Furthermore, most adult male patients who visit breast clinics sometimes present with not only breast symptoms but also axillary symptoms, and both the breast and axilla are usually examined during breast ultrasonography in daily clinical practice. The purpose of this pictorial essay was to present the sonographic features of various palpable breast and axillary lesions in adult male patients.

  • Breast cancer is the sccond most female cancer patient in the entire female cancer patient, and has emerged as the highest contributor to female cancer deaths. If breast cancer id detected early, the cure rate is 92 percent. However, if early detection fails, breast cancer has a very high rate of metastasis. The transition from cancer to cancer has become more successful as cancer progresses. Early diagnosis of cancer is an important factor in improving quality of life. Examples of breast cancer include Mammograph, ultrasound, and Momotome. Mommography is not only painful for the examiner, but also for easy access to breast cancer exam inations. In this paper, breast cancer diagnosis data mammograph data was used. In addition, the Neural Network were classified for early diagnosis of breast cancer early using NEWFM. After learning of data using NEWFM, the accuracy of the breast cancer data classification was 84.4391%.
