Modelling and Simulation on Non-isothermal Expansion of Water Oversaturated Perlite (퍼라이트 비등온 팽창 모델 및 전산모사)

  • To verify model adaptation and flexibility, non-isothermal simulation for perlite expansion has been carried out. Temperature-dependent perlite properties are applied to energy equations for bubble temperature change and perlite melt temperature gradient. Bubble temperature is changed with volume change, water evaporation, and heat flux from melt. Temperature gradient of perlite melt is affected by decreasing bubble temperature. As a result, prediction model and code have been developed below 1100 K with 5% accuracy. At 1100~1400 K, lower 7% accuracy has been obtained from the calculation results.

Development of the Geoid Model in Korean Peninsula referred to Bessel Ellipsoid (베셀타원체상에서의 한반도 지오이드 모델의 개발)

  • This paper deals with the geoid modelling in and around Korean peninsula referred to Bessel ellipsoid. Several useful data were used to compute precise geoidal heights referred to GRS80 by remove and restore technique and FFT technique was used to evaluate Stokes' integral. All grid point elevations extracted from GTOPO 30 and Bessel coordinates of all grid point were computed through coordinates transformation by applying three transformation parameters. Finally, geoidal heights referred to Bessel ellipsoid were calculated by geometric method. As the results of this study, a precise gravimetric geoid model referred to GRS80 (KOGGDM33) and geoid model referred to Bessel ellipsoid(KOBGDM33) in and around Korean peninsula were developed. KOBGDM33 shows the gradual distribution of geoidal heights from -91.8 m in Yongampo to -39.0 m in the straits of Korea.

The Distribution Characteristics of Tourism Resources on Surrounding Open Caves (관광동굴 주변 관광자원의 유형별 분포 특성)

  • This study is basic research to present the activation of cave tourism. So first of all for establishing of this study, we examined the distribution characteristics of natural caves and monument caves. The results of this study are as follows; First, monument caves concentrate upon Gangwon-do and Jeju-do. Second, open caves concentrate upon Gangwon-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. Third, typical linkage characteristics of tourism resources surrounding open caves are very high in natural tourism resources. Fourth, It is necessary to develop tourism route though the linkage with other tourism resources. But this study have been partial and fragmentary. in order to increase the number of tourists, we should make them curious about the specific region by presenting the unique characteristics of the region, for example its cultural, social, recreational etc. in other words, in order to attract the tourists open caves should differentiate from other open caves.

  • In this study, we analyzed the volcanic rock and scoria samples taken from special sites of Jeju island in two ways at the room temperature. One is the analysis of the chemical composition using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, the other is the analysis of minerals in the samples, oxidized iron's genus, valence state and magnetic properties using X-ray diffractometry and Mossbauer spectroscopy. We believe that the volcanic rock and scoria samples are chiefly made of silicate minerals, like SiO$_2$, and they also have olivine, pyroxene, ilmenite, hematite and magnetite. The major Fe fractions of the volcanic rock samples are 2+ charge state and those of the scoria samples are 3+ charge state.

  • In order to study the successional trend and the heterogeneity of forest community, we investigated DBH frequency distribution of dominant tree species and the changes of several community indicies including ${\beta}-diversity\;({\beta}_t)$ along a belt transect in Mt. Yongam, Kwangnung Experimental Forest, which has been preserved for about 530 years. Quercus serrata, Carpinus laxiflora, and C. cordata were the three dominant species and their DBH frequency distribution showed a reverse J-shaped form, so these species seem to maintain by themselves. Dominancediversity curve had a lognormal distribution. d and H'for pooled quadrats were 0.13 and 1.09, respectively, but these indices within each quadiat varied with the range of 0.13 to 0.57 and 0.5 to 1.09, respectively. The value of ${\beta}_t$ along the belt transect ranged from 0.14 to 0.42. These results suggest that this forest community is in the stable climax stage but the components experience a heterogeneous microsuccession.

  • Udo is the site of a short-lived monogenetic submarine volcanic vent which builts basaltic clastic deposits below sea level, by early Surtseyan-type explosive eruption and later effusive lava eruptions. Mineral assemblage, major and trace element chemistry indicate that the Someori sub-alkaline lava flows were related to the WPTB(within plate tholeiitic basalt) rather than IAT(island-arc tholeiite) and that the geotectonic regime of Korean Peninsula went away from the subduction zone after the Later Miocene.

Effects of MH, FA, Flumetralin and Butralin Applications on Sucker Control of Flue-cured Tobacco (황색종 담배에서 MH, FA, Flumetralin 및 Butralin의 처리방법이 곁순억제에 미치는 영향)

  • Experiments were conducted to evaluated the sucker control efficiency of several suckercides and their combinations for flue-cured tobacco in Korea. In 1999, Flumetralin(Prime+, P+), Butralin(B), Fatty alcohol(FA, n-decanol 85%), pottasium salt of maleic hydrazide(MH), tank mix of MH with P+ (MH·P+), and another tank mix of MH with FA(MH·FA) were applied after topping, respectively, then sucker number and sucker dry weight were investigated on the 30th and 50th day from treatment. Sucker number and dry weight were significantly lowered by P+, B, FA and MH·P+ applications compared with those of MH and MH·FA for both investigated periods. A significant reduction in sucker number and dry weight was observed in P+, B, and MH·P+ applications. FA treatment was not so much effective in sucker control as P+. In 1999 and 2000, several suckercides and tank mixes of their combinations were applied first at button stage and second after topping, respectively, to compare the effects of sucker control on yield, price index and chemical components of cured leaves. Compared to the standard method of FA 30x at button stage followed by MH40x application after topping(FA 30x + MH 40x), sucker number and dry weight decreased by [FA 30x (or P+ 1%] or [FA 30x(or B 1.5%) + MH 60x·B 1.5%] treatments, even at reduced MH levels. But yield, price index and chemical components of cured leaves were not differed among treatments.

  • The experiment was conducted with three varieties (Hicks, Burley 21, and Sohyang) and cultivation type (Improved mulching, general mulching, and non mulching) of NC 2326 to model to curve of tabacco growth against time. The basic growth data were obtained by harvest method at intervals of ten days from transplanting at 7-8 times and analyzed by polynomial regression, orthogonal polynomial, and logarithmic transformation. It is shown that the C model of growth curve: T = A +$\sqrt{(1.4 AK + K)}$2K provides an excellent fit.

  • 인간이 농업 등으로 물을 사용하기 위하여 하천에 인위적으로 구조물을 설치하여야 한다. 이들 구조물은 대부분이 농업용 보로 과거 농업중심의 사회에서 논과 밭 등에 물을 공급하기 위하여 설치하였다. 하지만 농촌의 도시화 및 농지의 변경 등으로 인하여 농업용 보는 사용량이 감소하였으며, 최근 급격한 도시화로 인하여 많은 보들이 용도폐기 되었다. 한국농어촌공사에서는 매년 용도폐기된 구조물을 확인하고 있으며, 이에 대한 리스트를 보유하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 한국농어촌공사의 용도폐기 된 보 중 한강권역 왕숙천 수계 중심으로 조사를 실시하였다. 폐기보에 대한 위치 확인을 위하여 한국농어촌공사로부터 제공받은 폐기보 현황자료(보명 및 하천명, 주소)를 바탕으로 우리가람길라잡이, 국가어도정보시스템, 웹지도 등을 활용하여 위치 및 존재 여부 파악하였으며, 현장조사를 위하여 위치분석 자료를 바탕으로 현장조사가 용이하도록 별도의 웹자료를 구축하였다. 현장조사는 구조물의 주변의 토지이용현황, 구조물의 존재여부, 구조물의 규모 실측(길이/높이/폭 등), 어도의 유무, 바닥보호공의 유무, 구조물 훼손 정도 등을 파악하였다. 왕숙천 수계의 보는 왕숙천 본류구간에는 4개의 폐기보가 있으며, 용암천은 9개, 사능천은 2개 학림천은 1개로 총 16개의 폐기보가 있는 것을 확인되었다.

Taxonomical Classification and Genesis of Jeju Series in Jeju Island (제주도 토양인 제주통의 분류 및 생성)

  • Jeju Island is a volanic island which is located about 96 km south of Korean Peninsula. Volcanic ejecta, and volcaniclastic materials are widespread as soil parent materials throughout the island. Soils on the island have the characteristics of typical volcanic ash soils. This study was conducted to reclassify Jeju series based on the second edition of Soil Taxonomy and to discuss the formation of Jeju series in Jeju Island. Morphological properties of typifying pedon of Jeju series were investigated, and physico-chemical properties were analyzed according to Soil survey laboratory methods manual. The typifying pedon has dark brown (10YR 3/3) silt clay loam A horizon (0~22 cm), strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) silty clay BAt horizon (22~43 cm), brown (7.5YR 4/4) silty clay Bt1 horizon (43~80 cm), brown (7.5YR 4/6) silty clay loamBt2 horizon (80~105 cm), and brown (10YR 5/4) silty clay loam Bt3 horizon (105~150 cm). It is developed in elevated lava plain, and are derived from basalt, and pyroclastic materials. The typifying pedon contains 1.3~2.1% oxalate extractable (Al + 1/2 Fe), less than 85%phosphate retention, and higher bulk density than 0.90 Mg $m^{-3}$. That can not be classified as Andisol. But it has an argillic horizon from a depth of 22 to 150 cm, and a base saturation (sum of cations) of less than 35% at 125 cm below the upper boundary of the argillic horizon. That can be classified as Ultisol, not as Andisol. Its has 0.9% or more organic carbon in the upper 15 cm of the argillic horizon, and can be classified as Humult. It dose not have fragipan, kandic horizon, sombric horizon, plinthite, etc. in the given depths, and key out as Haplohumult. A hoizon (0~22 cm) has a fine-earth fraction with both a bulk density of 1.0 Mg $cm^{-3}$ or less, and Al plus 1/2 Fe percentages (by ammonium oxalate) totaling more than 1.0. Thus, it keys out as Andic Haplohumult. It has 35% or more clay at the particle-size control section, and has thermic soil temperature regime. Jeju series can be classified as fine, mixed, themic family of Andic Haplohumults, not as ashy, thermic family of Typic Hapludands. In the western, and northern coastal areas which have a relatively dry climate in Jeju Island, non Andisols are widely distributed. Mean annual precipitation increase 110 mm, and mean annual temperature decrease $0.8^{\circ}C$ with increasing elevation of 100m. In the western, and northern mid-mountaineous areas Andisols, and non Andisols are distributed simultaneously. Jeju series distributed mainly in the western and northern mid-mountaineous areas are developed as Ultisols with Andic subgroup.
