A study on the long distance data transmission of underwater acoustic sensor (수중 음향센서의 원거리 데이터 전송에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is a study result on long distance transmission of underwater acoustic sensor data over cable. The data transceiver is designed using the LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) transmission scheme, and the jitter characteristics are analyzed by measuring the long distance transmission signal through the cable. In order to reduce the jitter, a pre-emphasis technique is applied to compensate the transmitting signal to be attenuated by long distance transmission, and the transmission characteristics were verified according to the distance.

  • 본 논문에서는 TCP/IP 기반에서 웨이블릿 변환과 인터넷을 이용 원거리에 있는 Device를 PDA로 제어하는 영상감시 솔루션에 대해 연구하였다. 우선 서버는 카메라를 이용하여 영상을 획득하고 획득한 영상에 대해 2단계 웨이블릿 변환을 한 후, 인터넷을 통해 Client(PDA)로 전송한다. PDA는 수신한 프레임만을 가지고 역 웨이블릿 변환을 하고 사용자에게 영상을 보여주게 된다. 카메라는 스텝 모터와 마이크로프로세서 80C196KC에 의해서 컨트롤되고, 사용자는 서버에서 보내는 영상을 PDA를 이용해서 감시한다. 그리고 PDA를 이용 원거리에 있는 서버 80C196KC에 제어 신호를 보내고 자신이 원하는 영상을 감시할 수 있다.

A Study on Near-Field to Far-Field Transformation Using Stratton-Chu Formula (Stratton-Chu 공식을 이용한 측정된 근거리장에서 원거리장으로의 변환에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with the near-field to far-field calculation for far-field characteristics of antenna and electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) testing. Since the conventional EMC testing process is inefficient such as measurements of the wide band signals and mega structures, Stratton-Chu formula is used to predict the far-field emission by simple and direct process. The usefulness of Stratton-Chu formula is verified by comparing to the analytic solution of the uniform distribution aperture in free-space. In order to inspect the far-fields and to get the near-field values, full-wave simulation solver is utilized. Through the full-wave simulation about the patch antenna, calculated far-field results from Stratton-Chu formula are proven. The predicted magnitudes of the far-field are in error by less than 6 %.

Radar Data Correction for Long Distance Observation In Coastal Zone (해안지역 내 원거리 레이더관측자료의 보정에 관한 연구)

  • In the coastal zone, to draw up short and medium range weather forecasts, mesoscale pluviogenic systems coming from the sea have to be observed in real time. These observations use remote sensing. However, satellite remote sensing is not sufficient to describe pluviogenic systems; reference to radar long distance observations is indispensable. This paper deals with the corrections, which must be made to long distance radar data if the rainfall field is to be both accurately and quantitatively defined. The error due to vertical variation in the reflectivity factor can be corrected from estimation of the mean profiles or by a climatic adjustment method. Atten-uation in the propagation can be corrected by an iterative polarimetric method. These various correc-tions permit the distance validity limits of radar data to be extended.

원거리 지진자료로부터 유추된 한반도의 P파 도달시간 이상에 대한 연구

  • P wave travel-time delays have been analyzed and average travel-time anomalies due to lateral variation of the crustal structure have been calculated at the broad-band earthquake observatories of Korea Meteorology Administration (KMA) using the teleseismic deata collected during the period from 2000 to 2001. Maximum variation in the relative travel-time residuals is almost 1.5 seconds Azimuthal variation in the travel-time residuals is observed to indicate the existence of lateral P velocity heterogeneity beneath the stations with velocity contrasts of -4~4%. The estimated average travel-time delays are ranging from 0.05 to 0.3 seconds at the stations including Seoul, Chuncheon, Kanneung, Uljin, and Ulleung Island showing slow velocity contrasts of 0~4% P through the crust. Faster velocity contrasts of 0~4% have been observed at the stations including Seosan, Taejeon, Daegu, Seoguipo, and Busan showing average travel-time delays ranging from -0.05 to -0.3 seconds.

It also examines some of the other controversial issues that are confronting public libraries as they implement technological change.

  • A nonlinear shaping method for a wire antenna is presented to improve the limited pulse radiation ability due to the frequency characteristics with nulls which are found in the conventional straight or V antennas. The developed scheme is based on the minimization of frequency-dependence of the radiated electric field intensity over wide band, hence giving the ripple-type frequency characteristics. It is shown that the synthesized shape has more advantage in the case of shorter pulse. That is, we found that for shorter pulse exciting, the radiated peak value of the synthesized antenna is larger than that of the conventional linear antenna. The inverse discrete Fourier transform based on the moment method is used for the transient analysis of current distribution and far field electric field.

Vision-based Real-Time Two-dimensional Bar Code Detection System at Long Range (비전 기반 실시간 원거리 2차원 바코드 검출 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a real-time two-dimensional bar code detection system even at long range using a vision technique. We first perform short-range detection, and then long-range detection if the short-range detection is not successful. First, edge map generation, image binarization, and connect component labeling (CCL) are performed in order to select a region of interest (ROI). After interpolating the selected ROI using bilinear interpolation, a location symbol pattern is detected as the same as for short-range detection. Finally, the symbol pattern is arranged by applying inverse perspective transformation to localize bar codes. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system successfully detects bar codes at two or three times longer distance than existing ones even at indoor environment.

Review on the Relative Sea-level Changes in the Yellow Sea during the Late Holocene (한반도 서해안의 후기 홀로세 해수면 변동 곡선에 대한 검토)

  • In this paper, we review previous studies on the relative sea-level changes in the Yellow Sea during the Holocene to comprehensive understand the various research results. Currently, it is reported two theories : 1) the Holocene sea-level has never been higher than the present-day level; and 2) sea-level have reached highstand during mid-Holocene, followed by slow lowering to that of the present. The first theory yields a curve that is similar to a climate-change-related eustatic sea-level curve. However, in reality, most of the relative sea-level fluctuation resulted from land uplift or subsidence. The second theory yields a curve that is fairly coincident with a relative sea-level curve indicative of continental margins being located away from the ice sheets(i.e., far-field), and is considered as an effect of GIA(Glacio Isostatic Adjustment) and gravitational attraction. Based on detailed review of previous researches, we realized that they sourced the same papers, but obtained different results because they selectively chose and added the data. The data used to derive the second theory pertain to the northern Gunsan region, which is located within the western area of the Chugaryeong fault. Thus, we believe that the sea-level curve for the second theory is only representative of the area north of Gunsan, which is subject to GIA and tectonic deformation. Although the relative sea-level curve for the west coastal area is comparable to that for the far-field continental margin region, it is necessary to evaluate local tectonic activities as suggested by active seismicity in the west coastal area and the more than 400 faults currently existing in on the Korean Peninsula.

  • 레이더(Radio Detection and Ranging)는 전파를 방사하여 그 반사파에 의해 목표의 존재 유무, 거리, 상태 등을 확인하기 위한 무선장치를 말한다. 이와 같은 특성의 레이더를 사용하면 인간의 눈이나 감각으로 확인할 수 없는 여러 가지 정보들을 원거리에서 감지할 수 있으며 그 결과를 파악하여 대처할 수 있도록 해준다. 이러한 다양한 정보를 센싱하는 레이더 기능을 구현하기 위해서는 많은 정보를 포함할 수 있는 광대역 주파수 이용과 많은 반복 펄스의 송수신신호를 필요로 하게 되며 이러한 초광대역 주파수 특성의 극단 임펄스를 이용한 레이더 센싱 기술이 디지털 신호처리와 RF 기술 발전에 따라 급속한 기술발전이 이루어지고 있으며 응용 범위도 다양한 분야로 확장되고 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 새로운 레이더 방식으로 부각되고 있는 UWB 레이더의 국내외 기술동향을 소개하고자 한다.
