Presently, working gas pipelines are being subjected to the influence of construction vibration. Especially on subway and road construction, gas pipelines are being influenced to construction vibration caused by use of construction equipment, passage of a large-sized vehicle and blasting. Buried gas pipelines are subjected to the influence of vibration caused by blast in the vicinity of pipeline, exposed gas pipelines are subjected to the influence of vehicle vibration. Therefore, in the study, it is developed to vibration prediction program of gas pipeline by analyzing measured construction vibration. This program is able to predict vibration of gas pipeline according to field conditions by using the results of structural finite element analysis and empirical equation by reliability analysis. And, this program contains the database of construction vibration. Additionally, this program is able to compute estimated blast vibration equation using measured blast vibration data in the field and to form graph of allowable charging gunpowder per delayed-action with the change of blast velocity. Therefore, field workers are able to predict construction vibration around gas pipeline and estimate safety of gas pipeline.
Reliable assessment of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes greatly improves many practical issues in hydrography, socio-geographical research such as the observation of erosion and accretion, coastal monitoring, ecological effects evaluation. Remote sensing imageries can offer the outstanding capability to monitor nature and extent of land and associated changes over time. Nowadays accurate analysis using remote sensing imageries with high spatio-temporal resolution is required for environmental monitoring. This study develops a methodology of mapping and change detection in LULC by using classified Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2 (KOMPSAT-2) multispectral imageries at Jeonbuk and Jeonnam provinces including protected tidal flats located in the west coasts of Korean peninsula from 2008 to 2015. The LULC maps generated from unsupervised classification were analyzed and evaluated by post-classification change detection methods. The LULC assessment in Jeonbuk and Jeonnam areas had not showed significant changes over time although developed area was gradually increased only by 1.97% and 4.34% at both areas respectively. Overall, the results of this study quantify the land cover change patterns through pixel based analysis which demonstrate the potential of multispectral KOMPSAT-2 images to provide effective and economical LULC maps in the coastal zone over time. This LULC information would be of great interest to the environmental and policy mangers for the better coastal management and political decisions.
Real-time high-precision image georeferencing is important for the realization of image based precise navigation or sophisticated augmented reality. In general, high-precision image georeferencing can be achieved using the conventional simultaneous bundle adjustment algorithm, which can be performed only as post-processing due to its processing time. The recently proposed sequential bundle adjustment algorithm can rapidly produce the results of the similar accuracy and thus opens a possibility of real-time processing. However, since the processing time still increases linearly according to the number of images, if the number of images are too large, its real-time processing is not guaranteed. Based on this algorithm, we propose a modified fast algorithm, the processing time of which is maintained within a limit regardless of the number of images. Since the proposed algorithm considers only the existing images of high correlation with the newly acquired image, it can not only maintain the processing time but also produce accurate results. We applied the proposed algorithm to the images acquired with 1Hz. It is found that the processing time is about 0.02 seconds at the acquisition time of each image in average and the accuracy is about ${\pm}5$ cm on the ground point coordinates in comparison with the results of the conventional simultaneous bundle adjustment algorithm. If this algorithm is converged with a fast image matching algorithm of high reliability, it enables high precision real-time georeferencing of the moving images acquired from a smartphone or UAV by complementing the performance of position and attitude sensors mounted together.
Grounding line is used as evidence of the mass balance showing the vulnerability of Antarctic glaciers and ice shelves. In this research, we utilized a high resolution digital elevation model of glacier surface derived by recently launched satellites to estimate the position of grounding line of Campbell Glacier in East Antarctica. TanDEM-X and TerraSAR-X data in single-pass interferometry mode were acquired on June 21, 2013 and September 10, 2016 and CryoSat-2 radar altimeter data were acquired within 15 days from the acquisition date of TanDEM-X. The datasets were combined to generate a high resolution digital elevation model which was used to estimate the grounding line position. During the 3 years of observation, there weren't any significant changes in grounding line position. Since the average density of ice used in estimating grounding line is not accurately known, the variations of the grounding line was analyzed with respect to the density of ice. There was a spatial difference from the grounding line estimated by DDInSAR whereas the estimated grounding line using the characteristics of the surface of the optical satellite images agreed well when the ice column density was about $880kg/m^3$. Although the reliability of the results depends on the vertical accuracy of the bathymetry in this study, the hydrostatic ice thickness has greater influence on the grounding line estimation.
Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a technique that delivers a high dose to a target legion and a low dose to a critical organ through only one or a few irradiations. For this purpose, many mathematical methods for optimization have been proposed. There are some limitations to using these methods: the long calculation time and difficulty in finding a unique solution due to different tumor shapes. In this study, many clinical target shapes were examined to find a typical pattern of tumor shapes from which some possible ideal geometrical shapes, such as spheres, cylinders, cones or a combination, are assumed to approximate real tumor shapes. Using the arrangement of multiple isocenters, optimum variables, such as isocenter positions or collimator size, were determined. A database was formed from these results. The optimization procedure consisted of the following steps: Any shape of tumor was first assumed to an ideal model through a geometry comparison algorithm, then optimum variables for ideal geometry chosen from the predetermined database, followed by a final adjustment of the optimum parameters using the real tumor shape. Although the result of applying the database to other patients was not superior to the result of optimization in each case, it can be acceptable as a plan starling point.
The application of more complex radiotherapy techniques using multileaf collimation (MLC), such as 3D conformal radiation therapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), has increased the significance of verifying leaf position and motion. Due to thier reliability and empirical robustness, quality assurance (QA) of MLC. However easy use and the ability to provide digital data of electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) have attracted attention to portal films as an alternatives to films for routine qualify assurance, despite concerns about their clinical feasibility, efficacy, and the cost to benefit ratio. In this study, we developed method for daily QA of MLC using electronic portal images (EPIs). EPID availability for routine QA was verified by comparing of the portal films, which were simultaneously obtained when radiation was delivered and known prescription input to MLC controller. Specially designed two-test patterns of dynamic MLC were applied for image acquisition. Quantitative off-line analysis using an edge detection algorithm enhanced the verification procedure as well as on-line qualitative visual assessment. In conclusion, the availability of EPI was enough for daily QA of MLC leaf position with the accuracy of portal films.
The water balance analysis for the long-term water resources plan is a simple calculation that compares water demands with possible water supplies. For a watershed being considered the reports on the performance of the water balance analysis, however, have shown inconsistent results and thus have not earned credibility due to the uncertainty of the data acquired and models used. In this research, uncertainties in the water scarcity estimate were assessed through probability representation based on the Monte Carlo simulation using Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS). The natural flow, municipal demand, industrial demand, agricultural demand, and return flow rate were selected as representative input variables for the water balance analysis, and their distributions were set based on the linear regression and the entropy theory. The statistical properties of the output variable samples were analyzed in comparison with a deterministic estimate of the water scarcity of an existing study. Application of LHS to three sub-basins of the Geum river basin showed the deterministic estimate could be overestimated or underestimated. The sensitivity analysis as well as the uncertainty analysis found that the return flow rate of the agricultural water is the most uncertain but is rarely sensitive to the output of the water balance analysis.

The normalized difference in incident solar energy between a target surface and a level surface (overheating index, OHI) is useful in eliminating estimation error of site-specific maximum temperature in complex terrain. Due to the complexity in its calculation, however, an empirical proxy variable called northern exposure index (NEI) which combines slope and aspect has been used to estimate OHI based on empirical relationships between the two. An experiment with real-world landscape and temperature data was carried out to evaluate performance of the NEI - derived OHI (N-OHI) in reduction of spatial interpolation error for daily maximum temperature compared with that by the original OHI. We collected daily maximum temperature data from 7 sites in a mountainous watershed with a $149 km^2$ area and a 795m elevation range ($651{\sim}1,445m$) in Pyongchang, Kangwon province. Northern exposure index was calculated for the entire 166,050 grid cells constituting the watershed based on a 30-m digital elevation model. Daily OHI was calculated for the same watershed ana regressed to the variation of NEI. The regression equations were used to estimate N-OHI for 15th of each month. Deviations in daily maximum temperature at 7 sites from those measured at the nearby synoptic station were calculated from June 2006 to February 2007 and regressed to the N-OHI. The same procedure was repeated with the original OHI values. The ratio sum of square errors contributable by the N-OHI were 0.46 (winter), 0.24 (fall), and 0.01 (summer), while those by the original OHI were 0.52, 0.37 and 0.15, respectively.

Interest points are generally located at the pixels where height changes occur. So, interest points can be the significant pixels for DSM generation, and these have the important role to generate accurate and reliable matching results. Manual operation is widely used to extract the interest points and to match stereo satellite images using these for generating height information, but it causes economic and time consuming problems. Thus, a tie point extraction method using Harris-affine technique and SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) descriptors was suggested to analyze height information of buildings in this study. Interest points on buildings were extracted by Harris-affine technique, and tie points were collected efficiently by SIFT descriptors, which is invariant for scale. Searching window for each interest points was used, and direction of tie points pairs were considered for more efficient tie point extraction method. Tie point pairs estimated by proposed method was used to analyze height information of buildings. The result had RMSE values less than 2m comparing to the height information estimated by manual method.

After development of GPS in the 1960's, the United States released SA(Selective Availability) in 2000 and then the GPS has become commercialized to the present. The result of repeatedly developed GPS observation, the GPS real-time observation methods is RTK which basically always needs two base stations and has a fault of the accuracy decreasing as the distance between a mobile station and a receiver is increasing. Because of these weakness, VRS method has come out. VRS(Virtual Reference Station) generates the imaginary point near mobile station from several observatory datum of GPS, sets the accurate location of mobile station, thus shows high reliability and mobility. Now, the cadastral datum point is used with azimuth, repetition, and graphical traversing method for traverse network. The result of measurement indicates many problems because of different accomplishment interval given point, restrictions on the length of the conductor, many errors on the observations. So, this study did comparative analysis of the cadastral datum points through VRS method by Continuously Operating Reference Station. Through the above comparative analysis, The comparative result between surveyed result with repetition method through total station observed Cadastral Control Points and surveyed result with VRS-RTK has shown that average error of x-axis is -0.08m, average error of y-axis, +0.07m and average distance error is +0.11m.
