The first visual contact in architecture happens in surface, and it could be significant object as well as the starting point to recognize the essence and perceive the buildings. Architecture surface could not get out of the restriction of structures and materials that support buildings for a long time in the past. Architecture surface in the past should fulfill the structural role to form are appearance of buildings and support buildings at the same time, so it was difficult to get out of logic for material and thickness of walls, arrangements and sizes of windows. However, since the modern age, architecture surface came to be freer according to the development of building technology, and development of technology changes shows tendencies to express role of new design factor as an architectural element emphasized expression and autonomy,s which was escaped from the subordinate relationship that the surface of building must do the structural function. In this study, it would be examined the expressive characteristics of various epidermis that are expressed in architecture of Herzog & de Meuron since the end of 20thcentury focused on comprehended and analyzed results of changes and characteristics of contemporary society. Through this, it would be comprehended the epidermis of architecture that has particular character expressed in modern buildings of Herzog & de Meuron, and it would be composed a certain linkage between this and characteristics of contemporary society and it would be investigated that the establishing process of inner spaces. Identification through case analysis for this would perform a role of catalyst for the new possibility and development of contemporary architecture's surface expression in the future.

지난 회에서는 고층 주거 빌딩의 외피를 높이라는 주요 변수 및 이 변수의 함수를 통해 발생하는 파생적인 변수들을 통해 파라메트릭 모델로 구성해 나가는 과정을 살펴보았습니다. 이번 회에도 지난회와 같은 연장선상에서 디자인에 영향을 미치는 하나의 변수를 설정하고 이 변수를 통해 전체적인 디자인을 구성해 나가는 과정에 대하여 살펴볼까 합니다. 지난 회의 예와는 조금 다르게 이번 회의 예는 "변수화 된 모듈러"라는 비교적 친근한 컨셉에 더 가깝다고 할 수 있습니다. 저번 회의 고층 주거의 스킨은 다수의 레이어로 구성이 되었었고 각 레이어들이 해당 레이어 전역에 걸쳐 변수와 상관관계를 가지게 되며 이러한 상관관계가 각 레이어들별로 서로 다르게 정의 되므로 conceptual level에서의 변수와 물리적 형태의 상관관계가 눈에 쉽게 보이는 물리적인 모듈러로 구현된다기 보다는 그러한 conceptual level에서의 관계가 물리적 모듈러의 생성단계를 뛰어넘으며 결과적으로 눈에 보이는 모듈러의 생성을 하지 않았습니다. 이에 더해 개별의 레이어의 적층으로 인해 변수가 어떻게 디자인에 영향을 주는지 직관적으로 이해하기 힘들었을 수도 있을 것 같습니다. 그에 반해 이번 회에서 살펴볼 예는 파라메트릭 디자인이라고 사람들이 흔히 이야기 할 때의 전형에 조금 더 가깝다고 볼 수 있을 것 같습니다.

Contemporary architecture has shown interest in surface after breaking off the relation with structure. Also, the development of contemporary media has brought the great change to the surface of architecture. Interaction among the people, architecture, and environment is also the main point of interest in adapting the role of media to the architecture. But contemporary media itself have been applied on surface in architecture lately. So, it is purpose of the study to analyze the contemporary media characteristics application on the surfaces of EXPO pavilions based on the related characteristics of interaction effects. The categories and the contents for the frame of case studies were arranged through document research and field study. Case studies were focused on the pavilions of the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010. Surface can make the interaction between human and architecture more dramatically by the application the role of media. It was analyzed through the study that the interaction level of people is the important issue shared in digital or analog media application on surface of pavilion. The complementary relationship between surface of contemporary architecture and contemporary media can be manipulated and enriched by the application of various style of media on surface.

Due to rapid climate changing and the need for energy conservation, environment friendly initiatives have emerged, and regulations to support establishment of green structures in construction have been legislated and enacted. In this study, the supporting of green build method act for rapid climate change and energy conservation. Using green build method, protecting surrounding ecosystem and developing green building continuously, I suggest alternative for protection of the environment. Identifies Envelope Design Elements among various construction Green Building Design Guidelines. Green buildings that we extract the Green Building envelope design from Design Guideline, select the object building through the green buildings examples of public institution relocation projects. Since then analyzes the planned schematic design and Green Envelope Design Elements and Green Building Certification(G-SEED). So, that future directions for planning correlation of Green Building and Design Guidelines about Green Design Elements Can be presented.

The Progress and development of technology occurring since the 20th century has improved the quality of life of most people. However, serious energy problems have arisen as a result of this lifestyle of convenience and prosperity. These problems have already stared to threaten the very survival of human beings. Architecture and energy are no longer separate concepts. They are now considered as coexisting subject areas. The mutual relevance of energy, technology and architecture is expected to be more emphasized in the future. This study is concerned with the skin design of intelligent housing, which defines the external and infernal boundary. Applicable design techniques are suggested. The purpose of his study is to classify intelligent skin technologies and applications, and to grasp the design characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, as well as design techniques of each items related to Housing. This study will also suggest application techniques that can be used as basic data for determining an appropriate skin type when designing single buildings.

Modern architecture and design show experiments that practice exchange and convergence with other genres through expansive thinking. This study aims to propose the use of graphic skins as a means of dematerializing and invisiblizing expressions of architecture. The method of realizing 'invisible architecture' can be largely divided into methods that use materials that manipulate light and graphic approaches based on trickery techniques. The exterior wall graphic of the special stage in Seoul Plaza can be said to be an attempt of dematerialization to make the building structure light and transparent, and a case to propose the role of super graphics to maintain the identity of the original place by erasing disharmonious elements from the field of view. It is expected that the graphic skin will be used as a powerful means of expression in the era of 'invisible architecture' as an effective camouflage method and media beyond the means of decorating the exterior walls of the completed facilities.

The Contemporary consumer society demands companies to emphasize more on the brand marketing that can deliver the brand identities distinguished from those of competing companies. In today's environment, the meaning of consumption is not only a simple purchase of a product, but also assimilation into images, experience and emotional aspects of the brand. The flagship stores of brands take the advantage of the tendency seriously and utilize the envelopes of the building as marketing catalysts to establish their brand identities. This paper aims to investigate the possibility of the architectural envelope as a marketing element to establish the brand identities, by analyzing the design techniques that enhance the visual effects utilizing innovative application of material, pattern and connection details. it is studied that the function of architectural envelope's change from past to recent date and role of architectural envelope as means of marketing for expression brand image in contemporary commerce space and elements that can be applied on architectural envelope with theoretical consideration about marketing and brand identity. Also this paper will research about experience elements because the process for consumers to recognize brand image with architecture is the process of visual experience. And through example research, this paper will study interrelationship between visual system of cognition to be expressed on architectural envelope.

Generally, the envelope of a freeform building is composed of a structure made with rectangular or C-shaped steel pipe, and steel or aluminum panel finishes on the structure. However, these construction methods increase material loss and cost and time. There are also numerous cases of misunderstanding of design and difficulties in construction, which frequently cause construction errors. Such construction errors decrease construction productivity, resulting in poor construction quality and the need for rework, as well as cost and time overruns. To solve the problem, this study proposes a 3D coordinate control technology for freeform structure implemented through a CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) Twisted tube method, and by extension, develops a BIM-based envelope construction method for freeform building.

This study is to find ways to self-produce energy even in buildings through the system of trees that grow by themselves focused on literatures and case studies. It is divided into the structure, circulation and reaction system of tree. 1) In the structural system, the tree is divided into the shoot and root system, and maintains rigidity with the cell membranes. The wind resistance caused by the trunk and crown can be applied to the seismic structure principle of building, and the role of platelike buttresses of lateral roots can be applied to the horizontal truss and suspension bridge. 2) In the circulation system, the transpiration action through the fine stomata of the leaves can be a very effective cooling means because a large amount of heat is released and this method can be directly introduced into the cooling of buildings. 3) In the responsive system, the response system according to environmental changes that can be read from the leaves and flowers of trees can be applied to the roof and exterior design of buildings through the use of new sensing technologies and materials.

The concept of surface has become more relative and more relationship-oriented based upon interaction between spaces as the traditional realm of perception succumbed to that of a more flexible, open perspective. If surface characteristics are consideredas an interface, an interface with individual characteristics will form part of the whole and will become an element in the whole (the environment), manifesting itself as a medium incorporated in an architectural space. This authorintends to understand interface not as a mere intermediary space but as an intervening border that allows exchanges between different environments and as a medium that allows expressions of aesthetic order through organic order. Also, it is the Intention of this author to grasp extended meanings of interface.
