Concrete filled tubular(CFT) members have many structural and constructional advantages. The prefabrication of CFT members can be thought an idea for the good qualify control of concrete. The objective of this study is to suggest the construction method of prefab CFT beam-columns. Tests are performed to understand their structural behaviors. The opening space between prefab CFT members and the size of tubular members are the parameters of this study. The results of this study will be based on the suggestion of prefab CFT.
The arc welding processes are substantially nonlinear, in addition to being highly coupled multivariable systems, Frequently, not all the variables affecting the welding quality are known, nor may they be easily quantified. From this point of view, decoupling between the welding parameters from the welding quality is very difficult, which makes it also difficult to control the welding parameters for obtaining the desired welding quality. In this study, a neural network based on the backpropagation algorithm was implemented and adopted for the selection of gas metal arc welding parameters of the fillet joint, that is, welding current, arc voltage and welding speed. The performance of the neural network for modeling the relationship between the welding quality and welding parameters was presented and evaluated by using the actual welding data. To obtain the optimal neural network structure, various types of the neural network structures were tested with the experimental data. It was revealed that the neural network can be effectively adopted to select the appropriate gas metal arc welding parameter of fillet joints for a given weld quality.

In this study, Non-load-carrying EH Grade steels in fillet welded joints were evaluated with both the hot spot stress method and the 1mm stress method. The thickness effect criterion for fatigue strength evaluation of welded of welded steel structures recommendations of the IIW was used to evaluate the fatigue strength of EH40 and EH36 and Both EH40 and EH36 have been compared with FAT 125 curve recommended in the IIW. Furthermore, fatigue strength of the welded tow and the ground conditions for Non-load-carrying EH36 based on the 1mm stress method has been discussed.

The web of a horizontally curved plate girder bridge is, in general, subject to not only longitudinal flexural in-plane stress but also out-of-plane bending stress. Therefore, the induced stresses in the fillet welded joints at the intersection of the web and flange plates in the curved plate girder bridge can be considerably high, and the welded joints of gusset plates connecting the main girder to the floor beams or sway bracings can be subject to much more severe situation than those in the ordinary straight plate girder bridge. In order to investigate the cause of fatigue crack occurred in a curved girder bridge that has been served in about 23 years, in this study, field load tests have been performed to obtain the stress characteristics at the welded joint under the real traffic flow. Using the test results, we have investigated the causes of the occurrence of various fatigue cracks and have estimated the fatigue lives for the cracks. In addition, the characteristics of structural behavior at welded joint of the curved girder bridge have been examined by comparing the FE analysis and the field test result.
This study was programmed to fabricate a beam-to-column connection that is limited to a steel-welded moment connection with full-scale members, using SN steel. A cyclic seismic test was conducted of the nine specimens that were fabricated by choosing the test variable for the weld access hole geometry, connection design method, and RBS. From the test results, failure modes, the moment-drift behavior, and the strain distribution were provided. From the specimen material properties, the beam's nominal plastic flexural capacity and classified qualified connection as a special moment flame were calculated. By analyzing the skeleton part and the baushinger part, a range of strength-raising effects, and deformation ratios were provided, with which the seismic performance of the specimens were evaluated. The test results showed that the specimens eliminated their weld access holes that demonstrated higher seismic performance than the specimens' existing weld access holes, and that the WUF-W connection that was reinforced by the supplemental fillet weld around the shear tap that was fastened by five bolts demonstrated superior seismic performance.
The stress concentration of the integral welded attachments (IWA) often used to support piping system has been a big issue because it induces local stresses in piping. The method to evaluate local stresses associated with attachments on elbows has been suggested in EPRI TR-107453. However, there are limitations regarding specific parameters range in order to use correlation equation. In this paper, parametric study based on piping elbow size and attachment dimension was performed utilizing finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the secondary stress indices of hollow circular cross section welded attachments on piping elbows with the extended parameters range. The results of the FEA were used to develop correlation formulas for calculating secondary stress indices. The empirical equations in this study are suggested as an alternative evaluation method of EPRI TR-107453 by extending parameters range.
This paper is especially concerned with the weldment between support beam and square bar that plays important roles in control box of Expansion Joint as a brdige structure. Fatigue strength ({TEX}$$\sigma$_{ult}${/TEX}) of the weldment is dependent on notch factor ({TEX}$K_{f}${/TEX}) become important factors to predict fatigue life. The fatigue notch sensitivity (η) for metals can be divided into two types ; high and low notch sensitivity. In this work, the Expansion Joint weldment was found to have low notch sensitivity. The maximum strain distribution during static loading is similar to the FEM analysis. Fatigue test of real structure was performed up to {TEX}$10^{6}${/TEX} cycles to be compared with predicted endurance limit.
