This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of Cherry Valley and Grimaud strain. A total of two hundred eighty eight, one day old duck breeders (Cherry Valley and Grimaud strain) were randomly divided into two groups with 4 replicates of 36 birds each and fed a commercially available diet for 24 weeks. Overall body weight gain was significantly higher in Cherry Valley (3,064 g) than in Grimaud strain (2,851 g). Feed intake was significantly increased in Grimaud strain compared with Cherry Valley strain (p<0.05). Viability of Grimaud strain showed 100.0% and was higher than that of Cherry Valley strain. Uniformity was not statistically different between Cherry Valley and Grimaud strains.
A new diagnostics of plasma electron temperature and plasma density is introduced with the observation of the light emission along the tube of external electrode fluorescent lamps. With two different methods operating an external electrode fluorescent lamp of outer diameter 4.0 mm and length 860 mm for the back-light source of 37-inch LCD-TVs, the lighting modes and the plasma properties are investigated. In the center balance operation, the light-emission propagates simultaneously from both sides of the high voltage electrodes to the center of the lamp, while in conventional operation the light-emission propagates from the one end of a high voltage to the other ground electrode. In the operation value of luminance $10,000{\sim}15,000cd/m^2$, the electron plasma thermal energy $(kT_e)$ is about $1.3{\sim}2.7eV$ with the electron density $(n_e)$ is about $(1.6{\sim}3.6){\times}10^{16}m^{-3}$.

In this study, air sampling locations in the stack of the Advanced Fuel Science Building (AFSB) at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) were assessed according to the ANSI/HPS N13.1-1999 specification. The velocity profile, flow angle and $10{\mu}m$ aerosol particle profile at the cross-section as functions of stack height L and stack diameter D (L/D) were assessed according to the sampling location criteria using COMSOL. The criteria for the velocity profile were found to be met at 5 L/D or more for the height, and the criteria for the average flow angle were met at all locations through this assessment. The criteria for the particle profile were met at 5 L/D and 9 L/D. However, the particle profile at the cross-section of each sampling location was found to be non-uniform. In order to establish uniformity of the particle profile, a static mixer and a perimeter ring were modeled, after which the degrees of effectiveness of these components were compared. Modeling using the static mixer indicated that the sampling locations that met the criteria for the particle profile were 5-10 L/D. When modeling using the perimeter ring, the sampling locations that met the criteria for particle profile were 5 L/D and 7-10 L/D. The criteria for the velocity profile and the average flow angle were also met at the sampling locations that met the criteria for the particle profile. The methodologies used in this study can also be applied during assessments of air sampling locations when monitoring stacks at new nuclear facilities as well as existing nuclear facilities.
Deformable models offer an attractive approach for extracting three-dimensional boundary structures from volumetric images. However, conventional deformable models have three major limitations - sensitive to initial condition, difficult to represent complex boundaries with severe object concavities and protrusions, and self-intersective between model elements. This paper proposes a deformable model that is effective to extract geometrically complex boundary surfaces by improving away the limitations of conventional deformable models. First, the proposed deformable model resamples its elements hierarchically based on volume image pyramid. The hierarchical resampling overcomes sensitivity to initialization by extracting the boundaries of objects in a multiscale scheme and enhances geometric flexibility to be well adapted to complex image features by refining and regularizing the size of model elements based on voxel size. Second, the physics-based formulation of our model integrates conventional internal and external forces, as well as a non-self-intersecting force. The non-self-intersecting force effectively prevents collision or crossing over between non-neighboring model elements by pushing each other apart if they are closer than a limited distance. We show that the proposed model successively extracts the complex boundaries including severe concavities and protrusions, neither depending on initial position nor causing self-intersection, through the experiments on several computer-generated volume images and brain MR volume images.

The spent cationic exchange resins and anionic exchange resins were separated from mixed spent exchange resins by a fluidized bed gravimetric separator. The separated resins were identified by an elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The each test sample was prepared by diluting the slurry made by wet ball milling the cationic exchange resins and the anionic exchange resins separated as a spherical granular form for 24 hours. The resulting test samples showed a slurry form of less than $75{\mu}m$ of particle size and 25,000ppm of $COD_{cr}$. The decomposition conditions of each test samples from a thermal power plant were obtained with a lab-scale(reactor volume : 220mL) supercritical water oxidation(SCWO) facility. Then pilot plant(reactor volume : 24 L) tests were performed with the test samples from a thermal power plant and a nuclear power plant successively. Based on the optimal decomposition conditions and the operation experiences by lab-scale facility and the pilot plant, a commercial plant(capacity : 150kg/h) can be installed in a nuclear power plant was designed.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of extrusion temperature on puffing of white and red ginseng powder. The extrusion variables were feed material (red and white ginseng powder) and die temperature $(100\;and\;115^{\circ}C)$. The analyzed characteristics of ginseng extrudates were sectional expansion index, microstructure and rheological properties. Most of biopolymer was highly puffed at higher extrusion temperature, but the cross-sectional expansion of white and red ginseng powder was higher at 1000e and longitudinal expansion seems to higher at $115^{\circ}C$. White and red ginseng powder were puffed inconsistently and discontinuously at $115^{\circ}C$. The scanning electron microphotograph of extruded white ginseng was uniform air cell distribution at 100oe, but pore size increased at $115^{\circ}C$ and had fine uniformity due to pore explosion. White ginseng and its extrudate were pseudoplastic. Intrinsic viscosity was lower as a result of increased die temperature. The cross-sectional expansion seems to be inconsistent and decreased due to decrease in melt viscosity at $115^{\circ}C$.
This study aimed to develop a foam concrete material for a ground repair system that has low strength and low fluidity by using an eco-friendly binder, which substitutes industrial by-products for more than 90% of cement. Basic properties were evaluated after substituting a small amount of calcium sulfo aluminate (CSA) for the binder to improve the sinking depth rate and volume change, commonly found when it had a large amount of industrial by-products. The substitution rates of CSA for the eco-friendly binder used for the foam concrete were 2.5, 5, and 10%. Fresh properties, hardened properties, pore structure, and hydrates were analyzed. Experimental results showed that using only 2.5% of CSA could improve the deep sinking depth which occurred when using an eco-friendly binder. As a result, the weight difference between the upper, middle, and lower parts of cast specimens was improved even after being hardened. The addition of CSA also contributed to the formation of small, uniformly sized closed pores and improved initial strength. However, when the proportion of CSA increased, the long-term strength decreased. However, it satisfied the target strength when 5% or less of CSA was used. The results of this study revealed that it was possible to manufacture foam concrete with low strength and high fluidity for repairing ground satisfying target qualities by adding 2.5% of CSA to the eco-friendly binder containing a large amount of industrial by-products.

Marine accidents involving fishing boats, caused by a loss of stability, have been increasing over the last decade. One of the main reasons for these accidents is a sudden wind attacks. In this regard, the wind loads acting on the ship hull need to be estimated accurately for safety assessments of the motion and maneuverability of the ship. Therefore, this study aims to develop a computational model for the inlet boundary condition and to numerically estimate the wind load acting on a fishing boat. In particular, wind loads acting on a fishing boat at the wind speed profile boundary condition were compared with the numerical results obtained under uniform wind speed. The wind loads were estimated at intervals of 15° over the range of 0° to 180°, and i.e., a total of 13 cases. Furthermore, a numerical mesh model was developed based on the results of the mesh dependency test. The numerical analysis was performed using the RANS-based commercial solver STAR-CCM+ (ver. 13.06) with the k-ω turbulent model in the steady state. The wind loads for surge, sway, and heave motions were reduced by 39.5 %, 41.6 %, and 46.1 % and roll, pitch, and yaw motions were 48.2 %, 50.6 %, and 36.5 %, respectively, as compared with the values under uniform wind speed. It was confirmed that the developed inlet boundary condition describing the wind speed gradient with respect to height features higher accuracy than the boundary condition of uniform wind speed. The insights obtained in this study can be useful for the development of a numerical computation method for ships.
The study on electrode degradation of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) was mainly studied on the particle growth and active area reduction of Pt on the electrode. The degradation of the electrode catalyst Pt in contact with the membrane affects the deterioration of the polymer membrane, but there are not many studies related to this. In this study, the phenomenon of the deposition of deteriorated Pt inside the polymer membrane during the accelerated electrode catalyst degradation test and its effects were studied. The voltage change (0.6 V ↔ 0.9 V) was repeated up to 30,000 cycles to accelerate the platinum degradation rate. When the voltage change cycle was repeated while oxygen was introduced into the cathode, the amount of Pt deposited inside the film was larger than when nitrogen was introduced. As the number of voltage change cycles increased, the amount of Pt deposited inside the membrane increased, and Pt dissolved in the cathode moved toward the anode, showing a uniform distribution throughout the membrane at 20,000 cycles. In the process of the accelerated electrode catalyst degradation test, the hydrogen crossover current density of the membrane did not change, and it was confirmed that the deposited Pt did not affect the durability of the membrane.

The copper plating process used to fabricate the submicron damascene pattern of Cu wiring for Si wafer was applied to the plating of a PCB pattern of several tens of microns in size using the same organic additives and current density conditions. In this case, the non-uniformity of the plating thickness inside the pattern was observed. In order to quantitatively analyze the cause, a numerical calculation considering the solution flow and electric field was carried out. The calculation confirmed that the depletion of Cu2+ ions in the solution occurred relatively earlier at the bottom corner than the upper part of the pattern due to the plating of the sidewall and the bottom at the corner of the pattern bottom. The diffusion coefficient of Cu2+ ions is 2.65 10-10 m2/s, which means that Cu2+ ions move at 16.3 ㎛ per second on average. In the cases of small damascene patterns, the velocity of Cu2+ ions is high enough to supply sufficient ions to the inside of the patterns, while sufficient time is required to replenish the exhausted copper ions in the case of a PCB pattern having a size of several tens of microns. Therefore, it is found that the thickness uniformity can be improved by reducing the current density to supply sufficient copper ions to the target area.
