  • Hydrogymnastics so that sufficient exercise effect can be obtained using the resistance of water has a positive effect on patients who have to receive arthritis or rehabilitation treatment. However, the studies on the effect are insufficient, and the main cause of their effects has not been unclear yet. In this study, in order to identify the main cause of the effects of Hydrogymnastics, conducted Unsteady fluid flow simulation under the same conditions as the actual environment. The analysis model based on real hands, and the pressure fluctuation applied to the knuckle was analyzed by the computational fluid method. During the underwater movement of the hands, Various sizes of vortices were generated between fingers due to skin surface velocity and flow resistance. Pressure of about -500 Pa to +500 Pa is applied by the vortex flow. Also It was confirmed that the positive pressure and the negative pressure were continuously repeated up to maximum + 2000 Pa at the minimum of -2000 Pa at the portion where the direction was changed. Pressure fluctuations with a frequency of 20 Hz to 70 Hz were added continuously for each knuckle. These continuous pressure fluctuations provide a direct massage effect on the knuckles, an It is judged that the blood circulation at the relevant part is positively affected.

  • Recently many studies have reported that total and bioavailable androgens reduced in male and female athletes and that physical exercise reduces the body weight and increases the reproductive abnormalities such as oligomenorrhea, anovulation, inadequate luteal phase, and delayed puberty in women by the inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis . In addition, high mileage endurance 겨nning, psychological stress, and military endurance training in men also reduce the secretion of reproductive hormones. To investigate the efffcts of physical endurance exercise on the secretion of reproductive hormones in men, androgenic hormones from adrenal glands and testis were measured in serum by the conventional radioimmunoassays after long-term (more than3 months), short-term (1 week), and acute (1${sim}$2 hours) physical exercises. Androgenic hormones from adrenal glands and testis such as total testosterone (TT), free testosterone (fT), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and androstenedione (A) decreased after thesestrenuous endurance trainings, whereas ACTH, cortisol, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfetes (DHEAS) increased. Conadotropins (LH and FSH) were not idluenced by the physical exercises. Based upon the present results, we assume that the decrease in adrenal and testicular androgens by physical endurance exercises might be associated with the reproductive abnormalities in athletes by unknown factor(s) in addition to the HPG axis disturbance.

  • Exercise programs for elderly users are operated by each department and facility, but it is not enough to visualize exercise prescription and effect followed by elderly users physical conditions. The purpose of this study is to suggest exercise prescription for elderly users with a visual path map. A visual path map is to visually present types of users classified according to physical strength conditions, the process of exercise prescription, and effects of exercise. Exercise prescription is divided into four stages: analysis of physical conditions, exercise prescription by the visual path map, smart exercise prescription, and exercise for elderly users. The first stage, analysis of physical conditions is to classify physical conditions by each type by mechanically learning elderly users' physical test values. The second stage, exercise prescription by the visual path map, is to present exercise prescription suitable for elderly users' physical conditions. The third stage, smart exercise prescription, is to offer exercise prescription of the day when exercise is carried out using elderly users' smart phones in consideration of their situations. The fourth stage, exercise for elderly users, is to provide information by their smart phones when they exercise. In conclusion, this study will be able to induce elderly users to do continuous exercise by motivating them.

  • This study was aimed to examine the effects of intermittent walking on health related fitness and metabolic syndrome risk factors in elderly women. Forty five elderly women were randomly assigned to three groups: three 10-min walks per day, one 30-min walk per day or no exercise, respectively. Both walking groups exercised three days a week at moderate intensity for 12 weeks. Two-way repeated measures ANOVA was used to test the hypothesis with a significant level of α = .05. The results indicated that body composition(body weight, body mass index, percent body fat), muscle endurance, flexibility and cardiorespiratory fitness significantly increased after 12 weeks for both walking groups. However, it was found that muscle strength significantly increased only in a continuous walking group. Metabolic syndrome risk factors comprised of waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, and fasting glucose were significantly improved in both walking groups. In addition, there was a difference in these metabolic syndrome risk factors between pre and post exercise. The results of this study support the hypothesis that intermittent walking has a significant impact on health related physical fitness and metabolic syndrome rick factors in elderly women as continuous walking does.
