Cryogenic LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) which is stored in the cylindrical storage tanks of $100,000m^3$ has very complex flow phenomena and the changes of thermal properties with exterior conditions and operation modes. These complex thermofluid behaviors are affected by the storage, exterior conditions of LNG, design specifications and heat transfer characteristics of tanks. Also, those have influence on the stable storage and supply of LNG in the storage tanks. Thus this study peformed the analysis on the 2-D heat transfer of the tank with exterior conditions, on the Cool Down Process in order to cool down the LNG Storage Tank at the initial normal state, and on the Filling Process considered for incoming and rising of LNG. The analysis on the Mixing LNG Storage was studied too. At last, the visualized program on the complex thermofluidodynamic analysis was developed on the basis of the above analyses. The development of this program becomes to be used to the basic design of the commercial tanks as well as to assure technical skill of the analysis on the thermal stability of the stored LNG in the LNG Storage Tank.
Fluidized-bed thermal desorber coupled with a heat pipe was investigated for the remediation of soil contaminated with diesel oils. Thermal gravimetric analysis by Cahn-balance indicated that the desorption of diesel oils from the soil particles was mainly governed by the internal diffusion at low concentration of less than 0.5 wt. % of oils in the soil particles. In fluidized-bed experiments. increase of fluidizing gas velocity reduced the residual oils of the contaminated soils, the increase of soil feed rate decreased efficiency of fluidized-bed desorber. A mathematical model was developed by incorporating Fickian diffusion kinetics into the Kunii-Levenspiel model Simulation results showed reasonable agreement for the performance of fluidized-bed thermal desorber.
Heat exchanger tube array in a heat recovery steam generator is exposed to the hot exhaust gas flow and it could cause the flow induced vibration, which could damage the heat exchanger tube array. It is needed for the structural safe operation of the heat exchanger to establish the characteristics of flow induced vibration in the tube array. The researches for the flow induced vibration of typical heat exchangers have been conducted by using single cicular tube or circular tube array and the nondimensional PSD(Power Spectral Density) function with the Strouhal number, fD/U, had been derived by experimental method. From the present study, the basis for the application of flow induced vibration to the heat recovery steam generator tube array would be prepared. For the previous mentioned purpose, the present CFD analysis introduced a single fin tube and calculated with the unsteady laminar flow over the single fin tube. The characteristics of vortex shedding and lift fluctuation over the fin tube was investigated. The derived nondimensional PSD was compared with the results of the previous experimental researches and the characteristics of lift PSD over a single fin tube was established from the present CFD study.

The magnetic interaction between elliptic Janus magnetic particles are investigated using a direct simulation method. Each particle is a one-to-one mixture of paramagnetic and nonmagnetic materials. The fluid is assumed to be incompressible Newtonian and nonmagnetic. A uniform magnetic field is applied externally in a horizontal direction. A finite-element-based fictitious domain method is employed to solve the magnetic particulate flow in the creeping flow regime. In the magnetic problem, the magnetic field in the entire domain, including the particles and the fluid, is obtained by solving the governing equation for the magnetic potential. Then, the magnetic forces acting on the particles are calculated via a Maxwell stress tensor formulation. In a single particle problem, it is found that the orientation angle at equilibrium is affected by the aspect ratio of the particle. As for the two-particle interaction, the dynamics and the final conformation of the particles are significantly influenced by the aspect ratio, the orientation, and the spatial positions of the particles. For the given positions of the particles, the fluid flow is also influenced by the orientation of each particle. The self-assembly structure of the particles is not a fixed one, but it varies with the above-mentioned factors.
Computer simulation of the air flow over an automotive vehicle is now becoming a routine process in automotive industry to assess the aerodynamic characteristics of a medium-size vehicle such as $C_d\;and\;C_1$ and aslo to investigate the possibility of improving aerodynamic performance of the vehicle as a preliminary design for the production line. Mainly due to its contribution in saving time and cost in the development of new cars, computer simulation of the air flow over a vehicle is usually done well before a production car is introduced to the market and in gaining more and more attention as powerful computer resources are getting readily available nowadays. To aerodynamically design a car is mainly related with reducing a drag coefficient of car. A well designed car usually has a $C_d$ value in the range of $0.3{\sim}0.4$. It is understandable that automotive industry is rushing to reduce a drag coefficient as reducing even a small fraction of the $C_d$ value can have an enormous overall impact on many areas. Actually, the present research model was able to achieve a $C_d$ value in the range of $0.3{\sim}0.36$ for flow velocities of $60km/h{\sim}100km/h$ by strategically removing the possible factor hazardous to lower $C_d$ value. Prediction of the medium-size vehicle aerodynamics using CFD was performed when an actual car model was in the development stage and three-dimensional modeling was also performed to optimize it as the best model in terms of the best aerodynamic performance.

The two-dimensional sloshing problem in a rigid rectangular tank with a free surface is considered. The flow is generated by a container in harmonic motion in time along the horizontal axis, i.e., a container excited by u=Asin($2{\pi}ft$) where u denotes the container velocity imposed externally, A is the amplitude of the oscillation velocity, and f is the frequency of oscillation. Experimental apparatus is arranged to investigate the large-amplitude sloshing flows in off-resonant conditions, where the large amplitude means that A~O(1), and the distance, S, is comparable to the breadth, L, of the container, i.e., L/S~O(1). Comprehensive particle image velocimetry (PIV) data are obtained, which show that the flow physics of the nonlinear off-resonant sloshing problem can be characterized into three peculiar free surface motions: standing-wave motions similar to those of linear sloshing, a run-up phenomenon along the vertical sidewall at the moment of turn-over of the container, and gradually propagating bore motion from the sidewall to the interior fluid region, like a hydraulic jump.
A heat recovery steam generator consists of inlet expansion duct and heat transfer tube bank modules. For the enhancement of heat transfer in the tube bank modules, the flow should be uniform before the 1st heat transfer tube bank module. The present study has been carried out to analyze the flow characteristics in the inlet expansion duct of a heat recovery steam generator by using numerical flow analysis. The aim of the present study is to establish the proper heat transfer mechanism in the heat transfer tube bank modules by the comparison of the heat transfer models, the case with the constant heat loss per unit volume and the case with heat loss by using inner and outer convective heat transfer coefficient of heat transfer tube. From the present research, it could be seen that the heat transfer mechanism with using inner and outer convective heat transfer coefficient derives more proper temperature distribution results and the acceptance criteria of the temperature distribution within ${\pm}10^{\circ}C$ before SCR is satisfied with using this heat transfer mechanism.

A potential-based panel method has been developed to investigate the resistance characteristics of a high speed catamaran advancing on the free surface. Normal dipoles and sources are distributed on the body surface while sources are distributed on the free surface. Linearised free surface conditions are used in the present analysis. To avoid the instabilities due to the velocity difference between inner and outer flow of a high speed catamaran, Kutta condition has been applied at the stern. Model test has been carried out not only to validate the numerical results but to confirm the capabilities of a CWC(Circulating Water Channel). It is believed that we can obtain the qualitatively reasonable results in the CWC. Computed results are compared with those of experiments and Insel's experimental values. Since the Kutta condition is applied at the stern, stable solutions are obtained at the high speed range. The present method, using linearised free surface conditions at the high speed range, seems to be a useful tool in the hull form design of a high speed catamaran.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the cash flow of pharmaceutical companies on R&D investment. 143 pharmaceutical companies listed in the KOSDAQ market from 2009 to 2013. Financial statements and comments in general and internal transactions were extracted from TS-2000 of the Korea Listed Company Association (KLCA), and data related to stock price was extracted from KISVALUE-III of NICE Information Service Co., Ltd. STATA 12.0 was used as the statistical package for panel analysis. The summary of the findings and the interpretation of the significance of this are as follows: First, the current ratio (internal finance) had a positive influence on R&D investment. Second, the debt ratio (external finance) had a negative influence on R&D investment. The pharmaceutical company prefers internal funds to external funds due to the asymmetry of information in the loan markets. In other words, this shows why internal finances have a significant influence on R&D investment at pharmaceutical companies.
