  • Infrasound signals associated with the 29 May 2004 offshore Uljin earthquake (Mw 5.1) were recorded at infrasound arrays of CHNAR (epicentral distance of 321 km) and TJNAR (256 km). Back-azimuths, indicating the directions to source locations, varied more than 28° broadly for the long-lasting signals over several minutes. From the analysis of the back-projecting location method and attenuation correction for infrasound propagation, the infrasound waves were to be generated by the interaction (diffraction) between seismic waves and topography in an area of ~4,600 ㎢ connecting the Samcheok-Uljin-Pohang regions. The maximum sound source pressure (BSP) was estimated to be 11.1 Pa. This result was consistent with the peak sound pressure (PSP) calculated by the Rayleigh integral approximation to the peak ground acceleration (PGA) dataset. In addition, the minimum PGA that was detectable at the two arrays was estimated to be ~3.0 cm s-2. Although the earthquake occurred offshore, diffracted infrasound signals were effectively generated by ground motions when seismic surface waves passed through high-topographic regions in the eastern Korean Peninsula. The relationship between infrasound source pressure and PGA can be applicable to characterize the ground motions in areas with insufficient seismological observatories.

  • The focused MVDR (Minimum Variance Distortionless Response) can be applied for source localization in near field. However, if the number of sensors are increased, it requires a large amount of calculation to obtain the inverse of the covariance matrix. In this paper we propose a focused MVDR method using that beam space is formed from output of far field beamformer at the subarray. The performances of the proposed method was evaluated by simulation. As a result of simulation, the proposed method has the higher spatial resolution performance then the conventional delay-and-sum beamformer.

  • The Interaction between tire and road is responsible for the excited vibration of the tire, and It is also important for the sound radiation. In this paper. measurement of tire structural vibration noise from a chassis dynamometer using Spatial Transformation of Sound Field(STSF) technique is studied. STSF involving a scan that uses an array of transducers over a planar surface close to the source is under investigation. From cross spectra measurement during the scan, a principal component representing the sound field is extracted. Any power descriptor of the near field can then be investigated by means of near-field acoustic holography, while the distant field can be determined by application of Helmholtz integral equation. The results of the measurement were used to obtain the radiation sound pattern from the center line of the tire, and to locate the radiation sound generating regions in the vicinity of the tire.

  • In this Paper, we Propose synthetic aperture technique for twin-line may. Sin91e-line way is required long aperture size in order to achieve high SNR and angular resolution in shallow water Ultra low frequency signal from far-field has left-right ambiguity at sing1e-line array. To resolve these Problems, we'd like to adopt the synthetic aperture technique to twin-line array. The synthetic aperture method adopts coherent processing of sub-aperture signals at successive tine intervals in the beam domain. The proposed method shows low nile error and improved angular resolution. In simulation result, average sidelobe level is reduced about 7〔dB〕when the array Peformed 5-synthesis.

  • In this study, mortality, body wet weight, health assessment, and short-term behavioral mode were observed to determine the effects of ultrasound on the ecological response of the carp Cyprinus carpio. Mortality in the treatments was less than 5% during ultrasound exposure (31 dB re 1 ${\mu}Pa$, $14{\sim}15$ kHz) and there were no significant differences among the replicates (P>0.05). The treatments, based on mean wet weight, exhibited greater effect than the controls, but the magnitude of the differences was not large. Skins and tail fins of some test animals exposed to the controls and intensive treatment groups had light injury such as hemorrhaging, whereas, damages in other organs such as eyes, other fins, parasites, thymus, and gills were not observed (P>0.05). Sudden stimuli in low intensity at a short distance caused a directional avoidance of the fish from the sound. However, the carp exposed to ultrasound at the large scale field was not observed clear behavior changes. Overall results suggest that fish exposed to the low-intensity ultrasound had no serious stress during the tests.

  • Due to technological advances, the cruising speed of high-speed trains is increasing, and aerodynamic noise generated from the flow outside the train has been an important consideration in the design stage. To accurately predict the flow-induced noise, high-resolution generation of sound sources in the near field and low-dissipation of sound propagation in the far field are required. This should be accompanied by a numerical grid and time resolution that can properly consider both temporal and spatial scales for each component of the real high-speed train. To overcome these challenges, this research simultaneously calculates the external flow and acoustic fields of five high-speed train cars of real-scale and at operational running speeds using a threedimensional unsteady Large Eddy Simulation technique. To verify the numerical analysis, the measurements of the wall pressure fluctuation and numerical results are compared. The Ffowcs Williams and Hawking equation is used to predict the acoustic power radiated from the high-speed train. This research is expected to contribute to noise reduction based on the analysis of the aerodynamic noise generation mechanism of high-speed trains.
