SUH35/SUH3 마찰용접 접합계면에 대한 잔류응력 특이성의 해석 (Analysis of Residual Stress Singularities on Interfaces of Friction Welded SUH35/SUH3)

  • With increasing use of SUH35/SUH3 dissimilar materials for automotive engine valves, it is required that stress singularities under residual stress on an interface for friction welded dissimilar materials analyzed to establish strength evaluation. The stress singularity $index{\lambda}$ and stress singularities $factor{\Gamma}$ were calculated from using the results of stress analysis to consider residual stress and loads. The stress singularities on variations for shapes and thickness of welded flashes were analyzed and discussed. This paper suggested that the strength evaluation by using the stress singularity factors as fracture parameters, considering the stress singularity on an interface edge of friction welded dissimilar materials will be useful.

  • In this paper, the stress singularity on interface of friction welded dissimilar materials was investigated by using 2-dimensional elastic boundary element method. It is required that stress distributions and stress singularities on an interface for friction welded dissimilar materials analize to establish strength evaluation. The stress singularity index ($\lambda$) and stress singularity factor ($\Gamma$) were calculated from the results of stress analysis. The stress singularities on variations for shapes and thickness of friction welded flashes were analized and discussed. This paper suggested that the strength evalution by using the stress singularity factors as fracture parameters, considering the stress singularity on an interface edge of friction welded dissimilar materials were very useful.

Al/Cu 마찰용접부의 파단분석 (Failure analyses of friction welded Al/Cu joints)

  • The microstructure and fractography of the friction welded joint of Al to Cu have been investigated in order to understand the formation of intermetallic compounds and their effects on the failure in tensile test of the joint. The variation of welding pressure did not affect significantly the tensile strength of joint. However, the tensile strength of joint decreaed as welding time increased. The thickness of reaction layers of welded joints was several micro-meters and mainly composed of intermetallic compounds of $CuAl_2$, $Cu_9Al_4$ and Al+$CuAl_2$. The thickness of $CuAl_2$, $Cu_9Al_4$ was increased with welding time. However, $CuAl_2$ was gradually changed to $Cu_9Al_4$ which caused the decrease of tensile strength . Even though the morphology of fractured surfaces depended upon the welding time, the failure occurred along $CuAl_2$ intermetallic compound itself or between $CuAl_2$ and $Cu_9Al_4$ in most cases.

  • The present study was aimed at investigating the effect of welding parameters such as welding current, electrode force(or squeeze force) and parts cleaning on the sound weld, and establishing the most reliable weld conditions for HWP(Heavy Water Reactor) fuel end capping with the resistance upset butt welding. Major results obtained are as follows. 1. The amount of sound weld was increased with increasing weld current(5.0-11KA) because the activated diffusion with increasing heat generation played an important role in eliminating the porosity and weld line in the weld interface. 2. It was found that weld current was not significantly influenced by the electrode force although the increase of it caused a slight increase of weld current and upset deformation. 3. Acetone rinsing before drying for the Zircaloy-4 end cap cleaning produced the reliable sound weld because it would remove the remaining solvent and surface films, and provided the uniform contact between the end cap and the tube. 4. The optimum welding conditions for fuel end capping by a resistance upset hytt welding are obtained as follows. weld current: 10-11KA, electrode force: 62-90KPa parts cleaning: vapor degreasing.rarw.water, acetone rinsing.rarw.drying.

  • 발전 및 산업설비에 사용되는 많은 압력용기는 저합금강을 사용하여 제작되고 있다. 압력용기의 내면은 부식이 미치는 영향을 최소화하기 위하여 오스테나이트계 스테인리스강으로 덧살용접을 하고 있으나, 용접층간의 계면에서 발생하고 있는 박리균열은 압력용기의 신뢰성에 중요한 변수가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 DSP를 사용하여 오버레이 용접부를 고속으로 검사할 수 있는 C-scan 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템은 신호 처리부 (오실로스코프, 펄서/리시버, 디지타이저, DSP), 스캐너, 프로그램 및 위치 제어부로 구성되어 있다. 개발된 시스템을 사용하여 실제 오버레이 용접부에 대한 초음파검사를 실시한 결과 고속으로 신뢰성 높은 검사결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

매설 가스 배관 이종금속 용접부의 강도 불일치가 잔류응력에 미치는 영향 고찰 (Investigation on the Effect of Strength Mismatch on Residual Stresses in Welds with Different Strength Used in Buried Natural Gas Pipeline)

  • 본 연구에서는 실제 용접 과정을 모사하는 유한요소 해석을 이용하여 강도 불일치를 가지는 매설 천연가스 배관 용접부의 잔류응력 분포를 계산한다. 유한요소 해석 절차의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 온도 및 잔류응력 해석 결과들은 실제 용융부 형상과 API 579 적용 결과와 비교된다. 기계적 강도 차이, 용접 금속의 강도, 덧살 및 입열량 등과 같은 용접 및 재료 변수들이 잔류응력 분포에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해 Parametric Study가 수행된다. 최종적으로 Parametric Study 결과에 근거하여 용접 및 재료 변수들의 영향이 고찰된다. 특히, 모재들 사이의 강도 불일치는 잔류응력 분포에 미미한 영향을 미침을 확인하였다.

용접재료별 단강 피스톤 크라운 용접부위의 부식특성에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of the corrosion property on the welded zone of forged steel piston crown with types of filler metals)

  • 최근 수년 동안 유가의 현저한 상승으로 인하여 상선의 디젤 기관은 저질 중유를 주로 사용하게 되었다. 따라서 저질 중유의 사용 증가에 따른 디젤 기관의 연소실 배기가스 온도는 점차 상승하여 가혹한 부식 환경에 직면하게 되었다. 그 결과 연소실 주변의 모든 기관 부품들의 부식과 마모는 다른 기관 부품들에 비해서 심각하다. 그러므로 이들 부품들의 적절한 덧살 용접은 수명 연장을 위하여 경제적인 측면에서 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 피스톤 크라운 재질로 통상 사용되는 단강에 4종류의 용접재료로 SMAW와 GTAW로 용접하였다. 실험은 모재, 열영향부 및 용접금속의 부식 특성을 35% 황산용액에서 부식전위, 양극분극 곡선, 사이클릭볼타모그램 및 임피던스 등의 전기화학적인 방법으로 하여 고찰하였다. Inconel 625, 718 용접재료의 경우 용접금속의 내식성이 가장 우수하였고, 모재의 내식성이 가장 좋지 않았으며, 반면에 1.25Cr-0.5Mo와 0.5Mo는 모재가 용접금속에 비해서 더 좋은 내식성을 나타내었다. 또한, 용접금속 중 Inconel 625가 가장 내식성이 우수하였으며, 그 다음으로 Inconel 718 용접재료로 나타났다. 경도 역시 용접금속이 상대적으로 모재, 열영향부에 비해서 높은 값을 나타내었다. 특히 Inconel 718 용접재료의 경우 다른 용접재료에 비하여 가장 높은 경도값을 나타내었다.

  • Digital signal processor (DSP) is used to obtain the peak value and the time difference of ultrasonic signals, to make digital filter, and to derive mathematical transformation from analog circuit. In this study, C-scan system and control program have been developed to high speed data acquisition. This system consists of signal processing parts (DSP, oscilloscope, pulser/receiver, digitizer), scanner, and control program. The developed system has been applied to a practical ultrasonic testing in overlay weld, and demonstrated high speed with precision

피스톤 크라운용 단강에 인코넬 718 용접재료로 용접된 용접부의 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Characteristics of Welding Zones Welded with Inconel 718 Filler Metal to Piston Crown Forged Material)

  • The combustion chamber of a diesel engine is often exposed to a more serious wear and corrosion environment than other parts of the engine because its temperature increases as a result of using heavy oil of low quality. Therefore, repair and built-up welding methods must be performed on worn or corroded parts of the piston crown, exhaust valve, etc. from an economical point of view. In this study, Inconel 718 filler metal was used in repair welding on the groove of a forged steel specimen for a piston crown, along with built-up welding on the surface of another forged steel specimen. Then, the corrosion characteristics of the weld metal zone for the repair welding and the deposited metal zone for the built-up welding were investigated using electrochemical methods in a 35% H2SO4 solution. The deposited metal zone indicated better corrosion resistance than the weld metal zone, showing a nobler corrosion potential, higher impedance, and smaller corrosion current density. It is considered that metal elements with good corrosion resistance were generally included in the filler metal, and these elements were also greatly involved in the deposited meta by built-up welding, whereas the weld metal consisted of metal elements mixed with both the filler metal and base metal elements because of the molten pool produced by the repair welding. Finally, it is considered that the hardness of the weld metal was increased by the repair welding, whereas the built-up welding improved the corrosion resistance of the deposited metal.
