Urea and ammonium sulfate without and with sulfur group, respectively, were compared with respect to their nutritive effects on the rice plants, Suweon 264 and Jinheung, under the nursery trial on the protected upland and lowland seedbed, the pot trials with their various combination ratios and with added sodium sulfate to urea and the trials on the paddy fields which have undergone urea and ammonium sulfate application for many years. The rice seedlings fertilized with ammonium sulfate surpassed those with urea in growth performance and nutrients absorption of the rice seedlings at nursery period. Such stimulating effect of ammonium sulfate on the growth and nutrients uptake was more remarkable under the upland nursery than under the lowland one. The pot trial with the various combination ratios of urea and ammonium sulfate revealed that the chlorophyll content in leaf blade increased with the increment of sulfate ratio in the combination and the sole application of urea caused the chlorosis of leaf which was more conspicuous in Suweon 264 than in Jinheung. Fertilized with the same active ingradient amount of nitrogen, the rice plants supplied with ammonium sulfate surpassed those with urea in the chlorophyll content consistently under the nursery, the pot and the paddy field trials. The photosynthesis of flag leaf at heading stage increased with the combination rate of ammonium sulfate in the pot trial. The sulfur applicated as supplementary element of nitrogen in the nursery, the pot and the field trials were observed to be in positive relationship to the nitrogen and potassium content, but to be in negative correlation to the calcium content. The sulfur content in the rice plants was higher at early growth stage and decreased with the advance in growth stage. The nitrogen content also showed a similiar tendency to the sulfur content, and the N/S ratio was higher at early growth stage than at later one. The N/S ratio was negatively correlated with the chlorophyll content. In the field experiment, ammonium sulfate surpassed urea in the number of productive tiller, dry matter production and unhulled rice yields, but much stimulating effect of ammonium sulfate on the grain production was shown to be less effective than that on the straw production. The nitrogen and major nutrients content in the rice straw at harvest were higher in the paddy field with long-term ammonium sulfate application than in that with long-term urea application, suggesting that the former might have greater potentiality in nutrients supply than the latter.
A pot experiment was carried out to examined the effect of electrolyzed micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Zn, Sr, Se, Sn, Co, Ti, and V) solution treatments with nutrient solution and SCB slurry on the mineral content and growth of tomato in cherry tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum). The treatment of nutrient solution (NS)+micronutrients solution (MS) significantly increased the concentrations of Li, Zn, Sr, Se, Ti as compared with that of NS alone in the cherry tomato fruits, and SCB+MS solution treatment significantly increased Li, Zn, Se, Co, Sr, and Ti contents as compared with SCB treatment. The micronutrient contents of MN+SCB+MS treatment were significantly higher in Li, Zn, Se, Co and in Ti than those of SCB and NS treatment, respectively. The growth and yield of cherry tomato fruits was highest with NS treatment. The yield indices of cherry tomato treated with NS+MS treatment and SCB+NS+MS were 97% and 94% of NS treatment. In conclusion, it seems to be possible to produce micronutrient-fortified cherry tomato by the mixed treatment of electrolyzed micronutrients.
The hop alpha-acid content prediction model developed with meteorological elements in Hoeongseong was Y=28.369-0.003X$_1$+1.558X$_2$-1.953X$_3$-0.335X$_4$-0.003X$\sub$5/-0.119X$\sub$6/, with MSEp of 0.004, Rp$^2$ of 0.9987, Rap$_2$ of 0.9949 and Cp of 7.00. The total sunshine hours (X$_1$), the maximum temperature (X$_3$) and the total precipitation (X$\sub$5/) at flowering stage. the maximum temperature at flower bud differentiation stage (X$_4$) and the maximum temperature at cone ripening stage (X$\sub$6/) influenced on hop alpha .acid content as decrement weather elements. The maximum temperature at cone development stage(X$_2$) effected on ${\alpha}$-acid content as increment weather element.

This pot experiment was conducted to find out the effects of boron application( $B_{0}$ ) ; control, B$_1$; 0.2, $B_2$; 2.0, $B_3$; 6.0, $B_4$; 15.0 boron me/pot) on the forage performance of pure and mixed cultures of orchardgrass and white clover. The fourth part was concerned with the changes in the contents of B, Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn in forages. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The boron(B) contents of both forages and their differences among the B treatments generally decreased according to the cutting order. The B contents of white clover were somewhat lower in the $B_{0}$ than in the $B_2$. However, the differences in the yields between $B_{0}$ and $B_2$ were relatively great. It was probably caused by the latent B-deficiency in the $B_{0}$. Compared with white clover, the B contents of orchardgrass had relatively great differences between the $B_{0}$ and B$_2$, but both yields tended to be similar. 2. The contents of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn in both forages were generally different according to the forage species, whether it was a pure or mixed cultures, and additional fertilization. The effects of B application on their contents were different according to the micronutrients and above factors. 3. The Fe contents of white clover were lower in the $B_{0}$ and $B_4$ than in the$ B_2$. It tended to be related to the weak growth of roots and low yields in the $B_{0}$ and $B_2$. However, there were not consistent in the changes of contents of Mn, Cu, and Zn by the rates of B application. 4. The effects of B application on the total ion concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn were not consistent in both forages. However, the concentrations were generally affected by the changes in the contents of Mn and Zn. The concentrations of white clover were higher in a pure than in mixed culture.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of soil conditioners, such as lime, borax, poultry waste sawdust manure (P.W.S.M) and mixed oil cakes (M.O.C), on the rutin biosynthesis and the yield of buckwheat. The content of phosphorus ($P_2O_5$) in buckwheat plants before flowering was higher at before flowering than that of flowering time at all plots. The content of nitrogen (N), potassium ($K_2O$), calcium (CaO) and magnesium (MgO) was lower at before flowering than those of flowering time at all plots. The contents of rutin in buckwheat plant at flowering time was higher than that at before flowering content of rutin in leaf was higher than that in stem. The contents of rutin in buckwheat plant was the highest at the plot treated with borax (B) compared to other plots. Correlation between rutin and amino acid was positive in buckwheat leaf, while it was negative in buckwheat stem. The yield of buckwheat was 21 percent higher at the plot treated with borax than the plot applied with the other three ingredients.
A study was conducted to study yield response and nutrient uptakes with N, P, K application. Its growth and root yield of Aralia continentalis was increased along with the added amount of fertilizer, and optimum fertilization rates of N, P, K were 38, 21, 18kg/10a, respectively. On the path coefficient analysis between the growth characters and root yield, its values showed in the order of plant height, root width, number of budstocks, number of branch, stem width and number of root. Relative yield of non-fertilization against fertilization of N, P, K were low in the order of N, P and K, that is, responses of fertilization on root yield of Aralia continentalis were affected greatly in the order of N, K and P, but the fertilization efficiency was high in the order of K, P and N. Calcium content was the highest and phosphorus content was the lowest among the mineral nutrients contained in the leaf, but relationships between nitrogen content and root yield was showed positive correlation the difference distinctly between the chemicals and the organics.
We studied about the changes of Allylisothiocyanate (allyINCS) content in rhizome by growth period or season and the effect of foliar application of fertilizer on allylNCS content in Wasabia japonica. AllylNCS content in rhizome of Wasabia japonica was changed according to growth period or season and it was decreased suddenly in May, the last stage of flowering. Foliar application of 1 % urea increased rhizome weight, but had no effect on allylNCS content in rhizome. Total three times foliar applications of 1 % potassium sulfate from Feb. to April increased rhizome weight by 44% and allylNCS content by 38% compared with control and potassium sulfate was more effective than ammonium sulfate. Even though the use of 1 % urea and 1 % ammonium sulfate caused growth disorder due to high concentration, rhizome weight was similar to the control and allylNCS content of rhizome increased by 47% more than control.

This field experiment was carried out to determine the effects of thirteen different fertilizer levels of nitrogen(N), phosphorus($P_2O_5$) and potassium($K_2O$) on the content of crude protein, crude fiber, mineral constituents of product and tree growth forest pasture with 40-50% shading. The experiment was arranged as a randomized block design and performed in the suburban forest of Suweon in 1984. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Crude protein content and total protein yield were higher in the plot of 28 and 42kg $N/_{10a}$, regardless of $P_2O_5\;and\;K_2O$ level, while those were the lowest in zero fertilizer and N-zero fertilizer plots. 2. The contents of lignin and silica were significantly low in the high N fertilizer level, and the contents of NDF, ADF, cellulose and hemicellulose were not affected by different fertilizer levels. However, the content of crude fiber tended to be low with high N, regardless of $P_2O_5\;and\;K_2O$. 3. The contents of N,K and $SiO_2$ of grasses were influenced by different fertilizer levels. However, those of P,Ca,Ma and Na showed little differences. 4. The recovery percentage of NPK was higher in the plot of standard fertilizer level with 28-20-24 kg/10a, and higher recovery percentage was observed in $K_2O$, followed by N and $P_2O_5$ in that order. 5. The growth of tree was increased as the level of N fertilizer was increased, but no such trend was noted by $P_2O_5\;and\;K_2O$ levels. 6. Crude protein, crude fiber, some mineral contituents of grasses, and growth of tree were influenced by N level, regardless of $P_2O_5\;and\;K_2O$. And the optimum fertilizer level of $N-P_2O_5-K_2O$ seemed to be 28-20-24 kg/10a for the production of grasses with higher quality and more yield in the forest.
Experiments were conducted to know the effects of 15 years successive application of fertilizers and organic matters on the soil properties, plant growth and yield of rice. Application of fertilizers and organic matters for 15 years in same plots were increased soil pH, OM, and CEC, but decreased $SiO_2$ and Ca content in paddy soil. Organic matter application for 15 years was increased OM about 0.5% compare to non-applied plot. Particulary lime application was increased soil pH, $SiO_2$, Ca and CEC in paddy soil. NPK+compost and NPK+straw application were increased number of panicles and number of spikelets per unit area, but decreased ripening ratio compare to NPK applied plot. Average grain yield for 15 years in the non-fertilized, -N, -P, -K, NPK+compost, NPK+straw and NPK+lime applied plot was 47, 51, 88, 95, 113, 117, and 106% of yield conpare to NPK applied plot, respectively.

This study was conducted to observe the effects of urea foliar spray to replace soil fertilization on defoliation ratio, shoot growth and fruit setting in satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.). Twice foliar sprays of 1% urea after harvest increased N and chlorophyll contents in leaves, and decreased defoliation during the winter season. The growth of the ovary and spring shoot was stimulated by the twice 0.8% urea foliar spray around the time of bud emergence. In addition, the treatments increased the number of flowers and fruit setting, but didn't influence fruit quality.
