A Study on Application of Transverse Flux Linear Motor to Indexer System (인덱서 시스템에 대한 횡축형 선형 전동기의 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The servo motor is used for the driving power source of the conventional linear conveyor system. The mechanical power transfer system is needed for converting the circular to the linear operation. But this system causes some problems of position error, the necessity of the periodical maintenance. In this paper the study on application of transverse flux linear motor(TFLM) is carried out for the indexer system of LCD processing because TFLM has much thrust per a volume than the conventional motor. TFLM is suitable system for the indexer system because of capacity of acceleration, maximum speed and precision of the position, etc.

Position and load-swing control of a 2-dimensional overhead crane (2차원 천정크레인의 위치 및 이송물의 흔들림제어)

  • In this paper, a new nonlinear dynamic model is derived for a 2-dimensional overhead crane based on a new definition of 2-degree-of-freedom swing angle, and a new anti-swing control law is proposed for the crane. The dynamic model and control law take simultaneous travel and traverse motions of the crane into consideration. The model is first linearized for small motions of the crane load about the vertical stable equilibrium. Then the model becomes decoupled and symmetric with respect to the travel and traverse axes of the crane. From this result, a decoupled anti-swing control law is proposed based on the linearized model via the loop shaping and root locus methods. This decoupled method guarantees not only fast damping of load-swing but also zero steady state position error with optimal transient response for the 2-dimensional motion of the crane. Finally, the proposed control method is evaluated by controlling the simultaneous travel and traverse motions of a 2-dimensional prototype overhead crane. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is then proven by the experimental results.

  • This paper describes the application of the variable structure control(VSC) concept for the position control of an electro-hydraulic servomotor system. The basic philosopy of VSC is that the structure of the feedback control is altered as the state crosses discontinuity surfaces in the state space with the result that certain desirable properties are achieved. The switching of the control function yields total(or selective) invariance to system parameter variations and disturbances, and closed loop eigen value placement in time-varing and uncertain systems. The control scheme is derived, implemented and tested in the laboratory where analog controller have been used to control the representive servosystem. The control system schematics are given and simple results are shown for illustration. And the results of variable structure system for the electro-hydraulic servomotor were compared to that of the fixed structure system when load disturbance and system parameter variation exists.

Position Control of an Electro-hydraulic Servo System with Disturbance (외란을 갖는 전기유압 서보시스템의 위치제어)

  • In a hydraulic control system, since a hydraulic cylinder drives a relatively large mass of an object, an external load force acts as a disturbance on the control performance of the system. Additionally, as the hydraulic system is used for a long period, there are disturbances that occur gradually, such as a drop in supply pressure because of abrasion of the pump, oil leakage from a valve, and oil leakage from a cylinder. In this study, a state feedback controller based on a linearization technique is applied. To prevent the performance degradation of the controller from the load disturbance, an Extended Luenberger observer (ELO) is used for the Extended system. The case of using the proportional controller, which is a representative linear controller, and the result of using the controller designed in this study are compared and reviewed through simulation. Also, we propose an experimental gain-setting method for a state feedback controller that can be used at industrial sites, and examine how the stability and control performance of the system changes because of the disturbance inputs through the experimental results.

Development of Bent Glass Automatic Shaping System using PC-based Parallel Distributed Control Scheme (PC기반 병렬 분산제어방식을 이용한 곡면유리 자동성형기 개발)

  • This paper presents the parallel distributed control scheme for shaping of the bent glass. The designed system consists of a PC, a main controller and 11 servo-controllers, the precision motion controllers. Each elements are connected by using RS-232C and 8-bit data bus. In order to guarantee the stability and the control performance, we use a precision PID motion controller and a H-bridge on the servo-drivers. PC calculates position values of 11 DC motors by using the pre-determined curvature value and offers the user interface environment operator. The main controller provides the control instructions and parameter values to 11 servo-controllers by chip enable signal, simultaneously. Using the received commands and parameter values, the servo-controllers control the positions of the DC motors based on PID control scheme.

  • In general, multiple hydraulic servo actuators are installed on one control surface of aero-dynamically highly loaded condition aircraft for redundancy management to satisfy flight control safety requirements. If motions of multiple actuators are not synchronized, control surface is deformed from its free stressed state. In result, force fight conditions are generated on each actuator due to restoration reaction force of deformed control surface. In addition, force fight is induced from severe initial rigging tolerance. Force fight condition of multiple actuators affects control accuracies and reduces operational life of actuators and control surface due to fatigue phenomenon. In this study, we designed controller using force feedback to reduce force fight of duplex servo actuation system.

  • A controller design procedure for an electro-hydraulic positioning systems has been developed using $H{\infty}$ control. The generalized plant models and weighting function for multiplicative uncertainty modelling error was presented along with $H{\infty}$ controller designs in order to investigate the robust stability and performance. Both disturbance rejection and command tracking performances were improved with the $H{\infty}$ controller, and the better uniformity of time response is achieved across wide range of operating conditions than the PID, LQR and LQG control scheme. The multiplicative uncertainty case was specifically suited for the design of an electro-hydraulic positioning control systems using $H{\infty}$ control.

  • Recent general Press brake has many problems in cutting high accurate products in the progress of industry. Previous hand-operated press brake needs many pre-processing works to adjust bending ang1e and marking-off works to calculate bending length. Also, the hand-operating work makes many geometric errors and has difficulty for variety-mass production. To solve these problems, this paper proposes Computer Numerical Control (CNC) general press brake and development of servo-control system based on database for reduction of geometric errors and pre-processing work time and high accuracy bending work.

  • The effect of a variant drain orifice damping on the characteristics of a servovalve flapper-nozzle stage is analyzed. Steady-state characteristics of flapper-nozzle stage and the linearized dynamics of flapper-nozzle assembly with a spool valve show that the variant drain orifice damping could improve such null performance characteristics as null pressure sensitivity and linearity of gain function. Generalized design criterion and a sufficient condition for servovalve stability are also established.
